The service and some remodeling would help a lot. I went in there on a Sunday figuring I might be able to still get a breakfast at midday. I could not. OK, so I ordered a sandwich. The boost were packed so I sat at the counter. When I finally got the waitresses attention who was just in front of me by 3 feet. I ordered. That's after waiting about 45 minutes. After about another 45 minutes the waitress got my sandwich, turned around and handed to me as I was 3 feet away. Then, she disappeared. I heard her say to another waitress you know where I'm going. I waited and waited and waited. She never came back. I finally asked another waitress to get my check. I went to the cash register and they said no, you have to pay at that cash register over there.??? So, I did that and I did not leave a tip. Zero, because my service was a zero people forget, TIP means to ensure promptness. The only reason I was at buddies is I thought they might serve a breakfast midday. Excellent dining experience in Salmon, Idaho. After a recent ownership change, the new owner installed new lighting, much needed new kitchen equipment and is repairing the parking lot, previously legendary for its terrible condition. The food is great, and is served very quickly. Prices are up a bit recently (like everywhere else these days), but are still quite reasonable. The menu is varied, and the food is delicious. A baker has recently been added, so fresh baked goods will soon be available. I'm especially impressed with the wait staff and cooks. Waitress Kathy is a favorite among the regulars and new customers alike, and she somehow tolerates us early morning curmudgeons with a smile and friendly banter. She does seem to be the glue holding things together, and is rarely seen enjoying an idle moment. I spoke with the new owner briefly shortly after he bought the place. He wants it to be known that he is here for the long haul, and has big plans for improvements. Since he has already done much to improve Buddy's, he can certainly be taken at his word. read more

Ok service, ok food from this gas station diner set in an area with little competition. Waitress slow to refill coffee - we had to ask after ten or more minutes. Also forgot condiments and placed orders wrong on table. Food was ok, nothing to write home about but passable. Downer was omelette that contained about two bits each of ham, peppers, onion etc. Really? I could do better at home blindfolded and handcuffed. That poor excuse for an "omelette" was worth an egg or two, but certainly not the full boat price charged. Buddy's was definitely a once in a lifetime event for myself and group. read more

This is a small town diner inside of a gas station. It is very country. When I ate there it was clean. The food was good. The best part of the whole dining experience was listening to the locals gossip about things. The drinks are cold and delicious and you can go shopping for the things that you need before your trip after you eat. This place is located not far from the Salmon River and during the summer months it is beautiful to view. read more

Eat there a lot. Food is always good. As good as any breakfast in Salmon none are exceptional. This is an old fashioned diner with mostly old fashioned food. I always enjoy the chats while in buddies. If you expect all this gluten free, meat free meals your in the wrong place. I heard California has plenty. read more

First time here. If i could give less than 1 star, I would! I Came for breakfast with my husband and friends. I ordered pancakes, eggs and a sausage patty. What came was he's sausage links, hash browns and toast. The waitress took it back and, I got to watch everyone eat and finish their breakfast before mine came then the only thing that wasn't cold was my sausage. The waitress never came to check on us, then charged me full price for a shitty breakfast and terrible service. If you want a decent hot breakfast skip this place. read more

Food was horrible. Ordered a cheese burger kids meal the sandwich only came with cheese and ketchup that was wiped off the bottom. Ordered mushroom and swiss online says it comes with bacon and jalapenos not a single slice of either. Worst part who puts lettuce tomatoes pickles on a mushroom and swiss? It was just gross. I myself had the Malibu chicken sandwich. Wasnt too bad but no honey mustard sauce just clobbs of mayo lettuce and tomatoes. Hamburgers were smaller then the bun. Fries weren't done and neither was my side order of mushrooms. Gross when you bit into an under cooked mushroom. Never have I eaten here in the five years I've lived here so I was like sure I'll try it out. NOPE never again. That was the worst 35 dollars ive ever spent. I dont recommend this place to anybody. Never going to eat here again. I am a vegetarian. Went for my birthday because I wanted a veggie burger, and had eaten here plenty of times before. I loved their veggie burger, because they used my favorite brand. I always ordered it with mushrooms and swiss, instead of what they usually put on the veggie burger. So when our food came, I lifted up the bun like I usually did to make sure they got it right (they often didn't. But we still kept going back anyway.) and the patty looked different. I told the waitress it looked like meat, so she took it back. Then she brought it out and told me "They say that is what we're using for our veggie patty now." So I took a bite. And it was sausage! I didn't finish it. And when we went up to the counter to pay, I told them it was sausage. And two of the employees told me "Yeah. That's sausage. That's what we're using as our veggie patty now." We were not refunded our money for my meal, or anything. I was definitely not happy, and will not be returning to Buddy's. read more
