Second time using Shade Store - first time working with Thuy at the Laguna Niguel store. Beyond exceptional has been our experience both with the product and with the customer service, before and after market. I wonder if bad reviews are mixing up companies? Thuy at LN store was such a pleasure to work with. I thought I knew what I wanted to shade our beach condo, so went in and got samples. I changed my mind, however, and went back curious as to what was state-of-the-art in window shades. Thuy took lots of time walking me through different transparencies and materials, and sent me off with more samples. Her guidance, fashion sense, and product knowledge helped me zero in on the winner. Roller shades for our condo with no valences to block the view was the decision and the shades look magnificent. I chose Shade Store for several reasons. 1. The quality is by far better than the less expensive blinds stores. We have used both for different reasons in different houses. I wanted the best quality for this project and we were willing to pay. 2. The roller motors on Shade Store blinds last more than twice as long without a charge than the less expensive models. The rollers that we purchased are over stairs and I need a long lasting charge. 3. After market customer service from established national company Shade Store has been beyond helpful. We moved into a house with Shade Store rollers and their telephone customer service was able to look up the entire order, match the color so we could order an additional shade, and connect us with a technician to help me re-program the remote control. On 20 year old blinds!!! Unbelievable. And free. Customers for life. Thanks Thuy for all your help! We'll be back to buy more soon. The Shade Store does have occasional sales if that's of interest. Disappointing Experience - Poor Communication and Delayed Service We spent $$,$$$ on shades from The Shade Store, trusting that their premium pricing would reflect premium service. Unfortunately, that was not the case. After placing our order, we waited patiently for six weeks for installation. When the installer finally arrived, we were surprised to learn that our shades had not even been delivered to our home, let alone made --something we did not know to expect or were informed of any delays. The installer made a call to clarify the issue, and we were informed that our installation would be pushed back another two weeks once's the shades arrived, making it over eight weeks total from order to completion, if we can't get our shades from another vendor sooner. I contacted our representative, Vicky, who assured me that someone from customer service or management would call back to discuss options. No one did. I called again the next day, spoke with the same representative, and again was told someone would reach out. Once again...no one called. For a company that charges among the highest prices in the industry, The Shade Store's lack of communication, follow-up, and accountability is extremely disappointing. Delays can happen, but when they're combined with silence and broken promises, it's hard to justify the premium. I expected a higher standard of service and professionalism. read more

My first experience with The Shade Store began with Vicky choosing the right blinds for my home office. She made choosing and ordering my blinds very easy. My second experience was the person (I don't remember his name) who measured my windows to make my custom blinds. He measured 3 times to be sure the measurements were correct plus my challenging valance was figured out. My third experience was with Jeff and Logan who did the hard work of removing my old blinds, installing the new blinds and teaching me how to use the motorized blinds. Installing under the valance was not a problem. Jeff and Logan were friendly, helpful and cleaned up after the installation. I would recommend The Shade Store and their staff. read more

We have two large picture windows in our sunroom that give us fabulous views of the ocean and coastline facing southwest. The 90% white solar shades with motors that we had installed have been fantastic in blocking sun glare and heat. Ordering process and installation were problem free. I wanted roller blinds for my four large sliding glass doors in the living room that give a panoramic view of the valley below and the sunsets over the Laguna Hills. The blinds had to be almost floor to ceiling and easy to operate. I also wanted the material to filter light--to keep the living room bright, but provide privacy at night. The Shade Store had a big selection of material and gave me samples to compare against my existing paint and furniture and to test light transmission. No other dealer was able to match the price and quality of the materials. When I made my final choice, they sent the installer to precisely measure the dimensions of the windows and frames. I have just completed having the Shade Store (Laguna Niguel), working with Aliana Lynda Hart create an incredible environment in my living room, office, and dining room. I came into the store and there was an unlimited options to select from. Aliana took me through the various possibilities, looks, and functions to come up with the perfect solution. The shades are expensive, but of the highest quality and as well, the company stands behind the product. I never felt oversold. Lynda was fully engaged in all aspects of the project, figuring out the best way to get from a to z. I now have some lovely motorized shades in my office, living room and dining room. Aliana helped me to select the right amount of block and made sure the valences were perfect. My couches will be safe from sun deterioration and I have perfect privacy in the evening. Horrible blinds. I bought shades for 8 windows and every one has a problem. They have been out to measure 3 times and now want to come out a forth time. Did it say satisfaction guaranteed? I had been shopping around for solar shades and had been to Home Depot, Lowe's, JC Penney, and House of Blinds and wasn't sure that anything I saw would look good in my home. When I looked online, The Shade Store popped up, in the Laguna Design Center, but open to the public. They have a calculator online, so I knew their prices were reasonable. The moment I walked in the store I knew I would find my shades there. It is a beautiful store with glass walls and full-sized displays of all kinds of window treatments. They also have huge flat drawers with 6x6 samples to take home. The selection is overwhelming but Vickie is very knowledgeable and led me in the right direction. I chose the Chilewich bamboo solar shade, a quality shade, made in the USA. I think it also has a lifetime guarantee, but who cares. It's gorgeous and just what I was looking for. read more
