Love this place! Had the salmon sandwich which was a nice portion of salmon. The sweet scones were my favourite, especially the orange cranberry but the vanilla was also good. Savoury scones that I tried included the cheddar and herbs (prefer the latter. Scones are $3.40 each, sandwiches $7.90, tea $2.55. Prices are super reasonable for the quality. The service was prompt and friendly. There are a few seats and tables for a casual get together. Would definitely come back!
I am a big fan of the SconeWitch. I love scones, so right away I was intrigued by the concept. The scones here are very flakey and on the smaller side, which makes for great sandwiches. I had the goat cheese and tomato sconewitch, which I really liked, and some of the potato kale soup they had that day, which was good and a nice way to warm up. I also took home a raspberry chocolate scone and a lemon poppy seed scone. Both were good the next day, especially after a few seconds in the microwave!
The service was very friendly. You order at the counter and then can seat yourself. They will bring your food to you, and you place your items away when you're done. I got the breakfast eggwitch with ham and cheese on a herb and onion scone. The eggs were well prepared and the scone was crumbly. It was perfect for a quick small breakfast.
I'd never had a scone as sandwich before (hence the name sconewitch)! When searching for a brunch spot to go to with my friend, this spot seemed to have some more affordable options. I went for the poached salmon and cucumber sconewitch (the herb and onion scone being my scone of choice) along with a side salad ($2 extra). For around $10, this was actually very filling! While the scone wasn't too heavy and had some airiness to it, the salmon was well seasoned and complemented my side salad - while nothing special, had a delicious hollandaise dressing drizzled on top. As a scone enjoyer, I was pretty pleased with my experience. I'd definitely want to come back and try their dessert scones/drinks! They also seem to sell local jams as well :)
A casual little spot in downtown. Small menu, but we wanted something a little lighter, and a little different.. the Scone Witch fit the bill. Very friendly staff, DELICIOUS scones! Buttery, flaky delicious herb and onion with the eggwich. The vanilla cream has such a fantastic aroma, a nice subtle sweetness and just enough vanilla to not overpower the jam. Good coffee, and great iced mocha with deep coffee flavour.
Stopped by the SconeWitch to have brunch. We've both never had scone sandwiches before so we wanted to try this place out. We came a bit too late for breakfast but we could still have their regular menu. Inside there was a bit of a line and just enough seats inside for everyone who wanted to dine in. Some of the scones and sandwiches were already sold out by the time we got there. We each ordered one scone sandwich and one scone. For the scone sandwiches, you can also choose which scone you would like. I also ordered an iced latte. The scones and sandwiches were all good. Only wished we came earlier before they sold out of certain items!
I was in Ottawa for a weekend trip and knew I had to check out The SconeWitch. Scones are the perfect flakey breakfast item for me, especially in the winter time. My sister and I came here on a Sunday morning 30 mins after opening, and they only had a few customers inside and a ton of scones available. The entrance was actually confusing to find as this place is part of an office building, and there was construction being done on the outside. You really have to utilize Google maps. In terms of scone flavours, they had savoury: feta, cheddar, herbs and garlic, and sweet: vanilla cream, orange cranberry, lemon poppyseed, oatmeal and gingerbread (flavour of the month). We ended up getting a dozen as it was so hard to choose which flavours we wanted. They also had the sconewitches, but we didn't end up getting those. They're such an interesting concept tho and I haven't seen it anywhere else really. They packed our scones in two boxes as requested and even gave us the cutest totebag to store it in. Overall, the scones were super flakey, they're a good size and oh so buttery and delicious. I love the variety of flavours they have and it's a must check out when you're in Ottawa.
The best scones ever!! We visited this place from Vancouver and it's a snowy day (-8C). It's so worth it to walk from our hotel to this place. We tried ham & Gruyère sandwich on Cheddar cheese scone & salads, melted bacon on herb & onion scone. For the sweet scones, we tried vanilla cream, cranberry & orange and lemon poppyseed- all were so good!!!!
Went to scone witch after it being highly recommended on a trip through Ottawa. The cafe is a decent size, no indoor seating currently due to covid. Take out only. They have a selection of scones, scone-witches and coffee offerings. We picked a selection of 6 scones for ~$15. They were incredible!! Still warm. So flaky and flavourful. Favourites were the cheddar and vanilla. My boyfriend who loves lemon also enjoyed the lemon poppyseed. Of note - the "low gluten" Options of raspberry and jalapeño were sold out by around 1:30PM so go early if you want those.
An absolute delight, every time. The scone sandwiches are generously stacked (highly recommend the salmon) and you can choose the type/flavour of scone to build your sandwich on. Full of flavour, always satisfying. Worth noting that they have a small gluten-free selection, as well. When I ordered one, the lovely staff asked if I had ever had one of their gluten-free scones before, and wanted to be sure that I knew what to expect as the texture was going to be slightly different. Nothing to worry about here, though - the gluten-free scones are excellent!

