If you've followed my reviews, or if you search them now, you will understand that the NMT has…read morestruggled with his emotional wellness over the past few years. One of his biggest struggles has been with school-based anxiety, to the point of being unable to get into the school building. His local, award-winning, nationally recognized public school worked mightily but ultimately could not provide him with an environment in which he could learn. We cycled through a couple of other independent schools that work with anxious kids with various levels of success, but ultimately did not work out. I learned about Fusion via a newspaper article in November of 2017, while the NMT was inpatient for the second time to keep him safe. I spoke with their school director, hoping to be able to send him there at discharge. Alas, they would not be open until late spring. NMT enrolled elsewhere for spring semester, did OK but by the end of summer clearly needed something else. So we went off to Fusion, where they met so warmly with him and us. I admit, I was skeptical, a bit, as was the boy's therapist. Could they really handle this kid? Deep breath. The NMT cautiously agreed to enroll. The first days were ROUGH. Really rough. He doesn't transition well, and he was anxious and terrified and angry. I was waiting for the "I'm sorry, we can't help him" call. Except...they handled him, well, beautifully. Better than the award winning nationally recognized public school or the two independent schools who work with anxious teens. They just...got him. Gave him space but kept him engaged. Slowly, he started to trust, first one teacher, then others. He started to think it wasn't so awful. Then, that it was OK. Now, 10 months later, he voluntarily enrolled in summer programming so he could avoid re-entry stress and keep moving and because he loves his time there. Recently he was angry with me over something teenager-y. He shouted "You know what? I'M GOING TO SCHOOL AND I'M NOT COMING BACK." I had to turn my back to keep from showing him the little happy dance I did with my arms. This is a kid who hated school. The bright, above average testing boy who was anxious and angry and felt he was stupid and it was a waste of time. I can't say that they could teach any kid, or that every parent will have the experience that we have. There are a lot of factors that go into his success, one of which was him making different choices, his clinical team making some medication changes that helped him, and a measure of emotional maturity kicking in, or just being weary of being in trouble all the time. I can say that Fusion's team were a significant part of that though, meeting him where he was, building the relationship first, building trust, and yes, holding him to standards and teaching too. Yeah, they really get it, how to reach the anxious school refusing kid, and they are doing great work with him. I could not be more grateful.

Both boys do not give us any problems with being dropped off and they are always very happy when we pick them up. I'm pretty surprised they have such a low rating which is very unfortunate. We wanted to love Beanstalk, but unfortunately our experience has been extremely frustrating,…read moreprimarily due to reliability and communication issues. Since our twins started about ten months ago, the center has had repeated closures due to building-related problems. In that time there have been closures related to water line issues, air conditioning failures, heating problems, and most recently a gas line issue. In 2026 alone, the center has already closed eight scheduled daycare days. For working parents, daycare isn't optional. When the center closes unexpectedly this often, it creates a huge disruption and forces families to scramble for childcare or take time off work. Communication has also been a major problem. Updates are often inconsistent or unclear, and different administrators sometimes provide conflicting information. In one case, parents were told the school would be closed for a field trip. Later that decision changed, but instead of sending a clear update to all families, some parents were contacted individually while others were not. Because we never received the update, I took PTO from work unnecessarily. To be clear, the teachers themselves are kind and caring, and we appreciate the work they do with the kids. Our frustration is with the management and the building-related issues that continue to disrupt families. When you're paying thousands of dollars per month for childcare, you expect consistent operations and clear communication. Unfortunately, that has not been our experience here.

