Wow, this restaurant may be the very best Indian restaurant outside of India. Probably why they got a Michelin star. The food is innovative, the ambience is out of this world, and the service/staff are really amazing. Each item we tried here was absolutely amazing. The one I liked the most is one of the appetizers.

Michelin Guide restaurant that serves delicious Indian food but a bit hefty on their price tag for their serving size. Servers were very pushy and things that you thought would be complimentary were charged at the end of the meal. Here are the details: When ordering drinks, one of my friends expressed she does not like a certain liquor in one of their cocktails and asked for a similar flavour profile in another cocktail, but our server insisted that it was delicious and you wouldn't be able to taste the liquor. Server insisted that he will change the beverage if my friend did not enjoy it. It was pushy and a bit odd that the server didn't recommend another cocktail instead. In the end, the drink had to be changed since the liquor taste was very prominent. When ordering food, we really expressed that we wanted to try a variety of dishes, and our server once again was very pushy and insisting that we needed 2 of each dish for our party of 5. Even after we told our server again that we wanted to try a variety and just needed a taste of each item, he still pushed for us to order 2 of each dish (which we declined). In our opinion, one of each dish that we got was more than enough for us 5 to share! When one of our friends expressed she does not eat lamb and asked for other suggestions, our server STILL insisted that we order the lamb - and gave no other reccos. Our server gave us a basket of variety of chips and naan with 3 dips that we didn't order. It was placed on our table, but never made clear to us that it was not complimentary. In the end this was charged on our bill. When we were eating our food and our server saw that some of the dishes were too spicy for our palette, he offered to bring us a yogurt to help calm the spice. This again was never made clear to us that it would be charged to the bill. If we have known, we would have kindly declined. In the end when we questioned the items, the server quickly came over and said he would remove the items. It was just an overall very odd experience with the server. Now onto the food though. It was quite delicious and we enjoyed our meal, however not so much our server. Loved that our food got portioned out for us evenly, without us having to serve ourselves - this was a nice touch. Here's what were the standouts: Biryani 5/5 Fish 5/5 - small but enough for all of us to get a taste Butter chicken 5/5 Lamb 4/5 - good but not a must get like our server suggested Rani Kachori - 5/5 - our favourite item of the night! Overall, without a doubt, food here is delicious. Price is steep. Servers are pushy. Items may magically appear on your bill. I would like to come back in the future, but perhaps when the service gets updated a bit! The entire interaction with our server just kind of left a sour taste in our mouth. Although items were taken off our bill once we expressed concerns that we did not order and they did not make it clear to us that it was going to be charged, this was still not a great first impression of the restaurant's service.

If there's one fine dining place in Toronto that knows how to serve great Indian food, it's probably Adrak. Their Raj Kachori is my personal favourite. The ambiance is amazing, and the staff is very helpful! You won't find a table if you walk-in so I'd recommend making reservations in advance

My boyfriend read great reviews about this place, so we made a reservation for dinner on Wednesday via OpenTable. Finally the day came and we were excited to visit this place! As soon as we entered, we were greeted warmly by the staff, who checked us in and took us to our seat. Soon after, a young man came to introduce himself as our waiter and what we would like to drink to start. Then he went to the back, so that we can look at the menu. For the appetizer, we picked Rani Kachori. For the main, we chose Murg Makhani and Khatte Meethe Bainga with two butter naan and Pulao Rice. For drinks, my boyfriend picked Joker and I chose Masala Chai. From start to finish, every item was delicious. As it is a fine dining restaurant, the price was on the higher-end. However, we agreed that the portion size of the mains were in line with the price. The only downside was the portion size of the Pulao Rice, which was very small in comparison to the price. The service was excellent as well- our waiter and other staff members brought our food in a timely manner. Our waiter also checked-in with us throughout our meal to make sure that we had everything that we needed. We were too full by the end, so we did not get a chance to try the desserts. We hope to do so next time! If you are looking to enjoy an authentic Indian food in a quiet environment that makes you feel like royalty, give this place a try! Note: When making a reservation via OpenTable, your credit card information is requred to secure your reservation. Fun Fact: The name of the restaurant (Adrak) means ginger!

