Completely agree with the rude customer service!!! Spoke with a real estate agent today named Carrie... Was interested in looking at a property there and called her to see whether she knew if pollybutylene piping was the piping used throughout the building... These are older condominiums... Actually live there years ago... And this was the piping used in that decade very dangerous no longer legal I recently went through an entire refitting in my current condo... She was extremely sarcastic when I asked her about it and said basically do you think I know all the piping in all the condominiums... Obviously I don't but you certainly need to know if you're representing this condominium... My refit cost me $10,000 and homeowners insurance no longer covers this piping buyer beware! Moved into our condo association back in 2018 since then we've had two category three floods in common areas where they are supposed to at least help. Instead I get rude feedback demeaning attitude and no one wants to accept responsibility they only put the blame on everybody else. This is the second time I am now homeless and my family has nowhere to go because of sewage from our upstairs unit which they refused to even talk to them I had to take care of all of this myself. We pay to 270 a month right now just for them to maybe pick up our trash I had rotting boards all outside my house yet I got a letter for a broom and a bucket. Little did they know I have to use that broom and bucket to do the landscapers job sweep leafs off my patio. Patricia the manager never responds always out of office and avoids everyone if you go in to in person. The select group has made my life miserable each time they come back to my neighborhood. According to neighbors they love going through personal property just to write you a letter and threaten to put a lien on your house. Most of the time they don't even have the right property. They're power-hungry in the wrong spot my neighborhood is falling apart and all they care about is sending letters to tenants telling them they're breaking the simplest of rule( a.k.a. broom and bucket) Even insurance companies cant get in contact with The Select Group. read more

The Select Group "manages" the subdivision where we live. They do a very poor job of property management, but yet expect a raise every year. They're supposed to make sure homeowners adhere to our HOA guidelines and, in some respects, they do. But for the most part they focus and report on "nickle-dime" violations, like trash cans or political signs in the yard, and stay away or totally ignore the bigger issues. Roofs needing cleaned or replaced, street congestion or choke points from people who have too many cars and refuse to park in their own garage or driveway, people putting up improper fences, yards that are not maintained, children's playground equipment that is completely visible from the road, shudders and doors that need to be painted, broken screens on patios, solar panels installed on home roofs and complete visible to all, etc., are just a small sample of what the Select Group should be focused on addressing and corrected, but never do. So, if you are looking for a good property manager, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. read more

This company operates with no ethics. Their website actually says there are two but only one is being used, common sense should dictate the non functioning one should be closed, but no. The current website is expensive looking but practically useless. What this all means is customers need to track their own payments. Customer service is practically non-existent. Much to my dismay, working with the Select Group over the past 3.5 years has been in an incredibly frustrating and negative experience. Delinquency letters are received without including a statement showing the reason for the shortage, and the tone of the letter is vitriolic...as though several attempts have been made to collect, but have been ignored - yet this is not the case. Considering that 3rd party charges are included, as well as the fact that many homeowners rent their property out & may be unaware there is even a problem, it seems incredibly inconsiderate and unprofessional to send a threatening collection notice. I moved in my condo January 1,2022 and noticed a significant water stain on my second floor ceiling so I investigated it and appeared to be a roof leak where water is pouring in my attic every time it leaks for nail holes for the roofing shingles. Association representative Sherry Robinson has assured me the roof leak has been properly taken care of (which was sending someone in to spray paint over the damaged drywall and leave.) me and my neighbors are paying $405 dollars a month to have three blades or grass cut and a pool that's is only open maybe four weekend out of the year depending on if they can get life guards or not. With condo owners paying as much as a car payment a month which is suppose to give us piece of mind about our home dwelling, they can't properly fix roof leaks causing mold to appear and neglect ground erosion. they just close their eyes and collect their paychecks! And somehow now they have made it to where I can't respond to the emails so it looks like I'm not trying to be proactive! they are con artist! read more

I would give them a zero. They are overpriced and have no committee per each neighborhood. $215 a month to basically mow. They don't trim unless you call the hoa, and then if you are lucky enough that they do trim a bush, they leave the trimmings there for you to clean up. This is the second time I've owned a condo that the select group was the property manager, thankfully the first place I lived got rid of the select group and went with another property manager. My current condo at Herons Cove, for two years we paid a special assessment of $100 per month, then after that raised our fees to $405 per month. I'm guessing they can't manage money, expenses or shop for ways to reduce expenses or maybe reduce their management fee for the good of the home owners. I can't even sell the condo in this market because of this ridiculous high fee! read more

