25/12/24 We haven't been to this restaurant for a while, so…read morewe decided to have Korean food and come here on Christmas Day. The food was good, with enough quantity to eat and take home as leftovers. We were a party of nine taking the regular (not BBQ), so they put two tables together for us. Our only complaint about that was that the tables were not the same height. The amenities (restrooms) were not very pleasant, as the trash cans looked as if they have not been emptied in a month (they were overflowing), and there was toiled paper on the floor. In addition, the floor did not look very clean. Food: 4 | Service: 3 | Atmosphere: 2 Recommended dishes: Beef Ribs, Miso Soup Kid-friendliness: There aren't any meals for kids, so you would mostly likely get a couple of dishes and get plates to share.

The side dishes were also quite good! My mandu were slightly burnt/over fried but the delicious and unique filling paired with the good sauce provided made it fine. My only issue is that when I try and return, craving their hearty kimchi stew on a cold day, their hours don't match what's posted online or on the paper outside their restaurant? For example, there's a paper sign on the door that says they take a break from x-3pm , on a day I was reallly looking forward to the comforting stew and warm vibes. I check at 3pm and their OPEN sign is off, alright maybe they need a minute or 2, so I do some rounds and pass by it a few times with it still being closed, I go back home and come back around 4:30 which is well past their reopening time and it's still closed. I gave up cause I was starving and went elsewhere. If this could be updated or made more clear then this review would be much higher. I love the food and it's genuinely authentic Korean food but it's frustrating having plans to go for lunch or even an early dinner and having them squashed by an inconsistent hours schedule.

If you don't manage the heat the egg will burn and the sweet corn will go south on you and I've never had hot kimchi. The meats weren't seasoned but were high quality. The short ribs if you are expecting Galbi they were unseasoned. K-Pop playing in the background was good and the service was absolutely outstanding. Refills or anything you want was instantly there and it seems the whole staff tag teams the restaurant and makes sure everyone is happy. I can't believe I ate it all. Entering the space is like leaving the area completely. The decor intending to give an ancient village vibe is effective. While our waiter was not the best, overhearing other waiters and the warm welcome when we entered let us know that he may have been having an off day. We barbecued only beef and we had a few sides in addition to the banchan: Ginseng rice, Korean rolled omelette, and a kimchi pancake. If ordering items to bbq was not mandatory, I would come for the sides alone. The experience is pricey, but worth the expense. Plan accordingly! We enjoyed our time there and left very full!

It was our first-time trying it because the original restaurant we wanted to go to on Somerset was closed, but we were definitely not let down. They open at 11:30 on the weekend and we were a bit early but the staff was super friendly and accommodating- letting us sit down, browse the menu and even place our order before they "officially" opened. Out of all the dine-in korean restaurants we've tried so far in Ottawa (which I know is quite limited and most aren't authentic- but that's not to say they aren't good): Alirang, Maht, Daldongnae, etc. This is definitely top tier AND we will be coming back. As a small business, they are generous with their refillable complimentary side dishes (which is so yum), the flavour HITS, and the service is so good and welcoming. They kept checking in with us, turned down the volume to the TV that we were sitting under, and kept refilling our tea. inside the restaurant is also quite spacious and has comfortable seating arrangements. The restaurant is clean and tidy, which made the experience even more pleasant. Service was attentive, though with only a few tables it's hard to fully judge. Still, everything we needed was taken care of. The food was fresh, portions were generous, and prices felt fair. I especially appreciated that their pancake wasn't overly oily like you often find elsewhere. Dishes leaned on the milder side which made it easy to enjoy everything. The kimchi was a little salty, but the pickled radish was a nice balance. Big plus: they serve Asahi draft, which you don't see everywhere. One small miss was the sundubu being accidentally left off our order, but no big deal, just an excuse to come back and try it next time along with the Kalbi. Seating was comfortable, and I loved the individual wireless table lamps at each table which added a nice touch. Overall, a great first experience and I would definitely return to explore more of the menu.

We visited this place during lunch as a group of four. The server did not provide the lunch special menu initially, so we had to ask for it. She also rarely checked on our table and did not keep our water refilled, so the service was not exceptional. After we split the bill, the server confronted us about tipping and repeatedly asked why two people did not tip. One person ended up tipping due to the pressure, while the other did not. The server then said, "If you don't tip, I can't serve you next time." even after three of four people at our table tipped. When the person asked if that meant they couldn't come back to the restaurant, she said yes. The suggested tip started at 18% for lunch. If refusing service or banning customers for not tipping is restaurant policy, it should be clearly stated before customers order. The food itself was bland and lacked authentic Korean flavors. Overall, the experience was extremely uncomfortable and disappointing.

I got the Beef Bulgogi Dinner ($22) and the Dakgalbi Dinner ($22). The Beef Bulgogi Dinner came with beef bulgogi, salad, Kimchi, pickled radishes, rice and a canned drink (I got a grapefruit Bubly). The Dakgalbi Dinner came with rice, a salad and a canned drink (I got a strawberry Bubly). I asked for no sesame seeds in the food and this request was gladly accommodated. The Beef Bulgogi was tasty. The meat was lean and not gristley like at some places. There was a tad too much onions in this dish for my liking, but it was still very good and and huge hit with my husband. The Dakgalbi was a bit spicy, nothing crazy though, not even lip tingles, lol, just a bit of a kick. The chicken was dark meat, but not too fatty. It had cabbage, sweet potatoes and rice cakes shaped like tubes. It was delicious. I loved the soft and chewy rice cakes. The salads were mostly shredded cabbage with pickled radishes. The salad dressing, served on the side by default, was a tangy citrus dressing. I really enjoyed it and loved that it came on the side without me having to request it that way. The cabbage was crunchy and fresh. The rice was purple rice and tasted good. The kimchi was mild, crunchy and not too pungent. I liked it. The pickled radishes were good too, not too sour. Service was courteous and friendly. They make the food to order. I'm really hoping they add Japchae to the menu and they are able to make it without sesame seeds, since at most restaurants it's premade and covered in sesame seeds and I can never have it, lol. In's Kitchen is across from the University of Ottawa Henderson Residences and very close to the campus. I'm sure it's popular with the students. The inside of the restaurant nice and it's more spacious than you would expect from looking at it from the outside. There's some outdoor seating as well. Street parking only.

I looked around and I thought you could only get a large order of fried chicken and was about to walk out the door but after asking about it the person working mentioned a lunch special. It's 5 pieces of boneless fried chicken, fries and 1 can of pop for $12.99. They really need a better lunch special but I decided to go with this. 10 minutes later and I had my lunch special and was out the door. I wasn't asked how I wanted the chicken and I did see 3 sauces on the counter. They did toss some seasoning on it before packing but I didn't get a good look at it. I decided to try it as is. I got home and was excited to try this. Chicken pieces weren't small but weren't large either. They seemed a bit bland but the fries were well seasoned and really crispy. The chicken was pretty crispy as well. Overall it was OK, probably one of the better fried chickens in the area. If you have a craving, give this place a try but there's a few places in town I do enjoy more. They did just recently open so they might still be working out the kinks. I think it is a generous amount of chicken for a small order, I think I was served 10 various pieces for $21.99 + tip. I know that it is considered 'pricey' but these aren't small Buffalo chicken wings. They're decent sized drumsticks, actual wings, etc..
