Worth it! We came here on a Sunday morning around 10am. The shop was clean and quiet. They were well staffed with attentive workers ready to help us with no wait. We got a strawberry shortcake doughnut and a glazed doughnut. Both were fresh, delicious and super soft. I enjoyed both, but I also did really appreciate that the glazed doughnut was much bigger and had visible vanilla caviar in the glaze. YUM! It's 9pm and they close at 10pm and they said they were already cleaning up. First thing asked were if my glasses were recording. Service clerk rang up 2 donuts for $11 and forgot to get us the donuts....waited for about 10min until the other rep grabbed them while she half listened to me with her headphones in. The absolute best donut I have ever tasted in my life! This was my first time trying The Salty Donut, and I am completely hooked. The flavors and texture are unmatched. When I visited, there was only one lady working. Even though it wasn't super busy at the time, she was doing a great job, and the overall ambiance of the shop was amazingso welcoming and clean. Yum! I rarely review dessert spots these days, but The Salty Donut wow'ed me enough to warrant a review. The husband loves sweets so he had to look up places to go for our dessert after our anniversary dinner. We came in around 9 PM on a Friday night. The place was empty but then a few folks wandered in. Though I suppose the pastries wouldn't be the freshest at this time of day, we were still impressed. We purchased the banoffee pie ($4.75) and pistachio cannoli ($4.95) donuts. Banoffee pie: With such an impressive name, the first bit did not disappoint. Though this donut looked more plain, the flavors were impressive. I guess the flavors were a mash of banana and coffee so hence the name. It was really delectable. Even the dough at this hour was still chewy and anything but stale. Pistachio cannoli: Impressive in presentation, but it's still more like a donut than a cannoli. Once you bite into it, you'll know it's more of a donut consistency than cannoli. The chocolate and pistachio coating added nice textures and flavors, but I wasn't a true fan since I was eyeing to have a true cannoli. The flavors were there, but it's just a donut dressed up as a cannoli. The Salty Donut is located in the Krog Street Market space. I only had two doughnuts because they were basically $5 each and I'm not made of money. It was surprisingly delicious. I had the pistachio cannoli and the bannoffee. Both were delicious. The pistachio cannoli was sweeter and didn't have a strong pistachio taste but it was large. The bannaoffee was banana/toffee or maybe coffee flavor and it was delicious. I liked that it wasn't overly sweet. It could've used a little more cream at the top. After taking a bite of the two, I immediately wanted to try the other flavors, but the wife prevented me from being a glutton. I liked how there was a self-serve water station. More bakeries need stuff like that. Would I come here again? Yes This will be my staple dessert if I'm at Krog. Jenni's ice cream is overpriced to me. read more

This is a difficult rating because it's definitely my favorite donut in town, but I've gone in to get two different donuts (especially the brown butter) and it's been sold out either separate times! Krispy Kreme has met their match! We've come a long way from the days when our only options were Dunkin and Krispy Kreme. I stopped in while I was waiting on my table for Superica, so why not eat dessert first? It happened to be a Saturday night around 7:30 and they weren't crowded at all. The donut selection of the day consisted of 16 flavors, half of which were still available. After an agonizing decision making process (lol) I decided on the Samoa donut (yes like the Girl Scout cookie). It was delicious! The donut batter itself is semi sweet so the toppings do most of the heavy lifting.This is fine with me because I don't usually have a sweet tooth. Donut prices ranged from $3.80 to $4.70 each. They rotate certain flavors seasonally. The space is modern and clean inside with seating for about 20 people inside with a couple tables outside. They have wifi if you'd like to post up and get some work done while you enjoy sweet treats. Staff was friendly and the ordering process was quick and efficient. Parking is available in the Krog street lot ($) or you can hunt down a spot on one of the side streets for free. read more