Arrived 10 minutes past 11 and missed the breakfast menu , boo. I orders the smoked turkey and Stilton sconewitch. It was awesome! The scone was so tender and flakey. It was really good. read more
Some of the best scones you will try. I first came here a few years ago and recently came back. The true measure of a restaurant is for me based on if they can keep consistent quality of their product month after month and year after year. SconeWitch has done that and then some. I brought an American work colleague that was saying "scones? What's the big deal about the Scone witch?" I told them the SW is the real deal and it didn't disappoint. My fave is the orange cranberry with their strawberry jam. My meal also served it up with some fresh fruit and eggs with mushroom ragu. Yum yum. Way better and more memorable than Timmy ho ho's or Mcd's! read more

Good spot for lunch in Downtown Ottawa. 6.99 for "sconewithes" and 2.99 for regular scones. I tried the tuna tomato sconewitch and the lemon poppyseed scone with homemade wild blueberry jam and devonshire cream. The lemon poppyseed scone was very flavorful - would highly recommend. Cute decor and efficient service as well. Great spot for quick lunch or to even just hanging around. read more

We were visiting from out of town & googled some places to have breakfast by our hotel. The SconeWitch is a short walk over from ARC The Hotel (less than 5 minutes). The SconeWitch was so good that we came back again on a different morning! On both days, we arrived just before 9am, which was perfect because there was no line, but as soon as we ordered & sat down there was a rush of people that came in & formed a long line. After placing our orders & receiving our drinks, we were given a table number that we placed where we were sitting. There is limited table seating (not suited for large groups unless you put a few tables together) & some counter seating by the windows. The food was served to us shortly after ordering & it was absolutely delicious! Everything was so good!! Another Ottawa recommendation from my fiance, unfortunately this one didn't quite resonate like some of the others. Maybe I should have just stuck to trying the scones. I wanted something for breakfast to start my day so I tried the bacon and cheese melt on a herb and onion scone. Presentation was awesome, but I found it to be a pretty average offering taste wise. Service was incredibly slow and they were not busy on this Tuesday morning. All in all a very average experience. read more

LOVED every bite of my breakfast this morning! Beautifully presented. Loved the selection of fruit and greens, all fresh. The scone was perfection and I want to eat the rhubarb ginger jam with a spoon. The serving of eggs was generous and I didn't finish but they were good. Loved the option to have so many delicious things to try. I'll be back!!!!! read more
I'm really happy I checked this place out! It's inside a corporate building so once inside just follow the warm and toasty smell to the lovely SconeWitch! I ordered an apple cider and the breakfast with mustard glazed ham. The eggs are the best I've ever tried. So perfectly cooked it's a crime. The breakfast also came with a salad, fresh fruit and a scone and jam. The scone was very fresh and warm. I got the orange cranberry which was yummy but a little too sweet for my taste. Next time I will try a savoury scone. I paid a little over $19 for my meal and drink which is a little pricy but very worth it! Definitely stopping by again! read more

Without an ounce of doubt, this place serves my favourite brunch meal. I'm talking about their breakfast platter in which you can choose from any one of their delectable scones, one of their to-die-for jams, creamy scrambled eggs topped with your choice of sauce, with a side of salad AND fresh fruit! I mean, could you ask for a more balanced and fulfilling meal? I highly recommend the mushroom Ragu topping on the eggs--tastes like a thick cream of mushroom! I've tried their lemon poppyseed scone with their wild blueberry jam, and my tastebuds were overjoyed. Can't wait to try their other scones! P.S. They have good coffee, too. ;) read more