We came here for the first time to celebrate my parents wedding anniversary, and I made the mistake of making the reservation for a wrong date! But the manager accommodated us four for the dinner still even though they were getting full and had all the tables reserved. So I appreciated that kind gesture. Plus we were visiting from the US so really wanted to try this restaurant. The ambiance is nice but the place itself is not that big from the inside. There's street parking available, which you have to pay for and also garage parking further down the street. I wish they had valet parking to make it easier. Anyhow we started with their Himalayan drink, which is a twist of Old Fashioned with Bullet Bourbon, oolong tea, French vanilla and some other things. The presentation of that drink is nice. The drink itself tasted more like iced tea to me than actual bourbon but still pretty good. We also tried their Gobi appetizer and some paneer one. See photos below. I love how they actually serve you! Service is excellent. You have someone checking on you from time to time. We enjoyed their chicken Briyani, daal makhani and chicken tikka masala. Both were delicious along with their Garlic naans and rotis. For dessert, they recommended their first option, which was Rasmalai cheesecake with ice cream on the side. It was definitely unique and tasted good. We ended the evening with some paan shots. Then they bring you wet towels at the end to clean your hands. Overall this was an amazing experience. They made the evening memorable for us and thanks for accommodating us. The bill was $550 or so in case you are wondering and see photos of the food below for more!

Butter chicken and prawn curry

We've been to Adrak Yorkville several times now, with different groups of people, and the restaurant has never failed to impress. The beautiful decor, the friendly and attentive service, and the delicious food make for a Michelin-worthy evening. I have a hard time explaining what the shareable "Rani Kachori" is, but all that I can say is that I could eat a whole bowl of just that and be quite happy. Whatever combination they put in there works like magic. The Seekh Kabob coming out on a mini smoker and bursting with flavour is a crowd pleaser (even an anti-lamb guest had to acknowledge that it was really yummy), and the presentation of cooked chunks of chicken being smothered in butter chicken sauce poured from a delicate gravy boat just makes your mouth water. Ordering the kale saag consistently leads to dubious looks around the table, followed by, "Ohhhh!!" reactions of comprehension once the dish is sampled, with its accompanying flavourful roti. The masala chai is a sweet and creamy treat, and while the current dessert list is verboten for those of us with tree nut allergies, the kitchen staff is working to add more options and kindly whipped up a delectable nut-free and saffron-infused kulfi for us, which was off the charts good. Adrak Yorkville is a must-try for anyone who is a fan of Indian food, and easily our favourite Indian restaurant this side of India

Went here for dinner with my wife and some friends. Firstly, the restaurant is beautiful. Secondly, the service is impeccable. The waitress brought the food to our table and served us each an individual portion. Now on to the food. Beautiful flavours! Naan was fresh. Lamb was succulent. Salad was refreshing. Portions were big. Can't say enough good things about this place. I would definitely come back and try all new dishes next time. It's a big menu.

Elevated and semi-expensive Indian food - was the food enjoyable? Yes. Would I come here on my own dime? ... probably not. We came here as part of a team, and all started off with some drinks. Since they don't serve mango lassis, a few teammates and I got a fruity mocktail with passionfruit (or was it lychee?) pineapple, and a slab of dragonfruit on the top. It was so addicting! My team members ordered, so please bear with me for not knowing all the names of the dishes. We started off with some fried pakora, which were pretty good albeit greasy. Then, we got some tandoori prawns (so plump and meaty) and a minced lamb kebab (the gilafi sheekh), which was served with a refreshing yogurt dip. Then came the mains. We had a huge spread, including butter chicken, a lamb curry, an eggplant dish, some stir fried vegetables, lentils, a chicken biryani, pulao rice, and two different naans. My personal favourites were the lamb curry, the vegetables (they had a kick to them!), and although I only had a bite of the lentils (I was stuffed), I was shocked at how flavourful and creamy they were. They then came by with some wet wipes, the ones that rehydrate with a warm water pour. We then wrapped up with dessert. Since they only had two options on the menu available, we got both. They were the rasmalai cheesecake and the chai biscuit. Both had really unique flavours, especially the ice cream (one was cardamom, the other some cinnamon chai). Overall, a good place for Indian, but probably on the pricier end (particularly given the small plates).

From the moment you walk into this cozy spot to the time you leave you are welcomed with the utmost hospitality from the Adrak staff. The lamb kebab is full of flavour, with fantastic presentation. The prawn curry is absolutely delectable, only draw back was that it only came with like 4 prawns -- not enough in my opinion especially for that price tag. One other thing is that the drink I got was very spicy, and wasn't enjoyable, had to send it back twice to cut down on how much spice they put in it.

This was my first visit to Adrak. Hands down one of the best Indian cuisine fine dine experience in the city. It's a busy place so you need prior reservation. One those places where I would love to dress up well :) My most favorite was the mocktail Joker. Nice elegant fruity flavors with a kick of lemon. For starters I had the soya chap which was absolutely well cooked. Main course was Paneer kuchran with garlic naan. Asparagus kofta was a delight for the tastebuds. Amazing service and the server was polite and interactive. He was helping the people next table with the right choices for non Indian guests and did his job quite well. Will surely visit again. They do have cancellation charges so plan your guest list well in advance.