I am a condo owner at a property managed by The Select Group. I have numerous complaints about them but I am starting with the most egregious. I reported a roof leak in Sept. 2020 that caused interior damage to my condo. The association is responsible for the roof. It took more than 3 months for the association to fix the roof itself and as of today, April 1, 2021, the interior damage has not even been assessed. I went through the winter with a bad roof. The association manager last stated that I could attend a board meeting to discuss my concerns. Why should I have to attend a board meeting for the association to DO ITS JOB and take care of the things that they are supposed to pay for with the dues that we pay? These people pestered me with nasty letters over a tear in my window screen and for furniture on my neighbors deck but have taken 7 months (and counting) to repair a major roof leak with interior damage. Ridiculous! No one should feel like they want to sell their home to get away from their HOA but that is exactly how I feel about the Select Group. read more

I have had the unfortunate experience to have Select Group as the management company for my condo association for 10 years. I thought management companies were supposed to help owners. This is not the case. They do not respond when you need them & they are quick to send a letter if your window has a small amount of fog in it. Of course, our condo board insists on keeping them because it's run by elderly people who don't want to make a change. Let me start by saying that if I could give no stars I would. my elderly mother lives on the penthouse floor of Old Beach condominiums. The elevator constantly breaks, the building is covered in green and black mold and hasn't been pressured washed or maintained. There is a massive hole in the garage floor that just sits there week after week. But what has really led me to this review is that yesterday the elevator broke AGAIN and many tenants reported this to Select Group in the morning. When my mother called that morning they told her that they didn't know when someone would be there to fix it. Meanwhile my mother who is on a walker and unable to go down steps( especially 5 floors worth) was trapped in her condo. My husband called them at 4:45 and still no one was available to take his call. But he let them know via voice mail the safety risks of having people trapped in their condo and the legal ramifications that come with this. They called and him back promptly and had the elevator fixed that evening. Pathetic that it took call after call to get anywhere. This group has no management skills. read more

I want to first start off by saying my husband and I love our condo and our neighborhood. The accounting team for the Oak Lake Estates is extremely helpful and I want to acknowledge Lily Sujeta. She helped my husband and I with all of our payment questions. She is wonderful! My feedback now is strictly directed at the mangers of the Oak Lake Estates Condominium. I am extremely disappointed in the carelessness and lack of professionalism from Heather Scourfield as well as her assistant property manager. I had reached out to Heather when I first moved in because I had some questions about rules of the community. In the first email, she was very responsive and helped answer my concerns. I brought up a major concern of a pine tree leaning very close to our house. I took pictures for her and was worried if there's ever a big storm, it will fall on my condo. She said she was going to speak with the board president and get back to me. She has continued to ignore me since October of last year. I have sent many follow up emails and she continues to overlook my emails. I even sent one on New Years to see if there was an automated response to see if she still worked for The Select Group. I am just trying to get the status of what's going on and find out if I need to do anything further. She doesn't even have the decency to follow up. Even if the board president has not made a decision, it is still common courtesy to keep people informed. That is her job! I plan to do renovations soon to the backyard and I am nervous that I will not have the support of the management team. If email is hard for them, I can't even begin to imagine how I will ever get my backyard proposal approved. My husband and I are fed up with the attitude your management team carries. Here we are, a year from my last review. (I realize that not everything is the Select Group's responsibility, as we have a Board that makes most of the decisions here. But I would think that the Select Group could do a much better job assisting and monitoring what goes on around the neighborhood) ...The pond pump has been repaired and an updated gate system which required new gate passes on all vehicles has been implemented. However 3 other things need to be addressed. 1. Community painting was accomplished and we kept getting conflicting information as to who was responsible for replacing rotten wood. In several places the deteriorated wood was just painted over. My neighbor has new facia, but they never painted it. I emailed Select Group and I have not heard from them. 2. Roof repairs were accomplished but it appears the contractor missed several areas on other houses. 3. The community has hired a fence company to replace the fencing. Several fences are not level, including mine. There are many complaints from other residents as well. An email was sent and I have not heard from the Select Group. .....Who is monitoring these contractors?! And who holds them accountable? read more

