It was so good, I went back the NEXT DAY: Today's The Salad Palace (Macon) meal I got the large Seafood Salad, which consists of romaine lettuce, shrimp, imitation crab, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, cheese, black olives red and yellow peppers and bacon. (The bacon was supposed to be on the side but I ate it anyway as it wasn't an overwhelming amount) - the menu says croutons, but I was given crackers as a substitute. Light and deliciously good I topped it with the avocado ranch and some blue cheese dressings. This would be great as a seafood taco salad, some salsa and guacamole, especially since I can't eat the iceberg listed in the Nacho Supreme and Taco Salad. And the red velvet cake was excellent!!! Moist and flavorful Every time I come home, I see this as one of my favorite spots for something healthy and fulfilling. If you can pay $8-10 for a salad at Wendy's, Zaxby's or Chick-fil-A, then you'll be more than pleased to buy a large salad here - the large is actually twice the size of the other 3 competitors. Salad Palace exceeded my expectations! The salads are huge, well-priced, fresh ingredients, ready quick! Excellent customer service. I love that they use romaine instead of iceberg lettuce for most salads. There is only one area where they can improve, and others have noted it, which is to use house-made dressings instead of commercial ones. The restaurant is in a mini-mall that is almost empty except for the restaurant, but don't be dissuaded by that. It means there's tons of parking! Order at the counter and either eat at one of the few inside or outside tables or take it with you. I've done both and when I take it home I use my own salad dressing. The small tuna salad plate must have had at least a whole can of tuna and possibly more. It was delicious southern style with sweet relish - so good. The dill pickle that came with it was perfect. The veggies were all crisp and fresh. The veggie salad is also very good - loved it! Get their loyalty card while you're there. Buy 10 and then get a free small salad. Honestly, there are so few healthy eating places in Macon and one that is locally owned with a huge selection of items where you can get your food quickly and at a great price is something we need more of. Go check it out and share the word!

Was headed elsewhere to get food then thought I would get a salad. Ordered a chef salad today. It was good. The reasoning for the 3 stars...once again I had no croutons and I asked prior to leaving the establishment were they on there. She says they probably underneath. Ookk Im not confrontational but everyone knows croutons go on top. Just be honest. Do you have croutons at all? Next the bacon bits were so scarce. I could barely see them. Last time I received 3 dressings. Today 2. I'm clueless at this point what comes with the salads. I'm not saying not to try it. They are good salads but for $15 and even more if using a card, I am no longer patronizing and not receiving all the ingredients. I am no stranger to this establishment. I frequent there when it was Salads To Go on Pio Nono as well. And often my sister picks up an order for me. But lately I have had zero tolerance with a lot of things. I'd just rather take a pass on future mishappenings.

Surprisingly great spot. I was a little leary about trying this place because it's in a rundown shopping center in a not so great area of town. When we walked in they asked if it was our first visit and apparently they sing to all the first timers. Great customer service and super friendly. They have salads and sandwiches and cakes and various other items. They have an expansive menu and it takes a few minutes to take it all in. It's called the Salad Palace so we had to try the salads. My wife and I both got small salad because their small is larger than a salad you'd get from Chickfila or Zaxbys and their large is gigantic. A little pricier than chain restaurants but I'm willing to pay more to support local businesses. My salad was hand chopped with mostly fresh ingredients, the pineapple and mandarins seemed like they came from a can but no biggie. You can customize your salads with various proteins and vegetables and fruits. They have at least a dozen different salad dressings, and this is my only point of contention, seems like all of the dressings come from industrial sized tubs, they weren't bad per se but not great either. Service was quick and they also had a clean restroom. I will definitely return to this place when I'm in the area for a healthy meal.

After seeing the stellar reviews, I decided to give Pho Cali Vietnamese Soup & Grill a try. I've now ordered from them three separate times to give a fair, honest take. Ordering online has been easy each time, and my go-to has been the seafood stir-fried noodles. My first order was actually really good. The seafood and vegetables were fresh, perfectly cooked, and flavorful, though there were quite a few noodles and they leaned a bit mushy. My second visit, I ordered the same dish and it came with lo mein noodles instead, which changed the texture and overall experience in a way I didn't enjoy as much. On my third try, I went in hoping to recreate that first experience, but it landed a bit underwhelming again. That said, the fried calamari was a standout, crispy, well seasoned, and honestly some of the best I've had. While I haven't dined in yet, the few interactions I've had during pickups have been pleasant. The staff is friendly, the space appears clean, and the ambiance feels cozy and inviting. Based on the reviews, I know the pho is what many people come for, so that will definitely be my next order. Overall, it's a spot I'm willing to revisit, especially to explore more of the menu beyond what I've tried so far.

