We visited this restaurant on our anniversary. I had heard mixed reviews earlier, so I was a bit skeptical going in. The ambience is excellent and has a true fine-dining vibe, which makes it a nice setting for a special occasion. However, the service did not match the expectations. We had to wait for water and menus, and the menu cards we received were torn with some pages missing. Considering the pricing is fine-dining level, the overall service experience didn't feel the same. The food itself was quite tasty, especially the chef-recommended dishes. However, the breads arrived slightly burnt, and we had to wait for a fresh batch while the curries were already served. At a fine-dining restaurant, you expect a bit more supervision before dishes leave the kitchen. We also mentioned during reservation that it was our anniversary, but there was no special acknowledgment or attention, which was a bit disappointing, especially while dining with an infant. Overall, while the ambience and food have potential, the service experience didn't quite justify the fine-dining pricing. Visited this location for celebrating my mom's birthday. Very cool ambiance. Friendly crew. Plenty of parking space. Food was fresh and delicious. They had different varieties of dishes. If you are looking for an authentic fine dining Indian spot then this is it. Great spot for a celebration or date night. The decor and ambiance was nice and warm. The staff were friendly, attentive and had a welcoming environment. The menu is curated by celebrity chef Anal Kotak. We started off with the tandoori chicken momos and the tandoori prawns. Both were seasoned very well, spicy and juicy. It came with a side of chutney that went well together. For our main we got the Murgh Alamgir, which our waiter recommended. This dish was very delicious, filed with flavors and a combination of spices. It came with naan, and we got one butter naan and one garlic onion naan, which we enjoyed. It was hot, and buttery, which is the perfect combination. The only downside was that we came for a birthday, and the birthday dessert wasn't complimentary, it was actually $30, which was a surprise. Such a fun restaurant with delicious fusion food! The atmosphere is lively with a DJ (although it can get a bit loud). We got a bunch of apps and loved them all, the food is presented very uniquely. This is a new upscale Indian fusion restaurant in Vaughan. The place is beautifully decorated and the service was very attentive. They have a very creative menu including one of the largest assortment of appetizers I have seen. Tried the Mango Dahi Puri, Amritsari Chole Tart, Cheese & Corn Samosas, and Paneer Tikka. Each dish had a unique aspect which made it different from other Indian restaurants. My only negative was that the samosas were a little too oily but it did come with several really delicious dips instead of the typical chutneys. The green paneer tikka (couldn't remember the name on the menu) was really delicious also. Having filled up on appetizers, had dal makhani, and the Lucknow paneer bitter masala with garlic naan which were very good. The paneer was a nice change from most restaurants typical paneer makhani. We also had the China Sizzler which was made up of veg Manchurian, fried rice, and noodles. This was very good but with so many creative menu items, I was left kind of wishing we had skipped it and tried more appetizers. For dessert, tried their flambé gulab jamun. The gulab jamun were served on a bed of chocolate brownie crumble with some vanilla ice cream and chocolate drizzle. The combination of the gulab jamun and chocolate crumble was really delicious. Visited the secret kitchen for dinner with our family. The food was delicious and servings were good. A little on the pricey side for Indian food but the ambiance and food made it well worth it. The restaurant was beautiful, felt like we were in a mystical forest. The service was alright. We tried to order a sizzling appetizer which they said they were out of. We then tried to order Budweiser beers which they were also out of. They had a dj and the music was loud, we asked if they could turn it down and they did now. Clean for an Indian restaurant but could be clearer given that it is a higher end restaurant. All food was amazing! read more

It was mothers day so i arranged for me and my family a total of 10 members to go to this restaurant. I had booked 2 weeks in advance as based on the reviews i read it was a very nice place to eat with a nice atmosphere and good service. My experience was anything but pleasant . We arrived at the restaurant around 230 on mothers day Sunday May 12th. As i walked in i was greeted by a person near the front door, and was shown to my table. The decor looked beautiful. The music was loud like at a night club, looked like they had plenty staff for a possible busy mothers day rush. We began by ordering drinks and appetizers. We. Ordered a vef platter and a non-veg platter. The veg platter arrived in a few minutes along with our drinks.. the food looked good..however the wine bottle was left on the table the server did not pour for us and more se they did not bring it on a bucket of ice as rose generally needs to be chilled.as disappointing as that was. I would let that slide...but things continued to get worse half my family does not eat meat..so when the veg platter came they ate as the rest of us waited for the non-veg platter which arrived roughly 35 mins after the veg platter. We instead of enjoying our drinks and food together ended up watching eachother eat . Now this can be a one off but not the case as plenty of staff standing around, there was no serving spoon with the appetizer s and when we asked we had to wait another 10 minutes to get them and there was no knives which also took time for them to get by which time we struggled and ended up using our spoons to cut the meat. Now we ordered our mains we order four vegetarian items and 2 non-vegetarian items. 