Classic bait and switch. My client and I sat down with the owner and reviewed options for business card stock for a standard 4/4 digital print. We signed off on a specific weight and finish and waited to pick them up. What was promised in five days took almost two weeks. When my client picked up the cards they were a lighter weight with a different finish, low resolution with mis-aligned trim, and ink bled across the top of about half the cards (approx. 500 of 1000). The press operator also ran the job on glossy stock when we specifically requested uncoated.
The owner attempted to convince me that he made no promise as to the weight we agreed on, that his ink has a sheen when dry and his samples of our job didn't have lines running through them. He redacted his claim about paper weight when my client also doubled down on what was discussed.
No quality control whatsoever, and he either doesn't have the skill, capacity or interest in running a job per the client's requests. Unfortunately, there has been no apology or attempt to rectify the problem. I've since incurred new printing fees at a professional press because I couldn't, in good conscience, subject my client to more financial stress.
