As locals - hyperlocal, in this case - I'm admittedly grading Sugarcube on a curve. I love having a…read moreshop nearby that offers a nice selection of men's and women's clothing, spanning styles and price points that resonate with both my wife and I. It's a massive store with a lot of merchandise, so you're likely to find something you like if you're in the mood to shop. Even when we haven't wanted to shop, we've found things when just popping in to say hi. You can dress up, or dress down. Shop affordably, or splurge a bit. They've introduced us to brands that we didn't know, and are always refreshing their assortment. As an independent business, they're obviously not getting in a ton of sizes, so as with all boutiques, if you see a piece that you like, you're wise to jump on it at that moment...even if you may pay a premium. A lot of the negative reviews here seems to fall into the buckets of price, assortment, or staff attitude, which may have validity in those instances, but for myself, I've only had great experiences. From the first time I went in when visiting Philly a few years ago to now as a neighborhood resident. The consistent, positive experiences we've had is why we continue to go back and spend the few extra dollars on a piece to support their local business. Plus, the men's assortment usually has things that work with my own style preference (casual, understated, but seeking quality materials and a more tailored fit in the $40-120 range). The women's assortment tends to run a bit higher, but that could just the difference in what my wife and I have shopped there. The staff are always eager to talk to us about their new arrivals, but they haven't been too pushy, thankfully. Regardless, Sugarcube likely has something for just about everyone, and if your experience mirrors ours instead of some of the more negative reviews here, hopefully you'll enjoy shopping there and find that piece you've been searching for! Enjoy!

The owner kept sending me messages on instagram inquiring if I am going to buy the black denim. I stopped responding and he eventually called my place of work at the time and said I tried to steal something but put it back. I gave this business money and he tried to get me fired from my job. Glad this place is closed, good for that guy!

They've also got some pretty cool tops and accessories, the displays are well-done, and the sales clerks are friendly and helpful. The only downside of this place is that designer jeans are very expensive. Sevens, I was told by the sales dude, run from about $140-200 each, and I can imagine that the other brands are similarly priced. Needless to say, I browsed the day I was there and didn't buy anything, but I hope to return someday when I have some cash to buy the perfect pair of jeans. Of course, I might be 40 by then and will be too old to be able to pull those cool jeans off anymore... I have one major gripe: I went in while they were having a sale. Everything was on sale EXCEPT FOR JEANS. Since they really are a jeans store, I think that sucks. I'd be more likely to buy a pair of jeans there if they were on sale because you can find the same designer jeans (although not as many styles) on sale at places like Off Fifth or Last Call Neiman Marcus. And I don't think it would kill Charlie's to knock $20 bucks off their jeans now and then. Otherwise, though, this store is really cool.

A few days later, I received a cancellation notice falsely stating that I had requested to cancel the order -- which I had not. I had to reach out myself to find out what happened, and only then was I informed that the company had decided to cancel my order due to the cost of international shipping -- despite the fact that I had already paid the higher shipping and duties. No one attempted to contact me beforehand or offer any alternative; they simply cancelled the order without discussion. To make things worse, the sale price of the bag is no longer listed, raising serious concerns about the integrity of the cancellation. This was a very disappointing experience, marked by poor communication, no accountability, and a complete lack of customer consideration. I strongly advise against ordering from Totem Brand Co., especially if you're outside the U.S.

Lots of collaboration, artistic and unique. You'll find something here or at least a good gift for love ones. The only down side, it's on the expensive end but what you get is good quality.

The brands they stock are thoughtful and considered. You can browse through a rack of Massachusetts brand Penfield, Brooklyn's The Hill-Side and Copenhagen's fresh menswear line Norse Projects (the only place in Philly that carries this brand). P's & Q's also offers up home goods and skincare from eco-conscious brands like Izola and Baxter. The back of the store showcases beautiful hardcover tomes from Taschen Books and U.S. stationery brand Field Notes. The shop also carries their own line of T shirts with smart and bold graphics created in-house. What I like most about P's & Q's is not their stocklist but their overall vibe. The design of the interior is gorgeous. There is wood everywhere including the floors, shelving units and islands. There is something about wood that is just naturally inviting and warm. The occasional incense stick helps also to relieve the stress of shopping (it's hard for dudes sometimes). The entire staff is also super friendly and helpful, and most of all laid back and unpretentious. There is nothing worse than dropping a few hundred dollars in a shop and leave feeling like they did YOU the favor! P's & Q's showcases their own interests and sense of style as apposed to following the latest trends or letting blog posts from Hypebeast dictate their inventory. They also focus on brands that have eco and socially conscious business practices, this is something that is very important to me. I always read about cool menswear shops in London, New York and LA and think to myself "Why Can't Us?" to quote the famous 2008 Phillies slogan. Finally there is a place right here in Philly that offers smart style in a beautiful storefront that is both welcoming and comfortable to shop in.
