Visited for St Patrick's Day. They handled the crowd very well and with good humor. It's a small pub and most people stayed outside in the parking lot or in back. Nobody got rowdy and the atmosphere was fun. They provided a limited menu of corned beef sandwiches and Reuben sandwiches plus a kid's menu. They had music, including an excellent piper. Shamrock is a soccer-focused pub and is probably Ground Zero for big tournaments. My only suggestion would be to have plastic bags on hand for those of us who did carryout (five sandwiches + chips). The Shamrock is one of Sarasota's hidden gems. They carry an amazing selection of high quality craft beers. The Shamrock Summer BBQ Series is the number one reason that I have to start coming out more frequent this time of year! Every Tuesday night, June through August, The Shamrock is the only place to be. For 15 dollars Chef Jeff Sladky from Mattison's 41 was cooking up Apricot Glazed Grilled Pork Belly with a white bean-chorizo cassoulet, petite herb salad and a bottomless cup of Dunedin's Apricot Wheat Ale. Chef Jeff also brought some homemade sweet and salty ice cream but I was enjoying the beer and good company too much at that point. I had a blast and met some of the real movers and shakers in an atmosphere that made everyone feel at home. There is only one question I left thinking about, whats on the menu next week! read more

I was surprised by how few people celebrate St. Paddy's day in Fl. I Was in town for vacation over St. Patrick's day and needed to find an authentic place to celebrate. We were thrilled to find The Shamrock! it felt like a real Irish Pub. Lots of wood, big party area in back and NO GREEN beer.. (Green beer is disturbing and unnatural) It also cash only, so be prepared. The service was great even on such a busy day. This is my favorite bar, ever. Now that it's non-smoking, I like it even more. The bartenders ar extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. I've never been there and not made new friends! I have to go back a lot more to work my way through the microbrews. Erin go bragh! read more

My husband and I came here to watch a football match, and being from the UK I hoped it would be a little taste of home. The bar was decorated nicely, but the service was appalling. The bar staff looked as though they didn't want to be there, they where pretty rude whilst serving with their attitude, and a lot of the people in the bar where not friendly at all. Instead of this being a good night meeting new people and watching some good soccer, it was a miserable time in an uncomfortable environment that we could not wait to get out of. Hidden find. This is a very cool, local dive bar, and I say dive bar in the best way! I have been here numerous times and never a bad experience, with either the staff/bartenders or the people there. There are usually some regulars which is cool as well. people are very friendly and I always seem to meet new people. No smoking inside, which I'm a fan of, but there is an patio out back for those that do. Went there once when it was packed and there were large photos of various locals, regulars etc. in their birthday suits ( tastefully of course, think George Castanza pose) and the place was packed. They were auctioning off the pictures for a local charity, and everyone in the place was having a great time cheering for those who were willing to do it for charity. My wife and I stopped in on Friday afternoon. We were met by Erica behind the bar. She was knowledgeable about the beers on hand ( and they have a great, ever changing tap selection) as well as by a craft beer distributor, Will. Both of these people were passionate about their beer and didn't hesitate to recommend other bars in Sarasota where you could enjoy beer. Very small place but the people were friendly and these two beer lover's were a joy to be around. Great neighborhood feel and no smoke! Friendly non-redneck crowd. All the young bartenders seem to know all about every beer they sell. Great selection btw, on tap and in bottles. Wasnt too sure the first time i walked up to the door. The Shamrock is by far my favorite bar in Sarasota and possibly my favorite bar anywhere. The bartenders are friendly and the owner Derek is great. There is always a great mix of customers and I have become friends with many people I have met there. The beer selection is great and priced well. The taco and pizza trucks that are there on occasion serve amazing food. It is located close enough to downtown to walk if you wanted to, but far enough away that you never have to worry about getting a parking spot. I take all of my out of town visitors here and they love it as much as I do. read more

Bartender was super cool and engaged in great conversation with us! She really knew a lot about beers and provided phenomenal service. We were recommended to come here by the folks at Mad Crow who said that this was one of the only bars that was good for real "hop heads". They had so many IPAs, great beers on tap, and even a wider/rarer selection of beers in the bottles. If you really like beer, and I am not talking about bud light (although they do carry this), come here and you will not be disappointed. There is a large variety of some of the best beers around, and being from California where good beer is abundant, even we were impressed. HIGHLY recommended! read more

Like this bar coming from NJ. Been there the last 2 years for their St Pat's celebration, it's a good one! This issue I had which dropped them to 3 starts, was playing the jukebox. We would play songs and it seemed if the bartenders didnt like the song, they would use the remote and skip it. I guess they didnt realize or care that people were actually paying for the songs to be played and I was not the only one irritated by this? So, good time but dont waste your time and money playing your songs on the jukebox in this place. read more

This is nice little Irish Pub. It is very small and they serve beer and wine only. No smoking inside, but there is a nice little fenced-in patio out back that accommodates the smoking crowd. The staff are pretty friendly and the clientele seem to be the working type. Prices are decent, but not particularly cheap.
