This place is wonderful. The owners are always improving something. All cottages are well kept and very clean. Highly recommend.

The company provided a detailed manual of instructions, attractions, and notes (Wi-Fi, lock box) prior to check-in. We were also surprised with some sweet treats and a bottle of wine upon arrival. The Black House on Beech is a small stunner called The Starling. Perhaps The Startling might be more apropos because it is a 2-story 3BR, 2BA house on a small footprint painted a pure matte black. Inside is modern and simple, decorated in black and white. They've considered every comfort -- there's a sauna, a hot tub, fire pit and hammock-- outside. Connect to the house Wi-Fi, watch a movie, play some tunes on the turntable, challenge your companions to a few board games--inside. Or walk a few minutes to Staymaker Restaurant at Journeyman Distillery, stock up on staples at Froehlich's Kitchen & Pantry, or enjoy a casual lunch/brunch at Oaks Eatery. This is a fine getaway for a small group or family. We only had a small mixup with the Wi-Fi but they were very responsive and this was cleared up right away. All the amenities at a small and quiet oasis. We didn't use the sauna but will be ready to try it on a return visit.

The house was beautifully appointed, with a fantastic pool, hot tub, and breathtaking views. But more important than the house was the service and the "little extras" provided by Juniper Holiday + Home. From start to finish, they communicated everything we needed, making the trip easy and enjoyable. When we asked questions about the area and concierge services for our celebration, they were attentive and helpful. I can't say enough great things about the entire experience--my friend loved every moment of her celebratory vacation!

Lets begin by saying these apartments are old, in a charming way. They are made up of small, 1 br…read moreunits (four of them), located off of Little Paw Paw Lake in a nice quiet neighborhood. Those are its positives points. I am positive that these apartments are not suited for being occupied all year round. Maybe at one point they were summer vacation rentals. Summer is the best time to stay in them, and even then, there are bugs everywhere that will find their way inside. Ants, spiders, pill bugs, centipedes, ear wigs, and silverfish. If some of these bugs sound strange to be inside a home, its because most of these bugs feed off of MOIST, decaying matter. Which leads me to the problems of Fall, and Winter... Moisture will become trapped, due to daily activites like cooking and showering, because: There is no ventilation. There are no vent fans to push air OUT. The building itself could also be constantly moist because of an unsealed dirt crawl-space, and the integrity of the flat-top roof is also questionable. Regardless of the reasons-- where there is moisture, there is also MOLD. The mold is the biggest deterrent. When I discovered the apartment had mold, I was horrified. What was more shocking was the landlord's reluctence and denial to do anything to about it. His solution was to "open the windows to let the moisture out". But there are only 3 out of 8 windows that actually open-- and the solution in the winter is to constatly run the electric, baseboard heat, and dehumidifer. He told us to clean the mold ourselves, or "If you do not like it, you can leave." And I would have, if I had the money at the time or a place to go to. For the rest of my time there, other things needed fixing. The handyman would do his best, but ultimately things would be left incomplete, or left in a state where I'm pretty sure they aren't up-to-code. There were a definite lack of standards. This was the worst experience I have ever had with an apartment and a landlord. I am still horrifed by the lack of understanding, or willingness to maintain the apartment up to a standard.