I love scones, so when I was told there is a well-known scone cafe in the area I was staying, I was super thrilled! BLT with Pesto Sconewitch ($6.99+tax) was super nommy! I gotta come back to try more of their sconewitches!! If you ask, does the scone make it so much tastier? Tbh, I think if they use bread, it will still taste great! But tell me if I'm wrong, but it seems quite cheap/reasonably priced??? I haven't had sandwiches for awhile, so I'm not 100% sure! Vanilla-cream scone ($2.60+tax) was too plain. You can taste a tiny hint of vanilla flavour. Otherwise, it's a buttery tasting scone. Lemon-poppyseed scone ($2.60+tax) was better. Buttery and citrusy flavour!! Loved it! After I got the Orange-cranberry scone to go. ($2.60+tax) Although I had this a day later, I still enjoyed the orange-cranberry buttery taste! I do suggest heating it up to make the scone a bit softer but not heat it till it's moist. I HIGHLY recommend this well-known scone place in Ottawa! I will for sure come back for other sconewitches during my layover! Overall, 4/5 read more
Sconewitch is an interesting bakery/ brunch place. They use scones to make sandwiches which was something that I haven't tried before. I had the bacon melt sandwich with a tomato and red pepper soup and my girlfriend had the egg and ham platter with a vanilla cream scone with strawberry jam. The bacon melt was really good, but the tomato and red pepper soup was awful. It tasted like a water down Campbell's tomato soup. The egg and ham where okay but needed some salt, but the scone with the strawberry jam was amazing. Overall the place was over priced and crammed and the food was hit and miss. read more
Really loved this place! Forgot the name of what I ordered but it was basically a scone with egg/cheese inside and it was so good. The eggs were perfect, and the scone wasn't super dry as most scones are. The place isn't that big and it was pretty packed when I went, but I would still come back if I was ever in Ottawa again! read more

This strikes me as the kind of place that is wonderful to eat at when the owner is there to provide oversight, but best avoided otherwise. We went for an early Saturday brunch. The guy running the till seemed a little checked out while we were ordering, so my partner did a friendly, "so that's one with ham and one with veg and goat cheese, right"? Despite this, we received two orders with ham, and a passive aggressive "well, that's not what your order said--can you just pick it off?" when we pointed this out to the serving staff. We eventually negotiated some new eggs with no topping--they seemed completely unwilling to make the order right--but even these came with some large shell bits and a side of very obviously rotting strawberries (see the pic I've added). But the scone itself was fantastic! Definitely well worth the $31 we paid for the inedible rest of the meal! read more

I love the scones at Scone Witch. The vanilla scone with devons cream and strawberry jam is a hard to beat treat at any time of day! Paired with a cappuccino or latte and you've basically created the perfect marriage of flavours for your mouth. On the the savoury side, their smoked salmon breakfast and the Scone Witch sandwich is equally appealing and scores high for tastebud satisfaction. With this establishment now just around the corner from my work, it's become a new test of personal will to not want to eat there on the regular! read more

My partner and I usually have egg bennedict for brunch. But now we wanted to try something different - so we found this place called Scone Witch. We normally don't eat scones btw. He ordered Breakfast combo $12. Comes with fruits, your choice of jam, your choice of scone, smoked salmon (extra $1), scrambled eggs, and fresh fruit. It was a delicious breakfast he said. Everything was fresh, the jam was very tasty as well - the restaurant sells jam for you to buy if you'd like as well. The scone was good, wasn't too dry as I was fearing. I wasn't as hungry and ordered the "Sconewitch" $5.99. They said the ham and gruyere is the most popular... but I'm not a huge fan of cheese so I chose the poached salmon and cucumber. It was great although I would have liked the smoked salmon better I think? Overall, we had a good experience here. There is ample seating in the restaurant. Parking - street metered parking available. The staff was nice as well. read more

Adequate seating- found a spot on a Saturday at 130 pm. Friendly service Fair pricing AMAZING COFFEE Just by walking by and smelling this place you know that whatever you order will end up hitting the spot. I got the smoked turkey with Stilton+a sweet potato soup and it turned my crank. Overall great cafe! read more
Freshly baked scones that aren't imported in on the back of the green mermaid- what? Go treat yourself to some Delicious carbs in many wonderful flavors. Very flaky and fresh. We ordered the EggWitch- light breakfast , but if you need more then do the full breakfast for a larger portion. The coffee and hot chocolate were great on a cold day! read more
I heard about Scone Witch while it was still at it's old location but never got the chance to visit. It seemed a lot smaller than it's location now, so I can see why space might have been one of the reasons for the location (speculation). Since then, I've been to the new location on Elgin a few times for breakfast and lunch. I found it to be a little overwhelming the first time - they have a menu on a blackboard right behind the counter and it ranges from "sconewitches" to larger "mealwitches", desserts, a soup or two, desserts, and beverages. For breakfast, I had the Eggwitch, which had eggs, ham, and cheese in an herb and onion scone with fruit and greens/mini salad. I also had hot chocolate with marshmallows and more chocolate on top. This was much more filling than I had expected, though I found it kind of difficult to eat in sandwich form without it falling apart. It's quite messy if you try to just pick it up and eat it, even with the toothpick, and even messier if it's made with one of the gluten free scones. Even the green onion and jalapeno gluten free scone I had was delicious, but crumbled a lot. All in all tasty, but not exactly a sandwich you can eat gracefully. I like that it came with fruit and greens, and though the dressing for the mini salad was a nice and light vinaigrette, my fruit was placed in the same area and the dressing didn't go so well with that. Not to mention some of my fruit was warm. Yuck! The last lunch I remember having was a poached salmon and cucumber sconewitch, again in the herb and onion scone. I also ordered the soup of the day (there may have been another that I can't remember) - cold watermelon and mint. The sconewitch was delicious. I think I enjoyed it more than the breakfast, even though I LOVE breakfast everything. The salmon was cooked perfectly and was a decent-sized portion. There were also fresh cucumbers and greens, as well as some kind of creamy sauce, maybe dill. I believe it was also toasted, which didn't help with the crumbling situation, but it was worth it. I gave up trying to eat the watermelon soup with a spoon and just ended up drinking it from the container. It was good, but very watery and sweeter than I would have preferred. Though it's a pretty great place to eat overall, I'm not sure it's the best around. Definitely different and I do enjoy it when I go, but there's a lot of hype about it that I'm not sure it lives up to completely. The service has also been on and off for me. I understand it may take some time to get your order, but there are a couple of people taking the orders that seem.. pretentious. I got some dirty looks when I was there the first time, just trying to read the menu and decide what to get. I even asked for some help with a big smile on my face since I was so excited, and I got the worst, dismissive attitude back. It almost felt like "if you don't already know, then what are you doing here?" Just felt like I was in the way and not treated like a customer. I haven't had that same experience since, but it was very off-putting for a first impression. read more