There seem a fair number of donut shops in ATL (not that I've tried them yet lol), though when you drive/walk past several in one day you start wondering if they're all good. Came by on a weekend late afternoon 4:30pm and the donut cafe was pretty devoid of eat-in customers, though seemed to have a steady trickle of customers getting takeout orders to go. These were traditional glazed, chocolate glazed, bacon&butter&salt, vegan cinnamon sugar crumble, GF chocolate whoopie pie, birthday sundae, gingerbread French toast, pumpkin pie cake donut, maple twist, candied pistachio, and strawberry shortcake. Donut prices ranged from $3.80 to $4.70 each. They swap out some flavors seasonally. Other not donut pastries were their apple crisp cinnabun, Oreo cookies&cream roll, butter pecan pop tart, which ranged from $3.60 to $4.80 each, and 6 donuts holes for $3.60. The service was absolutely horrible here. There were probably 2 people sitting around in the shop when my group and I walked in. I ordered first within the group I was with (I ordered an iced matcha latte with cereal milk syrup) and after a while my whole group had gotten their order. So I walked up to the counter to ask if my order was ready and the barista said "I don't know, it's probably one of these", but all the drinks on the counter were hot coffee's of people who ordered after me. So I told him what I ordered, and informed him it wasn't anything on the counter. He proceeded to make about 4 other latte's before asking me what I ordered, again. At this point I was annoyed, and he handed me a latte with probably 10 pumps of cinnamon syrup. I was too angry to deal with the barista so I just left. It was so disgusting I just threw it away. I told him about 3 times I ordered a cereal milk matcha latte. Pretty ridiculous. Considering cinnamon is a common allergy, the barista's should probably be competent enough to recognize that. read more

I came across The Salty Donut while wandering around the Kroger Street Market after dining at Planta. It's situated on a little interior corner with a cute little alcove of seating outside. The glorious air conditioning brought me in to browse on that hot evening. I've never heard of this doughnut spot and I didn't expect them to have anything vegan. I was pleasantly surprised to learn they had one available! I adore a good yeast doughnut but many vegan varieties are cake not yeast. I'm not sure if the vegan flavor rotates or is always the same. I wouldn't care because the PBJ doughnut was spectacular! This huge, like 3', circle of pillowy goodness is what breakfast dreams are made of. A soft yeast doughnut with a beautiful strawberry glaze (real not artificial, and a surprise inside. I'm not sure if the peanut butter mousse was instead the doughnut or somehow in to under the glaze. I didn't care because it was magical. Spot on flavors and everything tasted fresh and handmade. Probably because they were. They had many regular varieties to choose from including a S'mores one that was wore popular with food when I was in there. I was surprised how big these donuts are and even got an extra donut hole! The mixed berry cheesecake was filled with cheesecake filling that wasn't too sweet - tbh not my favorite flavor though. Amazing spot for a coffee and a decadent snack. Their lovely display of current offerings makes it easier to pick and there are always a fair amount of seasonal flavors that make it worthwhile to drop by again. They also close late for a donut/coffee place, so it's really great if you're craving a snack later in the day. I recommend the variety donut holes if you're looking for something lighter as their donuts are pretty big! My favorite so far has been the candied pistachio donut- sweet with slight crunch and salty notes. Seating available indoors and outdoors. It gets fairly crowded during peak hours. ***Delicious donuts, cold customer service I'm a big fan of The Salty. The flavors are always creative, and the donuts have that rich, developed taste of a great yeast dough. The downside has been the customer service, which feels increasingly dry and unwelcoming. At the Krog location, the checkout counter sits right at the entrance, so you're face-to-face with an employee as soon as you walk in. Instead of a warm greeting, I've often been met with blank stares and an energy that makes me feel more like an inconvenience than a guest. I even brought extended family after hyping the place up, only to feel embarrassed when the same cold reception greeted us at checkout. Most recently, my husband brought me yesterday, and once again there was no welcome. Even after we smiled and said hello, the girl at the counter gave off the same odd, non-personable energy. I like to think they don't realize how they come across and I actually have low expectations because I know service workers do not get paid enough for the hard work they do, but walking in excited and leaving feeling like a bother, especially when the shop was nearly empty, was really disappointing. Even more disappointing, when you ask yourself why do you keep coming back to spend money and leave feeling weird. Because I don't live nearby, visiting The Salty has always been a special treat, which is why I've kept coming back. As for the coffee, it doesn't seem to be their strong suit. I tried the cold brew, and it was solid. Hard to go wrong with cold brew since it's pretty straightforward. The cinnamon milk latte, on the other hand, was way too sweet - like, overwhelmingly sweet. I can't stress that enough. It had a nice flavor profile underneath it all, but the syrupy sweetness completely