You'll pay a pretty penny for the meal, where an appetizer papad ki tokri, essentially an assortment of papadams and chutneys will cost $16. It's a dish that's sometimes given away freely at other places. At Adrak they provide three different crispy crackers to dip into finely chopped salsa, a spiced beet dip, and a fruity chutney. It's something that arrives quickly to keep diners placated and awaken the taste buds. Unlike my experience at their Richmond Hill counterpart, Adrak Yorkville doesn't shy away from spice. The batter of their onion bhajia ($16) is a cacophony of flavours with different spices coming through as you bite through the crispy onion fritter ending with a heat that lingers on the tongue. The mint chutney doesn't calm down the sting at all but acts as a delicious condiment for other dishes as well. Such as the thecha paneer tikka ($22), an interesting creation where two discs of soft Indian cheese are tossed with spices, roasted, and filled with finely chopped nuts, creating a delicate bite with a bit of texture. While there is a smear of curry and green chili sauce topping the paneer, I found the mint chutney (from the bhadjia) adds a bright refreshing element that makes it even better. For a more traditional take on paneer, the paneer khurchan ($28) keeps the cheese in large chunks so it's soft within the savoury tomato sauce. It's great for tucking into a piece of the garlic naan ($5 a piece; 2 pieces shown) that's so fluffy with lightly blistered crispy edges. Adrak's pork vindaloo ($38) uses a unique preparation, slices of pork tenderloin that's pan fried and drizzled with the slightly vinegary spicy sauce, rather than being braised in the vindaloo. So, while this dish is listed under the "curries" umbrella of the menu, it's not saucy. Consequently, something our waiter pointed out when we tried to order the naan, "But, what are you going to eat this with?" Um... the vindaloo and paneer khurchan, we pointed out. Which is when the final characteristic of the Yorkville handbook came out - a helpful but sometimes snooty feeling air. Apparently, those two dishes would not be enough to warrant ordering naan. He then suggested a full explanation of the menu before we order. Truthfully, I was taken aback from his response, there were already so many titles and descriptions of the menu that surely it should be self explanatory? No, it's not. Yet, with some simple changes, it could work. For example, the "Adrak Signatures" dishes are not the typical chef recommendations, rather just more expensive and interesting takes on their appetizers. My suggestion: just call the section "Adrak Signature Starters" and the confusion is solved. And if the pork vindaloo is not a curry than move it to another section. In the end, this exchange with their staff irked me. Sure, he was probably trying to be helpful and make sure we were aware of Adrak's special take on dishes, but there was almost a condescending tone that came through - let me explain and order for you because you obviously you don't know what you're doing is how I felt the exchange transpired. Taking her advice, we ordered: - Chicken Kaju Ghee Roast Bucket with double Masala for $43 ($39.99 for Biryani and Double masala pay $2.99 extra). - Palnadu Chicken Biryani ( $18.99) Ambience wise, the place is pretty chill with neatly lined tables for family and the huge Biryaniwalla Logo adorning the big wall. There was also a spin the wheel game, which you can play if you place a google review. While we waited for our order, the shop was quite busy with mobile food delivery orders. After about 10 minutes, we got our order and took it home. Chicken Kaju Ghee Roast Bucket: This is possibly their bestselling biryani. And I have to confess, I have tried it before and I absolutely love it. It is a delicious biryani , with nice moist chicken pieces, cashews and which is not too overpowering with spices. We ordered double masala because my better half likes it that way. The quantity for bucket was huge and can easily satify 3-4 people. Chicken Palnadu Biryani: Compared to Kaju Ghee Roast, this one is more tangy and a bit on the spicier side. It is a slight Achari taste and it was surprisingly delicious. Also, you get Salan (spicy-tangy gravy) and Raita (yoghurt mixture) with the biryanis, and they go quite well with the biryani. However, i somehow still felt the biryanis lack that authentic taste of biryani that you get in India and Pakistan. Real authentic biryanis have the inherent smoky flavor which comes from coal which is used to cook biryani and to give Biryani the dum ( pots are sealed and cooked over slow heat with coal - at bottom and at top.) Also missed that Birista that usually accompany Biryani layers. That being said, these are quite good biryanis. To foodies: Possibly the best biryani restaurant is toronto, that gets it as close to the authentic taste. The biryanis are delicious and they have lot of other options including seafood biryani. The quantities are huge and you and your loved ones will truly enjoy To management: Great biryanis. Great service by Ankita. Would love if you guys can sprinkle some birista ( fried onions) at the top layer or provide it on the side. Also it would be great if you can provide some incentive for customers who order directly from store. I knew you once had 10%.off , which when I asked was told it's still on but you need the offer card. I was a bit let down by that because at the end, it's just a formality. Also spin the wheel if you place a google review is a cheap tactic to get reviews. Just do it as a fun activity guys. Creates goodwill. As a brand strategist , I always recommend customer experience over a few dollars Overall this is a great place for biryanis. I definitely recommend it.