I wanted to wait before posting a review, that way I could wholeheartedly stand behind my rating…read more We have been sending our daughter to Mi Casita for nearly 6 months now and I can proudly say my wife, my daughter and myself all love Mi Casita. It is such a relief to be able to send your child to a daycare where they are excited to go and learn every day. My wife and I are both teachers (my wife even has an early childhood degree) so I feel like we were pickier than most when it came to selecting a daycare for our daughter just for the sheer fact that we know what is and is not good for young growing minds. Everything that is in place at Mi Casita is backed by research and satisfied all of our picky needs from a daycare center. If you don't know Mi Casita is a Spanish immersion School where teachers and staff only speak in Spanish unless it's a safety concern or something to that effect. Now we do not speak Spanish at home, from speaking with other parents a rough estimate is able 50% of families speak Spanish at home and 50% speak English or a different language in their homes. The school as a whole is a diverse learning community with students and staff from various backgrounds. I love that they specifically look for teachers from various parts of the Spanish speaking world as there are so many different dialects I feel like it is smart to expose these young learners to as many different accents and dialects as possible. The school is a project based learning environment, each month there is a newsletter that is sent out that goes over the unit that will be the topic of focus for the month. Teachers do a tremendous job of pulling together different resources that are age appropriate for students that tie back into the central theme for the month. We always enjoy seeing the updates on different projects the students learn about and create while at school. They have an outdoor play space with grass, garden area, sandbox, and asphalt track around the outside. They work hard to get the kids outside most days except when the weather doesn't permit. I'm of the belief that there is no bad weather only inappropriate clothing... But I'm sure not all parents agree with me when their kids are out in pouring rain haha so I understand why the students are not outside every day. However any day that students are not outside they get plenty of time in the gym for gross motor development. The gym is a large indoor play space with different shape mats, balls and obstacles for students to play on. They bring in outside professionals (who are awesome) to do afternoon enrichment like art, music and gardening. As a bee keeper myself I was so excited to hear that they have had an apiarist come in with a hive to speak with the older students about bees and bee keeping. My kiddo loves music day and I'm always sure to kill some time before picking her up so she doesn't miss any music time! In the times of COVID they have been very cautious (and rightly so) to keep all of the students and staff safe. They communicate through brightwheel (an application on your phone where you can see photos and short videos of your kid that the teachers post.) To keep everyone in the loop on contact tracing and communication on learning throughout the day. Payment is also done through brightwheel. I am a firm believer in you pay for what you get. I wouldn't get discount Lasik and I'm not sending my child to a discount daycare. It isn't cheap but well worth it. The teachers are top notch and deserve all of the praise in the world. The assistant in my daughter's room can do things with toddler hair that I didn't think was possible. Nearly everyday my daughter comes home with a new adorable hairdo but she won't sit still for us to even make an attempt. Haha. We are so happy to be part of the Mi Casita community, 5 stars, hands down, best decision for our young learner!

Out of all of the excellent area schools, both private and public, we chose Friends School…read moreHaverford (FSH). Initially, we were drawn to the play-centered learning approach for the younger children, however, there was so much more from which to benefit. The teachers and staff consider the whole child, their social, emotional, and intellectual development. Guided by Quaker principles, the community is at the heart of its mission. The children are taught to discover and appreciate the uniqueness of themselves and others. I always feel informed with weekly updates, class newsletters, and monthly breakfast meetings with the principal. Lower student-teacher ratios increase children's engagement and allow for individual needs to be more easily met at FSH. Hearing my child say he loves school is the way it should be for all kids!

Over the last four years we have witnessed his growth both academically and socially. The relationships that he has developed with the teachers, staff and his classmates has help to mold him into a kind, intelligent funny kid. Miss H was so sweet to take care of it all while she knew I was right outside in my car waiting for it to happen and take them back home. They helped the kids from when they were 17 months to when they finally left them. I am so grateful to all the wonderful teachers the school carefully hires and Miss Vicky, who I really admire for her passion to help develop the little ones as a person. This place is run by a dictator on a power trip. My daughter spent 1 month at this disaster. At…read moredrop off on day 1, the school's second in command yelled at my wife for dropping my daughter off 15 minutes earlier than the assigned drop off time. It was the first day so we weren't aware that the school's open hours are not the same as the assigned hours for your child. It was a precursor for what was to come. In the 1 month my daughter attended here, she was sent home 4 separate times for having a runny nose, even though she was not sick. Each time she was not allowed back without a doctor's note. Each time, the doctor said she was healthy and fine. I had to watch my daughter for 13 days that month--shuttling her to doctors to get a note to satisfy the mad woman running this place. All the while, I'm paying this place (and the doctors) and hoping my work wouldn't fire me. When I brought up the ridiculousness of the policy with an email, the head kicked my daughter out of the school. The idea that the people here care about your child is a farce. Leaving this place was a blessing. If the toxic fumes from the adjacent auto repair shops are not enough for you to avoid this place, I hope my caution here gives some insight to the toxicity inside. If you do join here, make sure you don't question the supreme overlord. Or maybe you should so you can get out of your contract and go to a better place.
