UPDATE: After posting my original review, the company reached out to me directly and worked to resolve the issues I had been experiencing. They offered to send the correct smooth stones and refund my purchase, which I really appreciate. While I wish I hadn't had to go through the frustration described in my original review to get to this point, I absolutely believe in giving a company credit when they step up and make things right. Their response after seeing my review was prompt, professional, and genuinely focused on resolving the problem. I'm very happy they reached out and made the effort to turn my experience around. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I have been trying to resolve a very simple order issue since May. I placed a $5,801.38 sauna order and paid an additional $99 specifically for upgraded rounded/smooth sauna stones. The upgraded stones I paid for were not provided. I first contacted The Sauna Place on May 6. Customer service responded and acknowledged the issue. I clarified that I received the rough stones rather than the upgraded smooth stones I ordered and asked them to simply send the correct product. It is now August and this still has not been resolved. On August 3, I contacted them again and requested either the stones I paid for or a $100 refund. Their automated response said I could expect a reply within a few hours. Five days later, after receiving no response, I followed up again. I have now also called both customer-service numbers and left voicemails. This is an incredibly disappointing level of customer service for a company that accepted nearly $6,000 from us. I am not asking for anything unreasonable--I simply want the product I paid for or my $99 refunded. I will gladly update this review if The Sauna Place resolves the issue. read more

Ordered a sauna, I am replacing an existing unit that I also purchased here 10/12 years ago. They emailed asking them to call , I emailed explaining that I was replacing existing unit and I don't answer the phone. They did not reply and asking them to ship it to me several times I asked them to cancel the order. This is after waiting for a month to to find out they don't carry the thermostat I wanted , they told me they would forward an order number but never did. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!!! DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR BUSINESS!!! THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY & WILL NOT HELP YOU IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG!!! Here's what happened: I originally was working with Chris Marinucci as my salesperson. He was helpful but he was on the paternity leave & I had to work with Anton Gabriel, who was also helpful but quick to bail as soon as problems started. Brian Mitchell stepped in and was OUTSTANDING & solved all initial problems, so I'm VERY GRATEFUL to him. Unfortunately, the shipment that was sent to me today didn't contain a SAUNA!!!! I only received the heater that was sent apparently from their internal stock, which they failed to tell me. THEY HAVE NO CLUE WHAT THEY'RE SHIPPING!!! Chris also wanted to sell me a lower quality heater ( not sure why..., maybe was trying to unload their stock???) while I SPECIFICALLY told him that I needed the highest temp I'd get in the US. The reason is that it's for my mother who's in constant pain and her current medications give her hallucinations & Sauna at that temp is the ONLY thing that helps her calm her pain down & get at least some sleep. He also got pretty upset that I talked directly with harvia and didn't say good things about them. I'll spare you of the info he shared, which I found pretty unprofessional. I lined up the installer & the electrician who now LOST THEIR WAGES bc they had NOTHING to work with. When I called the Sauna Place to ask for at least some compensation for the mishap for the tradesmen, I got yelled at by Brian who is alleged Chris' boss. When I asked him to please not yell at me, he said that this call was done & hung up on me. He also flatly denied that I was told that sauna was shipped. I'VE AN EMAIL WHERE ANTON GABRIEL STATES THAT SAUNA IS IN TRANSIT & BLAMES DUNDALK FOR EVERYTHING. Also, Chris was very CURT & SHORT W ME when I said that the tradesmen deserve some compensation. Mind you, I was on the phone with them & the freight company since last night & 7:30 in the morning & I'm still dealing with this... I also lost wages and have to work all day tomorrow/Sat. to get my work done but it was not about me, it was about these honest tradesmen who lost an opportunity to get their job done. Now, I don't have anyone to help me to hand unload to inspect the sauna if something is missing or defective. The only reason this isn't a 5-Star review is because the instructions for putting the sauna together were complicated and also not exactly accurate. It is an outside sauna so