8 naans a 6 Papad and 2 onion lachha. So once again all the vegetarian items arrived first and all 8 naans and papads. Half my family began to eat as the rest of us once again waited for our non Vegetarian dishes.once again there was no serving spoons and asked and waited untill they got them.so about 40-45 minutes later the two non veg items arrived. By now the half of my family was done eating. The rest of us had to begin and our naans were cold the papad was cold. As we had waited there was not even a apology for the delay . But wait it gets worse, the non-veg items we ordered were butter chicken and the indian sizzler non-veg Had the server told me i was ordering the exact same thing and that the only difference was that the butter chicken was on a small bed of rice and veggies.. i would have ordered something else.. but i ended up with two of the exact same chicken just served diffrently . The service was poor the food as average. The ambience was off due to loud music my bill was well over 700 dollars including a pre determined 18% tip as we were a large group. Afterwards all of us had to apologize to my mom for bringing her to a place that should have given us the best experience on a holiday mother's day. For the pricing everything is overpriced, all food was served slow staff need training, i should not have to ask for refill on my water every 5 minutes...and wait another 5 before someone tops of my glass. Over all no matter how good the food is presented and tastes. With the service being so poor and the loudness of music taking away from the ambience , i will not return to this restaurant and i would bot recommend this restaurant to anybody, i would get better service at McDonald's then i did here, should have gone to tandoori flames buffet i would have paid half the amount and had a better experience. If i could give below 1 star for service i would i always generally leave a review when i attend any restaurant, and usually they are good reviews of there is usually something good to say about The Secret kitchen i dont have anything nice to say at all. But most disappointing was the look on my moms face after such a bad mother's day experience. I am attaching a picture if my receipt . Hello, We celebrated my father in laws birthday here on March 22nd. Our group size was 16 and were seated in the larger "private room". Right from our arrival, we were greeted by 2 servers, the owner and manager. They catered to all of our requests, including music choice. The food was absolutely delicious and made to our taste - spicey. From the vegetarian to the non-veg dishes, everything tasted fresh, perfect amount of spice and cooked to perfection. The display of the table, food, and the champagne cart was classy and tasteful. We will definitely be coming back again - even if it to have a post work drink at the amazing looking bar. read more

If I could give a negative rating I would. from the start till the end this was a horrible experience that I would not wish upon anyone. Despite making a reservation well in advance, our table was not ready at 8.15PM. On hindsight we should have taken this as a trailer of what's to come. we were a group of 9 people and were assigned one host in a room full of almost 50 people. so the service was bound to be bad. Water - the server never mentioned or gave an option for tap water. we landed up paying $80 for 9 water bottles. Drinks - I ordered Old timer (which is essentially a cheap version of old fashioned), the entire show of having flame on the table to burn a dried slice of orange was useless as the taste was horrible, and I should have probably just stuck to water. Also it took forever to get a gingerale. The server was trying to push me to buy Maccallan which is essentially a $400 drink (I would rather buy the bottle from LCBO). Service - there was no order in which the food was brought, plates were not brought in. One dish was brought earlier while we all waited watching each other and in turn the dish was soggy. A dinner which could have been completed in 2 hours, took more than 3 hours due to BAD service. Food - Apps - Khasta Kachori (its only 2 pieces, the server should have recommended that we order few more options so everyone can try it, but he conveniently missed this). this was brought first to the table, and kept getting soggy as nothing else was brought. Paneer Tikka, Chicken seekh kebab, and punjabi Kukkad were good - again should have recommended to us to get more portions for a table of 9. Main course - since one of us was a vegetarian, we ordered hakka noodles and Manchurian for her, which was brought to the table after the apps were done, and the remaining main course was nowhere to be found. after checking with the host we were told, noodles and manchurian are apps, never heard this one before. Chicken Alamgir - we were told this is the elevated version of chicken tikka masala, I would say if this was elevated then I can only imagine the horror that the other dish would be. we complained it was horrible it was supposed to be changed, it never was changed though. Mutton Rogan Josh and prawns curry with garlic naan - good dishes, chicken biryani was ok, could skip it. nothing great about it. we kept waiting for more than 30 minutes for them to bring out the cake we had given them earlier for our friends birthday, and it took them forever to do so. After complaining to the manager, we were given 4 free desserts - sizzling brownie (no sizzle, just a hot plate with a drop of chocolate sauce), Ras malai which was frozen guessing it was the packaged one from brars and gulab jamun with ice cream and crushed brownie - complete mix of all desserts and should be avoided at all times. maybe just stick to gulab jamun and ice cream next time. The cake finally arrived, and all the promises about the fog and show that comes with the burning cracker were just promises, and nothing delivered. We asked for the bill and we were told they cannot divide the bill amongst 9 people, the system won't allow it. For a fine dining restaurant this was unheard of, I have been to several fine dining restaurants and this has never been an issue. Overall this is one place you can skip and avoid at all costs. you can get much tastier and better service at any other Indian restaurant in the city. HORRIBLE OVERALL and TOTAL WASTE.