SCONES. Who doesn't love scones? Freshly baked, creatively unique scones made into sandwiches. How can you not be in love? Pair it up with a fresh crisp salad or one of their unique hearty soups for that extra icing on top. I've tried the BLT and the ham & goat cheese scone witch (both which are phenomenal). The baked salmon is okay (but I am bias because I am not a huge fan of salmon). You can also order scones to go (don't forget to pick up one of their homemade jams and a jar of devons cream!). If you are lucky, the strawberry and yoghurt scone may be the scone of the day. Make sure you order some for home! It's a small and quaint restaurant and I am absolutely in love!!!!! read more

Visited The SconeWitch with girl friends on Saturday around 12 for brunch. It wasn't too busy so we were able to order fairly quickly. I had the Eggwitch along with an iced coffee. Total came to about 12$. My drink was handed to me right away with a number, so I was able to go sit wherever I liked. My friends joined me shortly. The iced coffee was very strong even though I had asked for it to be sweetened. I added more milk and sugar, which was available on the bar close by, along with glasses and water. Our orders came quickly. I was a bit disappointed by the portion. The menu said it came with greens, so I expected a salad, but rather it was a few fruits and some spinach leaves placed around the Eggwitch. The Eggwitch itself was VERY tasty. I had the onion scone. The scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly with the ham and cheese. Overall the service was friendly as well, and the ambience was great. I'd like to visit again to try other menu items and take some scones home! read more

Yum, yum, yummy! If there's a great place for scones, it's SconeWitch! clean space, attentive and overall nice workers and great scones! I've come here for years and the oatmeal scone is my favourite. Mind you, all the scones are delicious. I forgot to take a photo of the additional box of scones I bought to bring home. THE JAM IS ALSO DELICIOUS. I had the wild blueberry raspberry jam. I'm usually not a jam person but this jam made me buy a little jar to bring home for my SO. It isn't the cheapest but it's not as sugary and sweet tasting like jams you get from the grocery store. I highly recommend this to pair with your scone. read more
Everything is top notch at this scone joint. The scenes themselves are delicious (we tried 5 different types), and all of the little sides (creams and jams) are fantastic accompaniments to an already awesome product. All put together, things will get a little pricey, but it's definitely good enough that I would make a return visit at some point. read more
I tried out this new location with friends during lunch. The scones were very fresh, and paired perfectly with some fresh cream and jam. The sandwich is also delicious. Their drinks are good quality as well. The place is somewhat small, but has high ceilings so it is comfortable. read more

Best scone that I ever had!! Nice place with nice food!! Friendly staff make your breakfast much more delicious~~ The restaurant was a little difficult to find but once walking into it, you will feel so comfortable because of its atmosphere and food. I ordered the daily soup which was carrot and dill. It tasted fresh and warm. The scone was not too sweet and in a perfect match with cream cheese/blueberry jam. Really GOOD! I tried two scones, the lemon poppy seed and the orange cranberry and had them with the raspberry jam. In terms of taste I found the scones quite bland, however the texture was perfect. Nice and crisp on the outside with soft fluffy inside. The jam however was super flavourful and really delicious and made the scones taste quite a lot better. Not sure it's worth it to pay $2.60 for a scones and then another $1.50 for a small pot of jam though. Service was good. read more
