Came here a few days ago with some of my friends and originally planned on just a few drinks but we couldn't resist trying the perch basket! It was delicious! The staff was excellent, especially the bus boy! He was on top of everything!!! Also very tall and funny, loved the service!!! Came back again for breakfast, service was good. Just went for breakfast. Sat outside by the lake. Was kinda nice except for ther servers forget about outside. Ordered food and food was ice cold and the bacon was burnt to a crisp. I asked for to speak to a manager and I waited 20min before I got up to leave. As im walking out the server said she couldnt find the manager. Food was good this past summer and the service was good even when they got packed. Manager didn't appreciate my opinion on kids running around throwing sand and proceeded to insult me. One bad apple shouldn't ruin a place but that did it for us. read more

Well, where do I start.. I walk in on a Sunday morning, at approximately 10am. Not only do I have to wait 30 minutes to be seated, but I am waiting in an area where I must move because the waitresses and busboys keep having to go by. Worst layout ever for a restaurant. I notice that one of the busboys who is making the coffee, is preparing the filter wrong..the paper filter was sticking out. (Will get to the results of this later..). He was also biting his nails and touching his face without washing his hands. DISGUSTING. I am finally seated and asked for what to drink.. I choose my regular, coffee. I get the coffee, take one sip and immediately wish I would have thrown myself into a black abyss instead of coming here. It tasted of motor oil and lies Food is ordered, I choose the Mexican Skillet with avocado (a whopping 1.5 dollar up charge for a mere half of an avocado). And.. another 20 minutes goes by. The food finally comes and ... no utensils. It takes several minutes to get the attention of what I assume is the owner (as he paced back and forth with an aggravated face, upsetting not only me but the waitresses who were doing their best to seat people), he gets me utensils and I start eating.. The food was on the absolute threshold of 'horrible' and 'edible', although it left me feeling sick for over a half hour after consuming. The best thing about it was the overpriced avocado, but it was all so, so very greasy. I would rather throw myself into a black abyss than return to this establishment. If you want breakfast food in Cedar Lake, go to the Cedar Lake Kitchen only 5 minutes away. I have never in my life never felt this ill after eating breakfast. Seriously, horrible. read more

Where else can you get amazing food at a great price and sit with your toes in the sand on a beach? ...This isn't you're typical Flo waitress carrying a big tray of everyone's food at once in her polyester suit .. boring! ...I went with 8 people was it staggered. .yes... less than a minute apart because your smiling wait staff carried your food herself and there is probably another waitress with the rest in her hands right behind her coming with the rest... burgers to die for! .... This is a very unique and awesome place to go. You can sit outside at a table in the sand and listen to live music which is cool. The food is good, not always consistent though. Location is wrong on yelp; we were driving through town looking at real estate and thought it might be nice to dine on the water. It took us a while to find. When we arrived, we came through the open back door to the outdoor seating where there were many tables open. Within a few minutes, we were admonished not to enter the back, but to come through the front door so the staff would be aware that we came in. Silverware and two menus were set in front of us and the hostess walked off in a huff. Not starting off on a good note, we decided not to dine. read more

The stars are not for the food which is just ok...its for the cold drinks and the patio area which on a summer day overlooks the lake and is like being on vacation and at a beach shack in Mexico or the Caribbean...it was quiet and peaceful, you could hear the boats, the water, and people laughing and enjoying their day. My girlfriend and I heard about this place from a friend. We gave it a shot and really enjoyed it. We had breakfast and the food was hot and delicious. I had the Sand Bar omelette, she had the 2x4. We ate outside and fortunately the weather was perfect for dining out on their patio. I'm sorry I can't remember her name, maybe Christen?, our sever , was on top of it the whole time. Imagine a place that has quality food and a perfect location off Cedar Lake. Will there ever be a place like that? Well, there is. It is called the Sandbar Grill. You can eat your quality food and eat on the beach and watch the beautiful lake. There are some flaws. The restaurant is outdated and is sort of cluttered. If they made it more modern and added more space, I would give it five stars. Overall, it is a good place to hang out and relax. read more

