The Scoop is a great way to fill your ice cream itch, especially if you can't find a good local hard ice cream. The menu is pretty extensive, with shakes, sundaes and specialty fried treats complemented by tons of flavor options. I got a standard banana split, and snuck a bite of a few other dishes, including a deep fried oreo sundae and some hard ice cream in a waffle cone. All were very good, though I'd say the soft ice cream of the banana split was a step below the others. When I come back, it'll be hard ice cream or bust - though the ENORMOUS cookie sandwiches (with Nancy B's cookies) may tempt me to try soft one more time. read more

I'm hard to impress. I grew up eating Page's so admittedly am an ice cream snob. While I still love Page's Dairy, it seems like the rest of the city does. The line is always extremely long and it isn't as close to us now that we've moved. We attempted Page's yesterday, a random Monday evening and the line was no less an hour wait which I just didn't have time for so we left without ice cream. I was talking to someone about it and they asked if I'd ever been the The Scoop. I'd never even heard of it! The stars aligned and we were able to sneak out this afternoon. I'm hard to impress and gosh was I impressed. The place was a fancy upscale version of Page's and just as delicious. The sundae creations were something I'd expect to find in Vegas. Fun, whimsical and delicious. There were so many options that it was hard to choose just 1. While there is some overlap in menu items - a Nancy B cookie sundae, a Blondie sundae, they really set themselves apart with their unique creations. Churros are my favorite food and I haven't been able to find a legit one in years. The deep fried Oreo sundae is brilliant as is the funnel cake. Such unique and fun combinations. The serving size was generous as were the toppings. The employees were kind and patient. The place was inviting and clean... easy to get to with plenty of parking. I almost fell over when I ordered a homemade ice cream sandwich made with Nancy B's cookies and it was $6.15 but it was GINORMOUS!!! I had to take it home and cut it up to share. The picture doesn't do it justice but it is hugeeee. To give you an idea we cut it into fours and all had a decent size piece. Warning they do have an expansive selection with lots of hard ice cream flavors, many specialty sundaes and the normal standbys. It's hard to decide! Hopped off a plane at PIT. Had a hunger pain. My first stop was for something sweet at my favorite neighborhood ice cream shop, the Scoop. Although I didn't grow up enjoying their sweet treats, I definitely have a copious amount of nostalgia when it comes to Scoops. Part of what taps into the nostalgia at Scoops is their decor. I love how the ice cream shop feels super classic. You feel like you're in a 60's movie singing tunes. The location is very easy to get to on a fairly busy road. There's ample parking and even a drive they so you can get you soft serve fix. There's another dairymart in town that gets as much attention as it gets long never ending lines. Nothing against that shop as I also love their ice cream, but Scoops just flat out has better soft serve. It's a thick creamy pour. Sweet without being overly so. Love it's fluffiness. Throw some sprinkles on top for an extra treat! Special shout out to the incredibly friendly worker who described herself as "the older gal on the crew." It made me giggle. Wish I could tell you their ice cream is fabulous but I've made three attempts to try it and the shop was closed despite it being within business hours. Tonight was the worst: I pulled into the lot, headlights shining into the store and the kid flipped the open sign OFF even though the posted hours indicated they were open for another 45 minutes. I just moved to the area and am an avid ice cream fan so this is a huge disappointment. I guess I'll just continue making the drive up to Bruster's because I know the store will be open as posted. read more

Was a little weary since I couldn't see the prices easily but at the end of the day they give great servings for the price and their product is good. The service was excellent. Extremely inconsistent operational hours. It is at the mercy of the owner at any whim. It is not kept up to date online to understand these times. Every year it opens later and closes earlier. There is ample parking, a drive through, TONS of unique flavors and sundaes with the cutest names, and a spot with music and benches to enjoy your delicious ice cream. I always get the "Sticks and Stones" hard yogurt which is a chocolate base ice cream with pretzel sticks, chocolate brownie chunks, cookie dough, and caramel I believe. 1 scoop is so big too! I called to see how late they are open and the phone was answered in such a rude tone with a very angry "Hello!" So, so so yummy and so many choices! While they have your standard vanilla and chocolate soft serve they also have a few other choices of the lower fat persuasion. I recently had a cone with sea salt caramel coconut milk. You can go crazy here and get fried oreos on a sundae or a hot apple dumpling sundae but my favorite when I'm throwing all caution to the wind is the Nancy B's ice cream sandwich. First of all, it is the size of your face. Secondly, it is combining the best possible cookie with delicious ice cream. You can't go wrong. This place recently opened, but I have already gone a couple times. Their ice cream cookie sandwiches are huge, made with Nancy B's cookies, and are pretty darn good! I believe it is soft serve ice cream, but it taste better than normal soft serve I think. Not as good as The Creamery at PSU, but pretty good for a local place. Had a peanut butter milk shake last night, which was very delicious as well! This place is a cash only establishment, but they do have an ATM on site (probably would dock a half a star if I could for this). Went through the drive through and the young lady was super nice and offered to get my Icecream 'to go'. My husband ordered the 'sweet revenge' and I ordered a medium 'mudslide'. My medium was the perfect size but my husband was worried that his 'sweet revenge'was too large-- don't worry, he ate it all!