we needed an experienced carpenter to help decipher. Now that it is up, the sauna itself is wonderful - high grade materials throughout. That said, THE SAUNA PLACE was accurate in giving all the details involving purchase, quality of materials, timing, shipping, customer service and overall helpfulness. I am happy with the pre-fab 5x7 Cedro outdoor sauna that I purchased from Sauna Place, but it has been a rugged road getting to this point. The folks at Sauna Place are a nice enough bunch but have not shown much interest in making me feel any better about all the extra work and time I had to put into constructing the sauna owing to problems caused by their shop (a different company, actually), and an omission Sauna Place made when sending the specs to the shop. In no particular order, here are some tips if you decide to buy a Cedro Sauna from Sauna Place: 1. If you specify any customization outside of their standard models, be triple sure that the shop has received all of the specs. In my case, I had asked for the power inlet to be on a different wall than the heater, but they neglected to do this and as a result I ended up having to drive to the shop to have a wall panel modified. 2. The shop had run fasteners through the conduit in a few locations, making it impossible to fish #10 romex through the conduit. Of course I only figured this out when I had assembled the entire sauna and had electricians on site to do the wiring. To repair I had to disassemble almost the entire sauna in order to bring individual panels to the shop for repair. Grrr... 3. Their assembly instructions are pretty good, BUT: They make a big deal about the upper bench being held up by cleats that you are supposed to screw into a horizontal 2x4 in the wall at 32 3/4" from the floor. But if you put the cleats under the 4" bench frame, you are well below 32" (since top of bench is supposed to be at 36"), and there is nothing other than 1/2" cedar wall to screw into at that point. I ended up securing the benches to the wall by just screwing the 2x4 in the bench frame at the 32 3/4" height. Plenty strong. See photo for details. It drives me crazy when instructions don't correspond with reality. Makes you wonder if you have screwed up, or if you haven't, that they have screwed up. Not sure which is worse.. 4. SHIPPING: Once you get a tracking # for the shipment (you have to ask for this, they don't tell you), you have to make an appointment for the delivery - it's not Amazon where this stuff appears on your doorstep. I didn't know this (although they do note it at the time of order) and was expecting the delivery time noted by UPS Freight on their tracking web page. When the sauna wasn't delivered, I finally called UPS Freight and was told that I needed to make an appointment. Another two day delay.... 5) DELIVERY: So UPS Freight shows up with a lift gate equipped truck, but guess what...the extended 2x4 palette constructed by the shop is almost as wide as the width of the truck so the driver can't easily swivel the palette to get it onto the lift gate. After 1/2 hour of twisting and torquing the palette, he is finally successful, but in the course of this operation the whole damn thing almost fell into the street. As you can see in the photo, the top box was forced open by this whole procedure. If the strapping had failed it would have been a disaster. Luckily nothing inside was damaged although one end of the extended palette was destroyed in the process. All in all, I am happy with the sauna and it is working well. Communications with Josh were timely and courteous other than the omission mentioned above. Sauna Place is overwhelmed with orders so there is a long lead time. It was about 3 months in my case. Outside of their arranging with the shop to have repairs done (which required my time and expense to transport the panels to/from shop), I am bewildered by Sauna Place's lack of response to all the trouble I had. No apology, offer of any kind of amends, etc, despite several phone calls and emails from me. I suppose they are not concerned about repeat business. Who needs more than one sauna? read more

Josh was great in answering all of my questions. He did all he could to get me the products I needed. I did have to go elsewhere for a sauna door, as there product either out of stock, damaged, or not what I preferred. Caution to all my fellow seniors. I purchased 8KW for 245 cu ft sauna. The Finlandia is very, very efficient, and I would suggest you purchase no more than 6KW, if less than 300 cu ft. My heating controls are usually set at 40% of max. Additionally, pay the extra funds and get electronic controls that are mounted outside the sauna room. If you're 60 or older, you discover than controls on the heater are best left to the younger clients. I highly recommend these people for their integrity and willingness to go the extra mile to help. read more
