In downtown Sarasota for a Saturday outing. This place had their doors open and looked inviting. Eddie was our server. He was attentive and prompt. The food was good and what we were hoping for. The burger was a nice size and the tots crunchy. My Chicken Ceasar wrap had tons of meat and lots of flavor. The home made chips were great. The Steak Philly had a good amount of meat but could have used more salt or another flavor- we couldn't figure out what was missing. It was ok. Let's start with the positive. The food was good. We had the blackened fish tacos and the fish dip. The fish dip could have been improved by providing better crackers, not saltines in plastic. But the dip was very good, nice portions and everything tasted fresh. Nice portions of Mahi for the tacos as well. Now the not so positive. The experience could have and should have been much better with so little effort and cost to the business. #1, menus were delaminating and gross. Seriously, if that's the first thing I notice about your restaurant, it's a shame. I never look or normally notice stuff like that but these were so bad, you couldn't help but notice. #2, Hostess literally tossed the silverware packages on to the table. We weren't seated yet, so it wasn't like she tossed them at us, but it seemed so rushed and tacky. #3, It would have been nice to sit at the two table top bar seats to have our lunch but we were informed we'd have to order for ourselves at the bar if we wanted to eat there. It was 1pm on Wednesday with plenty of open tables and the waitstaff were watching videos and laughing on their phone, clearly not too busy. It was a golden opportunity for the waitstaff to say, "Hey, normally that's a bar seat and you have to order yourself, but we'll make sure someone takes care of you there today since we aren't busy". Again, a missed chance to really shine and take care of locals. #4, The view, which should have been the star of the show after the food, was basically umbrella tops and bar railing. Look above the rail through umbrella tops, or under the railing with my chin hovering above the food. #5 MP prices. If you have multiple items listed as "Market Price" on your falling apart menu, you should have a chalk board or something on the table listing those prices. It really feels icky for customers to ask the price on multiple items. Make it easy for us. #6, There were two of us, not a huge crowded table and nobody sitting near us at surrounding tables. Why would the server hand my plate across and in front my husband instead of setting it down in front of me. Again, such a simple thing but it felt tacky and awkward. Would I give it another chance? Probably not by my own choice but if friends wanted to meet there I'd probably give it one more try. The food was good enough. read more

So here's the thing. My wife and I took our four year-old grandson to Evies two Wednesdays ago to eat lunch. Spend some fun time play some games at truly what we always believed was one of the nicest locations in all of sarasota. Not so much this day, lunch was great, drinks are always top-notch at Evie's and they've got one of the best pizzas in sarasota not enough people know about. The trouble began in the game room first there was a family, father mother I assume, and there was 6 to 8 kids under the age of 12 running rough shot over the entire building. They wouldn't leave my grandson alone every time he got on a game they wanted to take it away from him. We're trying to be nice. The parents are doing absolutely nothing. Two of the games he played would not take the correct amount of money ,when we talk to the young lady upfront she came over and fixed it and give us a credit we had put three dollars in and she give us credit for one dollar. OK not a big deal yet so then we got $20 worth of quarters or tokens whatever you wanna call it one of these little hooligans stole a stack of quarters off the table we were at. Then They had a T ball inside, kicking it back-and-forth playing kickball in the room. My wife talked again to the two young ladies behind the ice cream counter. It's a game room. What do you want us to do about it? Really? How's about your job! not 10 minutes later my grandson gets hit in the head with this ball. I'll tell you what the hell I want you to do. I want you to take care of your damn business. If you think it's appropriate to put two teenagers in charge of a section of your restaurant, then you damn sure should make sure they can do the job and be responsible enough and are covering your back and your dollars. If you are coming to drink and watch the game, definitely a great place. Don't order the food...we got the burrito bowl and well as the chili...bland at best. I had to add what felt like a mountain of salt and pepper to get any sort of a "hint" of flavor. I'm very disappointed that a place with such a name and great location in Sarasota has such poor food quality. You all can do better. read more

