I had actually visited on Good Friday and they were closed. I live in Katy and it was a 30 minute drive. I was upset but kind of my fault because you should always call a new place first before visiting. I pulled up and saw no cars and was surely disappointed. I politely got back in my car and decided I would visit another day. Well the following week I decided to visit because I needed to drop shoes off at the shoe shop. I walked in and felt like I was dreaming. It was such a variety of material it was unreal. I am not a seamstress but I have a creative vein for making a masterpiece. I decided to take my time and walk around and observe, look and allow my creative juices to flow. Then an angel appeared CLAUDIA, she was the sweetest girl ever. She answered all of my questions, offered expertise knowledge and helped me sort through many different options. Of course a creative person never makes choices overnight. So I left the store and told her I would return soon. The following week I returned with more choices and the need to make a final decision. When she seen the masterpiece she was floored. She then proceeded to talk about her mother's 50th birthday. It was funny because I am preparing for my 50th birthday and I was sharing with her that I don't mind sharing information with her as well to make her mother's event a success. What impressed me the most is all of the staff are welcoming to all ages and race along with being bilingual. I am always disgusted when I walk into an establishment and no one speaks ENGLISH which is the first language in HOUSTON. They are all nice and helpful CLAUDIA, stood out to me because she helped me personally. She was absolutely amazing. She gave hands on expertise and was very patient and kind. It was my first time in the store and she made me feel welcome. Her energy and poise were unmatched. I am looking forward to shopping at this establishment again.

Out of sheer frustration, disappointment and disgust, I am updating my review due to recent events…read morethat have transpired. Approximately one month ago, I came to It's a Stitch to purchase a new Bernina sewing machine. I had done extensive research regarding which machines would suit my needs; I had narrowed my choices down to two models. I currently own a Bernina, although it is a basic mechanical machine that I had purchased new about 30 years ago. Even though it continues to run like a charm, I wanted a more extensive and diverse machine available to me; since I have very specific sewing habits, however, their top-of-the-line models were not even being considered. Make no mistakes: Berninas are not cheap and they are (in my eyes) a lifetime investment. I did not take my choices or my purchase lightly and without great thought. When I came, I looked at the two models I considered and practiced a few stitches on the higher-priced one. Decision made! I placed my order, charged it to my credit card (and subsequently paid for it) and was told that my brand new machine would be in the store from the warehouse in about a month. A call this week from Sarah informed me that the model I ordered is no longer available. As my heart sank, I was offered the following to "make things right": 1. Purchase the floor model, which according to Sarah had only been used "slightly" and was in great condition; price would be what I had already paid for the new machine, but I would receive a $50 store credit. I declined that offer. She suggested I call back the following day to see if something better could be worked out. 2. Or, I could purchase a much more expensive machine (double what I had already paid) with features I did not want nor did I need. Also declined. 3. A call back the following day got me an offer for the same floor model at $100 off, but it was revealed that "we can't locate the box for it" and then I recalled that when I had tested this machine, the manual could not be located either (because I had specifically asked to see it and they couldn't find it). This offer was also declined. I opted to return to the store for a full refund. No apologies were given and no farewells offered when I left. I will purchase a different model at an entirely different Bernina dealer. To suggest that a customer spend nearly $2K on a demo machine with no box and most likely no manual and have that be the best offer available when they have already PAID FOR a new machine is downright offensive. This is my final encounter with It's a Stitch. We're done.

I remember this place when it was an actually sewing machine shop and a fabric store. now there's just a bunch of pre-cuts on the wall and it's not a fabric stor. Buy your machine there because the service phenomenal the repair services phenomenal. just go somewhere else for classes and go somewhere else for your fabric it's just not a fabric store anymore. Things change in business , so i am sure there must have been a good reason for the change, it just wasnt a good change for quilters. You will not find a better shop in Houston to buy a Bernina sewing machine, they know their machines and their service department also knows their machines.

When I arrived, I was grateful to see reserved parking spaces right in front. I was not eager to tackle Rice Village parking, so this convenience was a benefit for me. Upon walking in, I asked where I could find some potentially matching fabric and the salesgirl was so helpful! She pointed me in the right direction. Since I was looking for white fabric, she recommended I take the fabric outside in the sun to make sure it matches (can't trust white with the florescent lights!). That greatly helped, as the first fabric I thought would work ended up not matching at all once I took it in the sun. After a few tries, I found a fabric that was perfect! If in need of fabric, I definitely recommend coming to Universal Fabric Center. Lots of options to choose from and great service!

The service to me was great and everyone was nice. I even saw some young women doing a photoshoot inside, with permission of course. I found the perfect ribbon but realized at the register that the price was per yard not per bolt! It was totally worth it because I was satisfied with the look and quality. Yes this place is pricy, but you'll definitely find what you need here.

I finally stopped in the other day and was BLOWN AWAY. While the shop is very small they have wide variety and quite a few pieces of prints and styles of beautiful fabrics. All seem to be sold in the 6 yard length that is traditional of a Sari. The young woman working there was so very nice and answered all my questions. Very nice, worth a stop.

My wife and I came in to patronize the Travelers notebook section and look at a few other items, including fountain, pens, and gel roller pens. When she asked where the Travelers notebook items were, we were dismissively told "they are over there" as the employee pointed to a back wall without looking up. Wewere never asked if we needed further help. The two employees who were in the store were very dry, never offering any assistance and or a smile. When I asked to view the pens in the case, the young lady who showed me barely even attempted to offer me any type of instruction or suggest other items for me to look at. It was almost as if I was bothering her. The store has a lot of great merchandise, but I can get all of those things online and not be treated this way.
