About as close as I got to eating there!

Stood out side, along with 5 or 6 other people, waiting for them to open for nearly 15 minutes, then just left, obviously don't need or want by business, and I don't need or want their rudeness.

I have been coming here for years since I grew up pretty close by. The hamburgers are the best around. It's such a local dive and I love that. And when they are packed they are packed. Sometimes hard to get a seat. I recommend calling your food in ahead of time and crossing your fingers for a table! But totally worth it. Also the most delicious cherry lemon sundrops!!

Our State magazine featured the Shake Shop on its cover about NC's hole-in-the-wall restaurants. That drew us to this longtime Cherryville drive-in. What did we think? My wife now ranks the Lottaburger among her favorites anywhere. She puts salt on everything and said the Shake Shop lottaburger needed no salt. My regular cheeseburger was cooked perfectly, delicious and not too big or too small. The onion rings had flavor, crunch and no dripping grease! And the handmade cherry lemon Sundrop was a nice addition. Clean inside but little seating; full by 11:30 on a Saturday. Call ahead to be sure hours correct. The Facebook page has different hours. Oh, and bring cash. No cards. We'll visit again!

I love the Lottaburger and they have the best grilled cheese! But the wait is killer. They also have odd lines. But it's worth it.

Signature food: Lotta Burger w/ everything on it and fries. Drink is a Pink Lady. It's a SunDrop soda w/ cherries. Must try!!!

Carry out only sense the Covid nightmare. It's over priced for the cheeseburger and fries joint. Then eat in your car.

Great food and friendly service. I'd give it five stars, but the building itself has a lot of deferred maintenance.

The best cheese burger ever. I'm addicted. I have to have one at least once a week. The grill is the secret to the great flavor.

Great food and very nice people! Very homey and reminds me of past days in my youth. The only thing missing was outside tables/chairs.

This was my first visit, and I can't say enough great things about this place…read more The atmosphere is fantastic, with both indoor and outdoor seating options (we chose to sit inside). The hostess and our waitress were incredibly friendly, and we shared plenty of laughs--she truly made the experience even more enjoyable. Then came the highlight of the meal: the burger. Simply put, it was the best burger I've ever had. Having lived in New York, Florida, and Colorado, I've tried my fair share of burgers, and this one stands above the rest. After my first bite, I turned to my friend and said, "I think I'm in heaven!" It was that good. I rarely eat red meat, but I'm already thinking about when I can go back--maybe even tomorrow. Everything we ordered was excellent--the beer, the salad, the perfectly crispy fries--but the burger was truly exceptional. This is easily a five-star experience.

You could just make a meal of them. If you want knife and fork food there's not a lot of options bit the smothered chicken is pretty good. The burgers and Philly won't disappoint. The fries are really good both regular and sweet potato. The atmosphere is nice with a great looking bar, heated outdoor area in back, plus the gas fire pits which get a good crowd around on a cool night. It's great to have a place like this in Cherryville. I always see someone I know there.

The combination of attentive service, high-quality steaks, and a standout bourbon selection makes it a spot worth seeking out in Valdese.[1][2][3] ## Service and Hospitality Austin provided friendly, knowledgeable service, with spot-on recommendations and consistent follow-up throughout the meal, which really elevated the evening. The staff quickly seated the party of four and acknowledged the celebration for the wife's birthday, helping the night feel special from the start. When one filet needed a bit more sear, the owner personally stepped in, oversaw the re-fire, and had it returned to the table cooked perfectly. That level of ownership and responsiveness showed real commitment to **hospitality**. ## Food and Preparation Entrées arrived beautifully plated and cooked to appropriate temperatures, which is especially important at a butcher-driven concept known for its meats. The corrected filet came back with the ideal sear and doneness, reinforcing confidence in the kitchen's skill.[2][1] Portioning and presentation aligned with expectations for a farm-to-table steakhouse, highlighting the quality of their locally sourced meats.[3][1] ## Bourbon Library The bourbon library is a major highlight, offering an impressive selection of hard-to-find bottles that adds a distinctive draw for whiskey lovers. It pairs perfectly with their meat-focused menu and makes Highlands Butchery feel like a destination, not just a neighborhood spot.[4][1][2] Having such depth behind the bar also supports Austin's recommendations, allowing guests to explore pours they may not encounter elsewhere. ## Atmosphere and Noise The only real drawback of the evening was the room volume, which made conversation a bit challenging at times. Given how popular and lively the space can be, some additional noise baffles or acoustic treatments could help deaden the sound and make the dining room more comfortable without losing the energetic vibe. With that one improvement, this experience would easily move from a 4.5 to a full 5 out of 5, especially given the strength of the service, food, and bourbon program!
