Very much an older place with not a lot of upgrades, jacuzzi tub was nice and honestly the only reason the room was worth the price as the beds weren't very comfortable and made noises when you moved. Overall it will keep you dry and warm but so will anywhere else you pay to sleep. Next time I'll pay the little extra to stay in Clayton where there's actual places open and the hotel looked much nicer while not having to trek uphill to get to your room, hoping you don't have to climb stairs once you're there! Pros: hot water (so long as everyone else isn't showing at the same time), jacuzzi tub option, pretty view from courtyard Cons: noisy heater, noisy uncomfortable bed, weird layouts, confusing driveways, not a lot of upgrades, cold breakfast in a depressing little room, laid back customer service means you might be standing at the counter listening to people in a room you can't see talking while you wait to be noticed. The decor also needs to be updated, but again this is a decent place if you just need a place to crash on a budget. They didn't seem to have enough outlets, no clock, enough lighting, cable, and to lock the door you have a key. There are two levels to the motel on either side of the parking lot and the office is in the front. the parking lot could actually get quite full if everyone is in so then its hard to menuver with the parking lot being on a slanted ground. great views of the Boldt castle across the water. The pool is decent that is 4 feet with an all around deck and lounge chairs. i didn't get to experience this as it was a little colder weather. there is also a dock for people who may have boats and can pull right up to the motel. I have to say one other thing that may ruin some peoples decision to stay, but this is hit or miss. We know for a fact that my boyfriends watch was stolen. We had locked our door every time we left the room and there was a small window in time that it would have been taken. its very difficult to speculate and say who stole the watch, but we could only guess as it was the only time we allowed our room to be cleaned. We had checked everywhere and everything, talked with the office but of course nothing could be done. This was back in July, still hasn't turned up and no call, but the office manager was nice in taking our information. kinda wish that could've done a little something extra (not sure what). unsure if we would stay here again. i had noticed better motels/hotels, hopefully on a better budget to stay elsewhere.

It's just 1/4 mile from a state park which is on the 1000 Island waterway (with camping, an olympic pool, and a huge marina). 5 minute drive to downtown Alexandria, 10 minute drive the other way to Clayton, which is much more commercial and was totally booked. The room was exceptionally quiet, the motel is about 100 yards off the main drag (RT12). A 1/2 size refrigerator that was QUIET, and the a/c was in good shape, not very distracting. It was 66 that night, we left the windows open to the screens. He sent us up the road for a delicious breakfast. The room was spotless, it has fast WiFi and TV, plus all the accoutrements you would expect. And the bed was comfortable. I fully expect we will come back here next time.
