I'm hard to impress. I grew up eating Page's so admittedly am an ice cream snob. While I still love Page's Dairy, it seems like the rest of the city does. The line is always extremely long and it isn't as close to us now that we've moved. We attempted Page's yesterday, a random Monday evening and the line was no less an hour wait which I just didn't have time for so we left without ice cream. I was talking to someone about it and they asked if I'd ever been the The Scoop. I'd never even heard of it! The stars aligned and we were able to sneak out this afternoon. I'm hard to impress and gosh was I impressed. The place was a fancy upscale version of Page's and just as delicious. The sundae creations were something I'd expect to find in Vegas. Fun, whimsical and delicious. There were so many options that it was hard to choose just 1. While there is some overlap in menu items - a Nancy B cookie sundae, a Blondie sundae, they really set themselves apart with their unique creations. Churros are my favorite food and I haven't been able to find a legit one in years. The deep fried Oreo sundae is brilliant as is the funnel cake. Such unique and fun combinations. The serving size was generous as were the toppings. The employees were kind and patient. The place was inviting and clean... easy to get to with plenty of parking. They also have a drive through which is SO convenient! What a great little secret spot. We found our new go-to.

I almost fell over when I ordered a homemade ice cream sandwich made with Nancy B's cookies and it was $6.15 but it was GINORMOUS!!! I had to take it home and cut it up to share. The picture doesn't do it justice but it is hugeeee. To give you an idea we cut it into fours and all had a decent size piece. Warning they do have an expansive selection with lots of hard ice cream flavors, many specialty sundaes and the normal standbys. It's hard to decide! I personally can't wait to go back and try some of the specialties!

Come get a cold sweet treat for dessert, or choose a baked sundae for a whole day's worth of calories. Their signature flavors tend to include some combination of chocolate-covered pretzels, a caramel stripe, and/or cookie dough or bits. They do sell 1 or 2 scoops in a cup or a cone, as well as classic frozen yogurt flavors, milkshakes, and ice cream sandwiches. Prices are reasonable but cash only; there is an ATM on the side of the building. A good amount of parking and tables with umbrellas up the hill. I'm looking forward to coming back but hope my menu options aren't too limited by the fact that I just want a little ice cream and not a tub.

Great place for ice cream! They are known for their wide variety of sundaes, which range from an elaborate spaghetti and meatball looking dish to classic favorites. I ordered 2 scoops of their homemade ice cream: Mint Avalanche and Munchies. Both flavors were packed with taste and the ice cream was creamy and smooth! The mint was my favorite with crushed oreo pieces and chocolate chips within the smooth mint ice cream. The Munchies flavor was also very good and had vanilla ice cream filled with all your favorite junk food candies: m&ms, chocolate chips, peanuts and caramel. The price came to about $5 for my dish, but it was certainly worth it and they gave you large scoops. Definitely a cute and delicious ice cream option to check out. They even have a drive-thru if you don't have time to eat there.

Hopped off a plane at PIT. Had a hunger pain. My first stop was for something sweet at my favorite neighborhood ice cream shop, the Scoop. Although I didn't grow up enjoying their sweet treats, I definitely have a copious amount of nostalgia when it comes to Scoops. Part of what taps into the nostalgia at Scoops is their decor. I love how the ice cream shop feels super classic. You feel like you're in a 60's movie singing tunes. The location is very easy to get to on a fairly busy road. There's ample parking and even a drive they so you can get you soft serve fix. There's another dairymart in town that gets as much attention as it gets long never ending lines. Nothing against that shop as I also love their ice cream, but Scoops just flat out has better soft serve. It's a thick creamy pour. Sweet without being overly so. Love it's fluffiness. Throw some sprinkles on top for an extra treat! Special shout out to the incredibly friendly worker who described herself as "the older gal on the crew." It made me giggle. The perfect illustration of their amazing customer service.

Very cute ice cream we accidentally stumbled upon! I was in the mood for a soft serve cone with sprinkles and this was where Yelp took me. The shop had a really nice, large patio for you to enjoy your ice cream and a ton of different creations to choose from! Cash only but there is an ATM on site.

So tasty!!!!! Worth every penny. We've never really had to wait in line. Very comparable to Page's. Cash only.

Tried them out twice. Both times ordered milkshakes. More ice than ice cream. Not impressed. Not returning.

No interest in midday drinking, we decided to pop around back into the little casual cafe (the bar area is out front). The tiny space has a handful of booths, a table, and 4 bar stools. It's not much to look at - no decorations, low ceiling tiles, and just super plain. But the place appeared clean, and the staff is so nice and attentive. I'd give them 4 stars for that! The food is a bit better than standard bar food. I ordered a fried chicken salad. The iceberg lettuce (ugh) was accompanied by a handful of cucumber slices, banana pepper rings, red onion, some cheese, and what I think was boneless, sliced chicken fingers. I opted against having fries in my salad. I also picked off the handful of cherry tomatoes. The dressing - balsamic vinaigrette- was good. My husband enjoyed his club sandwich on rye with American cheese. Apologies - forgot to take food pics!

You like traditional goto, must have, sandwich from Pittsburgh? If you do, this place is for you…read more This place was started by Joe Primanti in 1933 to feed shift workers from the local warehouses (coal and iron) and railroads. They are known for big sandwiches which now includes fries and cole slaw. The sandwiches provided value to workers...who were looking for a place to feed themselves to keep their energy up for a long shift. When you sit at the bar and you can only imagine the workers that sat here to feed themselves with what little they had. They found a sandwich between two pieces of soft Italian bread with a good balance of meat, cheese, cole slaw and fries...think energy and value. The history here is real and intense. Would I rate this as a culinary destination? Not particularly but I would say it's a must see to be part of US history as the town righted itself and came to life. The sandwich? I had the pastrami with cole slaw, egg, fries and tomato on Italian bread. Remarkably, the sandwich was light...despite it sounding heavy. The cabbage and tomatoes bring a great balance to the sandwich which makes it messy and remarkably light. Be prepared to get messy..so eat fast! I am probably talking too much about the sandwich...just go try it. The food is probably a 3.5 but it gets the extra .5 for the amazing history there. The service was great...well educated on the product, accommodating in every way. If you are in Pittsburgh, this is a must try.

I had to go across the street to use the restroom because theirs were nasty. It required going down a steep set of stairs, and the women's bathroom floor was wet. There was also a bucket catching brown water dripping from somewhere, which was pretty concerning. The wings and onion rings were just average and didn't really stand out. There are newer locations of this restaurant that I'd recommend instead. Based on my experience, you'll likely have a much better overall visit at one of those locations
