Writing this as I'm eating. Was recommended this place by a family I took care of at work... came in after I got off and it did not disappoint one bit. I'm from SoCal so my expectations for a California burrito are high but this place exceeded them! It was the perfect balance of fries, carne asada and cheese. We also got Al pastor burrito, and the street taco combo... so flavorful, meat was juicy and cooked just right. Portions are HUGE! They have a small bar with salsas, and toppings that just made the experience even better. The cashier was friendly as soon as we walked in, and the runner checked on us multiple times. The inside isn't Huge but it's clean, and comfortable to have your meal here! As someone who has tried multiple Mexican places... this place really was top notch for what we were craving! Lived in AZ for 12 years and so cal. Have a had a ton of good Mexican food. My go to is crispy tacos and carne asada burritos, so that's what I got. Service 10/10, the guy at the front taking the order was a rockstar. Greeted everyone, asked everyone if they had any questions and happily helped walk them through it. Crispy tacos 8.5/10. Shell perfectly fried, packed with meat, Shredded beef was a little too sweet. Burrito 2/10 carne asada with pico Lettuce and sour cream. It might've been an off day for them, because reviews are great, but the meat was so salty it was close to inedible, the tortilla was dry. Chips and salsas, great. Will try again read more

We visit the Nashville and Franklin area a few times a year and have had a hard time finding good Mexican food like we have in Southern California. Why is liquid queso a thing in this area? Not at this place. Real cheese and the food is every bit as good as Mexican food in SoCal. The carne asada, carnitas, tostada, and taquitos were all on point. The meats were lean, not fatty; flavorful and not chewy. The tortillas taste home made. The chips and the salsa bar were great. Will be back again! read more

One of the great burrito spots in Nashville, and its relatively new! Had the California burrito which was just top-tier. The salsas that this place is pumping out should be a case study for other mexican restaurants. They make all of the food so much better and more enjoyable. We met the owner... probably one of the most humble and happy people you will meet. He is the textbook example of what makes locally owned shops great and worth visiting, and even if his food wasn't incredible (which it is), I would want to go back just to support him. He said that they will be expanding to a larger patio soon which will be great when the weather cools down so will be the perfect excuse to go fill up on more great bites. read more

Trusted the other reviews and wow! This is a gem near Vanderbilt and well worth the $22 round trip Uber from Broadway. Huge portions, delicious choices at salsa bar, and incredibly friendly service. We feel the prices are very reasonable and my wife was impressed at how much food she had just ordering three of the chicken rolled tacos. I had one of their massive burritos that had steak and shrimp in it. We also really enjoyed the queso and fresh guacamole. If anything was just average it was their elote in a cup. We have definitely had better Mexican street corn elsewhere. It was also very clean inside, including the bathroom and patio area out front. The food was absolutely incredible! We were hoping to find an easy go-to spot for dinner, and Salty Burrito delivered. My husband had the California burrito and said it was just as good as the ones he used to get from authentic food trucks back in California. I had the taco salad with ground beef, and it was everything I was craving. Our son got a quesadilla with fries--he's super picky and rarely finishes his food, but he ate his entire meal. That says everything. The guacamole was fresh and flavorful, the queso was amazing, and the chips were perfectly salty and crisp. This place has some of the friendliest staff I've ever encountered in Nashville. Very generous with their time and were checking on my friend and me the perfect amount to make sure the food was good (and it was incredible!). I especially appreciated that one guy took the time to explain why my friend's birria burrito was made the way it was and that it was crisped up to add that special aspect of birria that makes it authentic. I was nervous about what restaurant would replace the site of the old McDougal's, but the space is clearly in good hands with these folks. I was hungry for burritos. I know they are a new business and wanted to give them a chance. I walked in and the girl who worked today , Dec.30 at 1:00 was one of the rudest people I've ever met in the service industry. I don't know what her story is. Maybe she has a hard life that isn't going the way she wants. Maybe she has no friends because of her sour personality. If Salty Burrito wants to do well in the area then maybe send her to classes that'll teach her how to be professional and polite where she can work on her manners. As for me , I will not return.
