Very much an older place with not a lot of upgrades, jacuzzi tub was nice and honestly the only reason the room was worth the price as the beds weren't very comfortable and made noises when you moved. Overall it will keep you dry and warm but so will anywhere else you pay to sleep. Next time I'll pay the little extra to stay in Clayton where there's actual places open and the hotel looked much nicer while not having to trek uphill to get to your room, hoping you don't have to climb stairs once you're there! Pros: hot water (so long as everyone else isn't showing at the same time), jacuzzi tub option, pretty view from courtyard Cons: noisy heater, noisy uncomfortable bed, weird layouts, confusing driveways, not a lot of upgrades, cold breakfast in a depressing little room, laid back customer service means you might be standing at the counter listening to people in a room you can't see talking while you wait to be noticed. The location was very convenient to the town, walkable to all the restaurants and shops. Our room was very comfortable and spacious, and the bed and pillows were SO comfy. We also had a nice view of the water and boats from the room, which was a bonus. However, the balcony hadn't been cleaned off in a while as there were lots of bugs and cobwebs. The hotel also offers Starbucks coffee on each floor every morning! The breakfast on the patio was good, but the service was a little slow. We also enjoyed happy hour on the patio one night though --the crab dip was delicious, and the espresso martini was excellent. A couple of things to know before your stay: there aren't complimentary bottled waters in the room, but the front desk is happy to provide them if you ask. The hotel also doesn't have a late-night market or convenience area for drinks and snacks, which would have been nice. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend The Harbour Hotel for anyone visiting Clayton.

We pulled into the resort, and our intuition told us to turn around right then. Needless to say we should have listened. The entire place was deserted except for the front desk clerk and the maid. We walked into the lobby and it appeared to be redone, so we were thinking maybe it only looks bad on the outside... wrong. We walked through the hallway towards the restaurant in order to go to the bathrooms and it was pitch black - not even a soul. When we checked in we were given these pieces of paper for each day that we were having dinner there with a listing of consisting of only four menu items; chicken breast grilled, chicken breast baked, ham and pineapple, and liver and onions. Honestly, wth wants liver and onions?!? We were originally promised anything from the entire menu. Not to mention, they are only allowing us to pick from the cheapest items on the menu. We were promised a "three course meal" on their website, yet we get there and all of a sudden we have to pay an extra $4.99 per person if we want dessert. Drinks (non-alcohol) are extra as well. We asked the front desk clerk where everyone was, and he claimed they were "out." Yeah, probably out at other hotels! So we were thinking to give them the benefit of the doubt and think maybe the room will be fine. We get checked in and went into the building from the hallway entrance, and as soon as we walk in we are overcome with the smell of grandma's house (no offense grandma), but it was seriously musty and had stale air. We go into our room and it's even worse. All you can smell is whatever they used to spray (to hide odors and stale air). It was making us both nauseous. Again, given the benefit of doubt, we attempted to turn on the ancient air conditioner, but it didn't help it only made things worse. The room is a flashback to the 60s/70s. The walls don't even have walls on them, they are stacked cinderblocks painted a hideous pink color. The bed sheets are dirty, and upon them underneath the comforter is an old time furry blanket (again from the 60s). Everything in the room needed to be modernized, from the floor to ceiling. In the bathroom we were given a small 2 inch, by 2 inch packet of shampoo to share, and one tiny bar of soap. Now, I know I'm close to my husband, but I'm not that close that I have to share a tiny bar of soap with him. There was no coffee maker in the room, again like promised. It was advertised on the website that the hotel has wi-fi. Well, technically they do, but you will only be finding it in the lobby - don't expect to get it in your room. We went to check out of there (within 10 minutes of arriving). If they have to scrap for every nickel and dime from customers they won't be staying in business for long. They may have had their hay day back in the 70s, but I think that ship has sailed long ago. It's time to bulldoze the place and call it quits. If this hotel was $40 a night (meals included), we might have just sucked it up and stayed, but for what we were paying for it was by far not worth it. I would rather be sleeping in a tent, outside on the ground. Do what we did and check into the Marriott at Kingston, ON. There is way more to do there and definitely worth the sights. Not to fail to mention we had a way better selection of decent food and restaurants, and authentic gelato!!