overpowered everything else and made it hard to drink. Oh my goodness that's all I can say. The service at this location is like no other. I was helped by a young man named Terez. He deserves all the praise. And he was extremely helpful to all of my needs. I never ever have a sweet tooth but the day I went, I 100% did. I believe I bought about a dozen donuts for me and all of my big back coworkers. And those donuts were devoured. The immediate service I received was incredible. And the way he explained how each donut was going to taste was even better because I had never been here. I had never tried any of these donuts and the way he expressed in detail how each donut would taste was on point. On top of all of that, the store ambience was so peaceful. I've been to this spot twice. Once about a year ago and again recently. The first time left a strong impression. The concept of "gourmet donuts" felt fun, and the variety was impressive. It really stood out as one of the closest things to high-end, creative donuts you can find in Atlanta. When a friend visited from out of town, I thought it'd be a cool, unique experience to share. We even drove about an hour just to get there. Unfortunately, this second visit was a huge letdown. We arrived around 10 AM on a Sunday morning, greeted the staff with a friendly "good morning," but were met with silence and not even a smile from the person at the counter. That's not a dealbreaker, but it definitely set the tone. To our surprise, the display case was completely empty, no donuts. I figured maybe they'd sold out or were in the middle of a new batch, so I asked when they'd be ready. The only response I got was a flat, cold "I don't know." No explanation, no apology, not even a suggestion to wait or check back. Left without donuts and feeling completely unwelcome. I'll think a million times before returning. Got the strawberry brioche, pumpkin spiced and tiramisu along with apple pie chai latte. Tiramisu was my fav since it wasn't dry. Too much brown sugar at the botton of the pumpkin one. Strawberry is the worst since it was dry and didn't taste any strawberry. I wanna support Susan G Komen foundation with that purchase. Heaven exists and you can reach it with only a few bites of one of these donuts. I always preface sweet reviews by saying that I'm not traditionally a sweets girl. I'm not eating chocolate for kicks or layering my coffee with sweet mixers and what not. I like to reserve my sweet cravings for decadent, delicious treats made with some love and intention. That's what's I got at The Salty Donut. I'm so ashamed to say I didn't know of the legendary Salty Donut until introduced to them by my amazing Manager. With locations in my hometown of South Florida, idk how I missed them! But when I heard that they were coming to Atlanta this year, I couldn't wait to try them. I had the opportunity to enjoy a pint of Salt & Straw ice cream that was a collab with The Salty Donut featuring their Guava & Cheese flavor and, WOW. I'm still dreaming of that pint. Before having my 1st total deep dive into a full-sized donut, I had the opportunity of trying The Salty Donut twice. Once when a friend had the donut holes and recently at Atlanta Food & Wine Festival. At AFWF, they were so giving with the donuts and I walked away with two boxes containing a mini White Chocolate Chai + Butter Pecan (I believe?). Listen, what a come-up. I got home after enjoying those drinks at the festival and needed something sweet lol. I tore that Butter Pecan donut UPPPPP. It was "mini" but still huge because it was so fluffy! Their donuts rise so beautifully, they really have some height to them. They're soft and fluffy, sweet without being overpowering and the flavors just pop. After those four different tastes of The Salty Donut without really indulging on my own, I found myself craving them again only a day after my Atlanta Food & Wine Experience and hopped on Uber Eats after dinner lol. I ordered more Butter Pecan donuts and donut holes to share (with my damn self). It's not safe for me to find sweet things I like because now I've got to find new exercises to work off these donuts! read more

Customer service is LACKING. First experience was rough a few months ago-- only customer in and after my order was taken, the girl just started cleaning. After 10 minutes with no other customers and no drink made, I asked for a refund. Went back for the first time on 2/8/26 around 9:10am and the same girl took my order. She had the same "woe is me" "sad girl" attitude that she had last time. After I ordered, I sat and waited and watched her serve 2 other customers that were behind me in line. She made their drinks immediately after they ordered and I had to wait. I get the feeling she's homophobic and will not be returning. You can't make a warm coffee shop with aesthetic alone. The staff is what makes the experience special and the staff at the Krog street location are not it. Will not be returning. This girl should not work with the public. read more