Just moved to cedar lake a few months ago and have fallen in love with this place. Good beer selection and great food with the option to eat outside overlooking the lake. So far every time I go I have gotten something different and have not been disappointed. Best part is they have my favorite fish(blue gill) there at a reasonable price. Stopped for a snack. To drink we just had water. It was well water and tasted of salt from the water softner. Was not told about water being from well until I told waitress it tasted bad. Ordered chips and salsa. Salsa not very good as well as the mozzarella sticks which left a bad taste in mouth. To top it off the prices were way too high for the quality of food. The Sandbar is a really great, family friendly, no frills place that is my family's go to brunch and lunch place. Service is hit or miss..We've had super great, friendly servers and some not so friendly servers who act like customers are an inconvenience. We always expect and plan for a longer wait to be seated and/or to get our food on the weekends when they get super busy. The food is worth the wait though! When we go for brunch, my husband enjoys the Mexican omelette, and our favorite lunch choice is the jalapeno burger. read more

We just moved to the area and my husband and I were hoping this would be a great spot for our weekend breakfast with the fam. To our disappointment when we did finally get our food it was cold, when we mentioned it to the waitress she took it an nuked it, which made the bacon rubbery and the eggs inedible. We have been here a few times. Love the Lake Perch and the grilled vegetables that they serve with the dinners are fantastic! The view from the back room or outside on the beach is beautiful especially at sunset. They were very busy one time that we went and they quickly cleared a table for us. Service can be slow at times but they cook everything to order so keep that in mind. read more

Went to sandbar July 5th for breakfast with a party of 7. There was no wait and were seated immediately. They were VERY short handed. It took atleast 20 minutes to get our drink orders taken so we put our meal order in at the same time. Everything came out staggered, so we didn't really get to eat together. The kitchen should really work on that! We ordered biscuits & gravy to share... That came out like it was our appetizer, not our desire but after waiting about 40 minutes for food I was happy to get anything. The biscuits & gravy were decent, could have used more salt and pepper in the gravy, biscuits were good. Next our breakfasts trickled out 1 by 1. No ones hash browns were cooked properly, not browned at all and the food was just warm, not hot. My husband didn't like his skillet at all and he isn't one to dislike anything. He said it was flavorless. My skillet was ok, but I covered it in hot sauce. I just can't get over the hash browns not being done & the small amount of cheese in the skillets! It was literally a pinch of 3-5 shreds. By the time everyone was finished with their meals I still had no pancakes. 5 min later they arrive but with no syrup so I had to use the lil bit my husband still had. The pancakes were pretty good, nothing special but tasty. I may go back again, but only because it's a fun location. read more

Something with this place is seriously broken! I returned here on July 6th for breakfast mainly because my daughter liked eating on the beach. I ordered a Denver omelette, my wife ordered pancakes and a side of hash browns and the kids ordered Mikey mouse pancakes. After about 15 minutes the kids both got their order, 10 minutes after that I got my omelette and the waitress said she would be right back with my wife's food. After 10 more minutes I waved down the waitress and asked about the pancakes, she said "I'm going to get it now"...20 minutes later she returns with the pancakes! Everyone had been finished eating for at least 15 minutes and she was nowhere to be found...it took 50 minutes to make pancakes!!! Don't know if it's the cooks or the wait staff or management but something is seriously wrong with this place! I overheard the people at the table behind us had the same problem...after trying this place three times I can now say I will not return...by the way my omelette wasn't half bad and my kids liked the pancakes but this is a restaurant and breakfast should be easily prepared and served quickly. read more

As a long term customer of the sandbar sad to say I will not be returning. Last couple of times tasted bland for the price of the food. Pieces of the chicken were dark and hard to chew. (chicken bacon ranch wrap) had an issue with the carryout to where I had to return to the restaurant 3 different times because the order was wrong. Managers/employees never addressed the issue claimed he didn't know why that happened,full of I'm sorry with no results. Second time customer and extremely disappointed they allow smoking on the outside patio which is a unique, love fresco dining. First visit the people were smokers and the smoke drifted our way, I thought surely the waitress would ask them to refrain or go to the parking lot but no nothing was said. Today I brought some people from out of town and thought I would try one more time, the sand was full of cigarette butts yikes and they was a table full of smokers that came ten minutes after we arrived.I mentioned to the waitress how surprised I was that smoking was permitted and she stated well its outside, "Really" I would enjoy going back the food was good and service was awesome, however, not worth having to inhale second hand smoke. read more