AN EXPERIENCE NOT JUST A MEAL…read more This place is located in a kind of seedy downtown area of Macon. We walked in and the vibe throughout the place won me over instantly. When the staff seem to enjoy their jobs and working with each other as well, chances are you have a winner. We were seated immediately in a cozy booth with floor to ceiling graffiti. The place just oozed character! We were told that at times in the loft above our heads they had live music FYI. The waitress was friendly and on point. We never found ourselves waiting to order or for drinks, etc. The food was great. We started with the solid gold soul rolls which were tasty. I'd say 2-3 people for this app. My wife had the hot pig and fig which she enjoyed. She wanted something a little light and it was perfect for her. I ordered the Dr John Burger. The cook forgot my bacon . No bueno. Our waitress was game and was quick to bring me bacon to complete the burger. It was well cooked and the flavors were excellent so all was good. Our companion enjoyed her food as well. We all left full and happy. And, yes I would return and I recommend trying them yourself.

We started with the fried green tomatoes, which were a great appetizer--crispy, flavorful, and a nice way to kick things off. For our entrées, we had the fish and chips and the smoked turkey sandwich. The fish had a nice crispy batter, and the smoked turkey sandwich was tasty and satisfying. My only disappointment was the fries. They were a bit soggy and lacked the crispiness I was hoping for, especially with the fish and chips. A crisp, hot fry would have taken the meal to the next level. Overall, the food was good, the atmosphere was enjoyable, and I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu.

Stopped here on the road from Savannah to Atlanta for some authentic shrimp and grits…read more Appetizer fried green tomatoes were DELICIOUS! We've been fried green tomato'ing it across Georgia and loving them. This simple looking plate was exceptionally seasoned, perhaps the tomatoes were even marinated. There was just so much flavor! So - the shrimp and grits! These were Cajun/creole style so not traditional but very tasty! Hard to describe the sauce - maybe a bit smokey, a bit sweet. I don't know the flavors I was tasting. It wasn't punch your face flavor but a well-crafted smooth full flavored bite! The sausage in it particularly stood out! Delicious! Hubby had the shrimp Po Boy, and wow! Honestly, it was even better! Large shrimp, really well seasoned and crusted with cornmeal batter. The bread roll was the best! Soft, tasty, just made the Po Boy easy to eat, unlike most who just throw the shrimp on a chewy cut of French bread. This was truly superior! And the side of beans and rice?? Best best best evahhhh! The service was really good. Pleasant and knowledgeable staff. EXCEPT: Why were the grits served to me with grits dripping off the side of the bowl? The server even turned the dripping side towards me and placed it in front of me like that. I took a napkin and started cleaning the bowl so the grits wouldn't accidentally touch my dress, and the server just watched. Didn't offer to clean it or replace it. I was a server in another life. I know that isn't acceptable. I don't serve friends and family a plate or bowl that's dripping off the side. I don't expect that at restaurant. But, I consider it a one off. Mistakes happen. I cleaned. I ate it. And the grits were good. Atmosphere: The place was dark and sexy. Cool atmosphere. But I had to knock it several stars for the women's bathroom. In addition to it generally being basic. Not "dirt" but not clean feeling. A giant tile was missing from the ceiling directly over the toilet! Talk about feeling naked and like someone is spying on you! I couldn't wait to get out of there! It's clear that there is maintenance needed in the ceiling and that's why the tile is missing. But no good reason why they can't put a cloth cover or some kind of screen to cover the hole. It is entirely uncomfortable and unacceptable. Hopefully that issue will be fixed soon. And they will also take the time to upgrade the bathroom feeling - nice soap, luxurious paper hand towels, deep clean the floor and walls. Then the entire restaurant will be cohesive, elegant, sexy, cool.