Love their pizza. We go on Wednesdays because they run a special which is $7 off. Today (after we had ordered and eaten) we were told it only applies to a cheese pizza. We've been going here for 2 years and this is the first time we were denied the discount. I'd love a manager to comment. It will likely determine if we go back. So many choices. First time in Sarasota and the lunch special caught my eye. $5 burger on Thursdays. Sweet! Shared an appetizer with friends, which was chips had queso and that was delicious. The burger special can come with lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, and mayo. I opted for no pickle, onion, or mayo and cheese is $1 extra. You do also get a side! My choice was French fries. Such a good deal and cheeseburgers are always good. I'd definitely come back if I ever found myself in Sarasota again. Our waitress was good. I think she may have misunderstood my friend as he ordered the appetizer and said we would get bigger food later and she didnt come back for awhile. So we thought maybe she was thinking we wanted food way later or were going somewhere else. She wasn't really quick to come back for refills either on water. Evie's is a great spot downtown for a nice lunch with the family, coworkers, friends or solo. The grilled chicken caprese is one delicious sandwich. Usually chicken sandwiches can be dry and boring but this one definitely is not! Juicy grilled chicken, fresh mozzarella, tomato, balsamic dressing & basil makes this sandwich light yet satisfying especially for lunch. The balsamic dressing is absolutely delicious; I would actually like to try it with a hearty salad next time. Sandwiches and burgers come with your choice of a side (French fries, tots (my fav), house made chips, coleslaw or rice). The tots were crisp and hot! Yum! Service was prompt, friendly and helpful. The quesadilla and jalapeño poppers hit the spot when it's Late at night and you need a bite to eat while drinking. Food comes out hot and service is fast, friendly, and efficient. It's bar food, at a bar. It's not going to be some next level, game changing meal. It does the job it's supposed to do -- keep you fed in between all those drinks. Bartender spent her time at the seats of the bar talking to her friend and ignoring customers. Food took too long She said fish was local and fresh.....I have never seen square local fresh fish. Grilled???? Looked and tasted pan fried. No grill marks. And dry. In Sarasota for the long weekend! I came out late for some munchies. This place is the bar food Mecca. They definitely got the fryer on lock. Eves got all your favorite fried foods Wings, poppers, potato skins, fried pickles etc... Eves also has burgers dogs and salads. The menu is actually pretty big. Pros: tons of tv screens, lots of happy hour and drink specials, walking distance if you are downtown, lots of bar seating, and they had the Patriots playing on the main big screen. Great place to watch games, play pool, and even go bowling next door if you want more activity. Great waitstaff and a good place to bring a large group of people as it'll be loud and full of that kind of action Cons: the food is typical bar food, not very good (we had the meat packed pizza - not enough sauce and just no flavor - which is odd given all the meat) and the chili fries were decadent, but again not much of it - skimpy in other words. Anyway, I'll be back to watch games and have some beers. It's fine, but overall 3 stars. If you ever go to Evie's and it is crowded, leave! We went there on Saturday early evening and because there was an FSU game on the place was full. We wanted for a table, let the waitress know when one cleared, asked for menus-10 minutes, we ordered drinks and she brought two waters and said she forgot what we wanted to drink. When she finally brought the diet cokes we ordered an appetizer and two sandwiches. 20 minute later we waved down the waitress to say we would appreciate getting the appetizer first. She said, of course. Then some 30 minutes later the busboy brought out our sandwiches which were cold. By this time we had waited 50 minutes since ordering our food. My wife and I had had enough so I waved to the waitress and told her we never got the appetizer and that the sandwiches were cold- she had no idea- and asked for the check. Totally frustrating and unsatisfactory experience. Bottom line: If Evies is busy when you walk in, leave. I wish I could give half a star. We will try again only if they are not crowded as they are not up to it. read more

After being ignored for twenty minutes by staff we had to ask two separate servers who was waiting our table and both left without an answer.
