I had started the job myself but got an anchor screw stuck and figured I should have a pro step in so I didn't wreck my new walls. All the supplies were here, placed where they needed to be, holes were measured and marked for custom made rods and drapes. He charges by the hour and moves very, very slow. He didn't have his own step ladder or anchor screws. In the first hour, he managed to put in 3 screws in holes that had already been marked. He claimed he "needed to remeasure" and that's why it took so long, but he used the holes that I had already marked. He also said it was too hard to do with custom cut rods. He also said it wasn't his fault because I had an anchor screw stuck in the wall already, which was the whole reason I hired him. This is what pros do: they come prepared, know the required materials and techniques, and advise the customer on the best way to proceed. I knew we needed to cut it off when he asked me how to use an anchor screw. He didn't know if you needed to pre-drill or not for a very basic and common anchor. I cannot imagine a professional handyman not knowing that. He used a level to stare at the pre-marked holes for what seemed like an eternity, just eating up time. 3 screws = $200. Seems like a nice enough man, but handyman may not be the profession for him, and that's giving him the benefit of the doubt that he wasn't just trying to take advantage of someone he assumed was too naive too know how long the job should take. He became very defensive, making excuses when I said we'd need to end the job at one hour. Im sure judging by other less than 5 star reviews here (that I really wish I'd have taken the time to read) he will post a very defensive response here as well. Please just don't take a job you don't have the required expertise to complete, and I don't want to hear defensive excuses when I'm still out $200 for almost no work completed.

Cellular shades are one thing; installation "made easy" is another thing. Firstly, DIY, really, but…read morefollow the following adjustments to the installation instructions: First, the bracket attachment screws are made for a square end screwdriver, which many DIY folks may not have, although Phillips #2 screwdriver will sort of suffice as long as not much pressure is needed to drive it in. Furthermore, if the bracket needs to be attached for inside mount, the back screw head is sufficiently fat or thick that it did not permit the back of the shade enough room to click up into place. We had to buy the same size Phillips flathead screws. Also, for drilling into wood, a 3/32 drill bit is recommended, but the hole is tiny and the screw needs much more torque to go in, and using a Phillips head screwdriver may chew up the screw head. We found a 7/64 drill bit to be much better. So, even though installation was a sad saga that should have been simpler--and perhaps the idea is to promote the use of one of the shop's handymen--following some of the above tips should allow you to DIY!

These products are the absolute cheapest junk you can buy. It has been 3 years with these and almost none of them made it through a full year. I spent nearly $15K and will have to redo all of the rooms - except one. This is an unbelievable waste of time and money. Do not engage with this store. They never offered to replace my blinds. They keep sending out someone to redo the cords. I hate Shade Store.

The wrong parts were ordered and shipped, so when the installers arrived, they were unable to complete the job because the measurements were incorrect. It has now been three weeks, and we still don't know when our new shades will be shipped because we were told that they had to be "approved." We paid a significant amount of money for these products, and the lack of customer service and follow-up is simply unacceptable. On top of that, we have been trying to get our roman shade repaired -- which was installed only three years ago -- and that has become a separate, equally frustrating issue. Two technicians have now come out; the one who visited today didn't even know what he was supposed to be assessing. The customer service around this matter has also been very poor. I'm not confident that this will be resolved any time soon.