A total of 21 reviews and all 1 star? Well here comes 22. I moved into River Cove Point in August of 2016. The crawlspace had active mold. I made countless efforts to contact The Select Group to resolve the matter with 0 response. I came out of pocket and footed the bill for the necessary repairs so I could stop living in hotels and actually move into the property. Since the condo bylaws clearly state I am responsible for the studs in as well as decks and I had 0 correspondence I went ahead and forwarded them the invoice. I was told I would get a call back but never did. In response to their unprofessionalism I withheld an HOA payment. Then I started hearing from them immediately and they quickly took legal action to file a lien on my property. Mind you I have perfect credit and have never been late on a bill Now it my turn to take legal action as well as everyone in the River Cove Point Community and probably all of the other communities The Select Group Manages. Here is why: Fast forward to todays date and I was supposed to close./sell the property at Cove Point. The buyer has a VA loan and the government likes to call to verify things like if the flood insurance and master insurance policy were up to date had been paid for the entire complex. Well the policy expired and payment was never received from The Select Group yet the residents pay $280+ in HOA fees. There for the government refuses to lend money to my buyer because this corrupt organization doesn't pay their bills leaving all of the residents at Cove Point with this terrible unacceptable risk exposure. I spoke with Medina today and she didn't want to hear or deal with my gripe and quickly transferred me to some other persons voicemail. If anyone chooses to verify this info the none paid policy is with Nationwide and the policy # is 74058765132018. The staff is incapable of rectifying situations and works poorly with homeowners. I have lived in the Pembroke Crossing Condominium unit since 2015 and besides the outdated buildings the management is one of the worst I've ever had the pleasure of being associated with. We have had our car towed on several different occasions with the towing company being at fault and rules changing on a day to day basis with no consistent enforcement. The weirdest issue with living here is the HOA and their hatred for the neighborhood children. There are cameras placed toward bus stops, no playing on the grass signs and a general distain for children here. Every morning I wake up to a neighbor yelling at children at the bus stop and calling them 'ghetto'. Chuck the HOA president is a man who will cut his own nose to spite his face. Instead of using property funds to redo the roofs, which do need work, they are too obsessed with the bus stop kids and plan to build gates and fences. Management won't contact you back and are generally non-helpful. The HOA won't read this but if this review stops one person from living here then it is worth it. read more

The Select Group is the most unprofessional organization ever. There are quick to collect money and always run a deficit. They never do what the board asks and do their own thing. I actually sold my condo to get away from having to deal with these people. No matter how much you increase the dues by, it is never enough. They never take accountability for anything. The ran The Willows and The Chesapeake East Condo communities into the ground. Before buying a condo in a community in which they manage, either fire them or walk away from the deal. I closed on a house that had this company as their association managers. They are quick with communication about any money owed and rules issues, but if you have questions, need repairs to external parts of the house it requires an email to the owners to get any results. Lily is the sole helpful person and the only one I would trust at this company. read more

They have not responded to residence requests in 6 weeks. It's understandable that they may not be able to respond to phone messages right away, but for 6 weeks. In Addition, they have not responded to emails in 6 weeks. Three emails have not been responded to, two in regards to safety issues at the Great Neck Villas Condominiums. We've literally only lived in our house in a neighborhood managed by this company for a year and a half, and are already thinking of selling our house and getting out of here, that is how awful this company is. When we got our yearly fees statement we promptly mailed in a money order for the dues and didn't think anything of it. A few months later we got a notice that they didn't receive any payment and we were past due. I then mailed a check in and again got notice that they did not receive payment!! I spoke to them and asked them to please get to the bottom of where are payments were going!? You can't mail them directly to the Virginia Beach address, they are processed through an Atlanta company, which already is shady in itself. So they assured me they would hold off on any collection activity while they investigated and I went ahead and mailed A THIRD CHECK! Meanwhile a week later I got a collection letter from their attorneys office with an additional 200 dollars in fees on it! Hello!?!? I have paid this now 3 times!!!! It's not my fault the company handling your accounts is not either processing my payments or stealing my money, it is yours! I am working now with other neighbors to find another property management company for this development. I'm over it! read more
