"Savage, Not Average!" Boy, were they RIGHT! We're on our way from WA to MT and with long stretches between towns, we were hungry when we pulled into Salmon and almost made the mistake of playing it safe (and being bored ) with the "Other Place" up the street. But when you're on an adventure, you do adventurous things, right? So glad we did! Hubby ordered a Grilled Ham n Cheese and I went with a Mushroom Swiss Burger. They proudly customize burgers any way you want! I also noticed and appreciated that the burger patties were hand smooshed instead of mechanically squeezed to death (it sure looked a lot bigger than your typical franchise burgers!). There were several high schoolers doing a great job handling the kitchen and taking orders! Hubby attacked his GH&C sandwich too quickly so I didn't get a pic, but they were very generous with the ingredients and he enjoyed every bite. After reading some of the past reviews, it looks like the new owners have really turned things around. Kudos to them! ORDERED 2 hot dogs $5 each BIG MISTAKE !!!! They were crappy, I don't know where they get them from but they were not as good as if I had bought a package 8 for a dollar Will not return. I can't imagine what they serve for their kids hot dog One star is generous!!!!! read more

The food offerings were such a variety of tastes! And everything we had was an 11 and off the tasting scale. It was so good we could not help ourselves and went back the next week to make sure we could believe our taste buds and that experience was excellent as well. There were a ton of people there so the service took longer than a split second however the attitude of the service workers was just terrific. Total respect for the customers. We ordered two half pound burgers with cheese and bacon it took two hours to cook the meal The tots were mushy then steamed. The burgers were dry . There were no condiments on the burger when I got there my blood sugar was 160 by the time we got the food .my blood sugar had dropped to 59 when I went in and ordered I was at160. I don't think it should be that hard to get meals out. They put orders ahead of ours. That's why it took them two hours to get ours done. read more

Haven't been here for a couple years as while pregnant with my son I couldn't handle "heart attack in a sack" type restaurants. Last night was yummy goodness. Ate here last year on the mudd lick fire and got an assignment to the moose fire this year and was excited to come back. I love the town of Salmon Idaho plus it has this place. All the nay sayers that are upset about the name are odd but I'm not politically correct any. The owner named it so who care. The food was great as always. The burgers are epic and cooked up to order. It's a small burger joint that I enjoy. Glad to come back with the fire crew and have lunch before the next assignment. This is the "high school" tribute place in town. All about SHS sports and history. It's small and kinda slow sometimes but omg the burgers and especially the garlic fries are amazing!! And be sure to get a milkshake. They're awesome. read more

Pretty Upset with my order. Got 3 Chicken Strips and 3 Fish Sticks. There was Mustard all over the container. Didn't order Mustard. Also, one of the Fish Sticks batter was removed ... pretty sure it was dropped in Mustard. Pretty Disgusting ... cost $12.00 / With Covid I would not go back... Disgusting. The burgers are over cooked and full of dripping grease. The chicken strips were chunks of breading with really nothing that resembles chicken inside. Stopped here based on the reviews and was not disappointed at all. We were a little skeptical walking in but the food was amazing. The lady at the register was extremely helpful and they even worked with the peanut allergy our group had. The Burger: Got the 1/2lb cheeseburger. The first thing I noticed was the bun. The bun was amazing!!! Not sure if it was but it almost tasted like a sourdough bread...extremely soft and fluffy which was perfect. The burgers are also hand made everyday and you could surely tell they were. The toppings were fresh and extremely good. I have eaten at higher end burger places and those burgers don't even come close!!! The sweet potato fries were also amazing!! Got a 2nd order... Will surely stop here again!!! read more

My wife, kids and I came in to grab something on our way back home from visiting family. We ordered the Savage Burger with jalapeños and bacon and Garlic fries, onion rings and fried pickles. Our burgers were amazing! Came with all the right sauces the garlic fries were ok, and the pickles were overdone but I would recommend coming just for the Burgers! Absolutely amazing!! I had chicken fried steak sandwich and fried green beans. It was good. Served on a nice bun (not hamburger bun) piece of good looking lettuce and a small slice of tomato. The fried green beans were pretty tasty. With a drink it was over 12 bucks. A little high for what I got. You order at a counter so you don't have to tip so that would have changed the bill another couple of bucks. If that matters to you. They had some other salads and flat bread items that I may try before I leave town. Everything in this town that I have seen is a little high so this may be about the best you can do. read more

Damn fine food! Excellent service! The young woman made fresh iced tea at my request for me and even walked the cup to the table. She was so kind. She also held our bill till after we ate because we thought we might want to add ice cream. My husband changed his order three times and the staff just laughed and made the changes without a blink. Super friendly. The burger was great, the fries were great, the tea was strong and fresh, and the ice cream is real and not soft serve. This is a must stop place in Salmon! read more

Food was wonderful, even recommended what to get since I have Celiac and can't have gluten. The best part though was a waitress names Hannah. My husband & I were traveling back to Montana after having spent the holidays in Utah. When we got home I realized I left my purse at the Savage Grill where we stopped to have something to eat. I highly recommend their fries. They are the best fries I've ever had. The burgers are ok, and the milk shakes are pretty good. The wait time is usually slow but everything is cooked fresh. I'm from Vegas & I love to dine out as much as possible. I am staying here for one week and crave for the French fries here. The fried pickles were excellent and the Kylar Wrap was great (I got mine with no BBQ) The staff was super friendly and when the Pepsi ran out we didn't even have to tell them they knew it before anyone could say anything.
