I've been to a lot of fine hotels but I have to say that this one rivals them all. Such a wonderful little town. Georgia guidestones down the road...how awesome is that? Nice downtown shops that unfortunately we were unable to visit due to it being Sunday.... first class accommodations. If you're close to this area...STOP...you will not regret it.

We checked into a beautiful hotel this past weekend. Our problems started with the check in clerk.(she was as cold as a popsicle). She was not what we expected as a welcoming clerk. We opened the door to our room, and it was extremely hot.( There was a fan near the entrance). We called down and talked to the unfriendly clerk to let her know that the air was not working. We asked if there was a maintenance person who could come up to check it out. She said, no there was not a maintenance person working. We asked for a manager, and she told us the manager does not work on the weekend. After trying to get the air to work, we asked for another room. Again, she said no, there was not another available room. She instructed us to go to the 3rd floor to get ice from the machine and put it in the bucket behind the fan. We did that, but with the high temperature outside and inside our room, that didn't really help. We called back and asked for suggestions and was told we can leave and go stay elsewhere. It was late evening and not many places in this small town, so we really didn't much choice, other than stay there. The clerk suggested that we leave our room door open to get air from the hallway (UNACCEPTABLE) After checking out the next morning, we asked again for a manager to call us concerning this issue. The manager still has not returned our phone call. The temperature was 88 degrees in our room.

Outstanding renovation of a lovely structure I grew up with over 50 years ago! 27 clean, well furbished & comfortably furnished rooms, some with compelling views of the town "square" with fountain etc. Staff is extremely helpful and noise level is low, except in the dining room on Homecoming night. We loved our stay and if the creeks don't rise, hope to return for another reunion ‼

A coworker suggested I stay at another hotel about an hour away, based on his stays in the past. The lady who checked me in was nice and friendly. My room looked nice at first glance. The underside of the toilet seat and its base were not clean. Mildew in the shower and along the bathroom floor. It was late and the hotel was full so I wasn't offered options of another room. There was no hot water in the shower the next morning. I waited about 20 minutes and still no hot water. Waited some more but had to endure a really cold shower on a very cold day. I mentioned the lack of hot water to the front desk clerk who said there is only one hot water heater and it always runs out when the hotel is full. I suggested the hotel upgrade the current equipment or get an additional one. The clerk just shrugged her shoulders as if it would never happen. Since I was running late, I picked up the grab & go breakfast bag. Another big disappointment as the banana was brown and the bagel was past its expiration date. Another fail! Next time I will listen to my coworker and stay in another town. I suggest avoiding this hotel until they get their hot water situation fixed.

I have stayed here about five times in the past two years and this is my first time writing a…read morereview for them. So first I have to say my apologies for holding back. This hotel is located on one of the main streets that run through Hartwell. Is conveniently located near restaurants and across the street from Walmart. Which is great if you leave any items at home. There's also a Dollar General store that it shares a parking lot with. The customer service here is wonderful. Everyone is very warm and welcoming. In my pass five stays I have had only two small issues and both were resolved quickly. One being the toilet handle came off in my room some months ago , maintenance was not available at the time so they probably assisting me with moving my room because they understood how important it was to have a working toilet. Today on this visit the floor of the foyer area in my room was a little sticky. I called downstairs and let the front desk know . It wasn't even two minutes before someone was in my room cleaning the floor. All the staff your truly makes you feel welcome and as if you are family. I come here often for fishing and friends. They have started back with the serve yourself breakfast buffet. Last time I stayed it was grab and go due to the pandemic. It's summer time now and the pool is clean a cool. The hotel choices here in Hartwell are limited. This Hampton Inn is the number one Hotel in Hartwell. I'm assuming that's why this is also the pricecie one. Because of fishing and being extremely close to Lake Heartwell that's why these rooms are so expensive. I have stayed in nicer rooms in major cities by Hampton Inn for less. On average the basic room here is about $150-$200 a night. And again I personally feel this is because of it being located near Lake Hartwell and there's no really competition here. If another hotel chain was to come to town this location would really have to step it up on their amenities and style in the rooms. The customer service is already immaculate and on point. That's the reason why I pay the extra money and stay here instead of the quality inn down the street for half the price. Ultimately Do I recommend this location? YES I DO . But my message for corporate is you may want to consider lowering the price here or upgrading the rooms and amenities to make it fair for customers.

IF I could give this place a ZERO I would !! This location…read morewas not only unprofessional, but deeply discriminatory. I arrived with a confirmed reservation paid for through CRS Housing, yet from the moment I walked in, I was treated differently than the white guests checking in before me. The front desk employee greeted them warmly, but when it was my turn, her entire demeanor changed -- no greeting, no courtesy, just immediate hostility. The difference in treatment was obvious, and it set the tone for what became a clear case of racial profiling. She repeatedly insisted my card was "declining," even though the incidentals had already been charged. I attempted to show her the transaction on my account, and she refused to look, raised her voice, and became confrontational. When I asked for the manager's contact information, she slammed his business card on the counter instead of handing it to me respectfully. Instead of resolving the issue, she escalated the situation by calling the police on me -- a paying guest -- simply for asking for clarification and proper service. I was then banned from the property based on false accusations, including claims that I threatened her. These accusations were completely untrue. My 17‑year‑old, who never even stepped out of the car, was also falsely mentioned in her story. When I attempted to speak with the manager, he repeatedly cut me off and hung up on me instead of listening. The entire situation was mishandled, disrespectful, and rooted in bias. No guest should ever be treated this way, especially when they have done nothing wrong. I will not be returning to this location, and I strongly urge corporate to investigate the conduct of the staff involved.
