My friend we were travelling up north with recommended we stop at the Pier cafe for some lunch on our way. I'm so glad we did. It's situated on the waterfront which looks like it would be stunning in good weather, they have plenty of seating out there. The inside seating area is next to huge Windows over looking the water which is beautiful. Inside they also have a little shop selling local crafters wares. Lots of very cute tea cosies! It has a non pretentious, understated, yet quirky style with a coastal twist. I ordered the deluxe hot chocolate since they don't have chai and a Brie, bacon and cranberry panini. I am currently still craving that hot chocolate daaaays later! Deluxe, Divine, Delicious! Yum! The panini was tasty. Nice, not amazing, but quality ingredients and nicely presented. Overall a wonderful surprise after driving through tiny villages and mountains. I definitely recommend paying them a visit!

A very busy and joyful little restaurant with a little shop full of goodies. Our paninis were tasty…read moreand they made nice efforts to put strawberries and blueberries in the salad. They also have gluten free panini bread and a few cakes. All of which was good. The view is splendid and they have a lovely bird feeder always full of birds. We each had a soup and a panini and that was the perfect amount!

What an ignorant and arrogant pig the guy that owns this is. I arrived in a group of five and…read morecommitted the sun of leaving the outside door open to allow the fifth member of our group to come in from the car park. As we walked across the cafe floor, the owner shouted at us (in front of other customers), "WHICH ONE OF YOU IS CALLED JESUS?" sarcastically referring to the door being open. When I explained that there was a fifth person coming in, no apology was made by this idiot. Not content with his initial attempts to alienate his customers I then discovered after we left that he'd asked another member of our group (who went to the till to pay), if "JESUS WAS STILL UPSET?" And people wonder why their businesses don't flourish? I can't say I was surprised to find other reviews on here describing the owner as having an 'attitude'; the fact of the matter is, he does. I suspect that, even if he saw this review, his arrogance would prevent him from taking anything onboard about how to speak to customers so I hope that this post serves a purpose by maybe encouraging people to try elsewhere and give their money to other nearby cafes that are more deserving of their custom.
