Older mall with a new shipping center attatched. Has a lot of good shops to explore. If you like Target, Ross and TJ Maxx as well as others, you're gonna like shopping here. There's a huge movie theatre as well, so you can catch first run movies while you're out having a good time buying things. read more

The mall was in desperate need of a remodel, so I had high hopes for what could become of it. Sadly, I'm not impressed with it. It's a strip mall, but not nearly as nice as the one in Woodburn. There's very little covering outside, so it sucks when the weather is bad. My husband and I went into Hobby Lobby, and it was pouring rain when we came out. Had to walk toward Kohl's to put something in the car. We both were totally soaked when it was all over. Then we had to go see a movie like that. So we got cold and uncomfortable quickly. I do like some of the new stores. I despise Hobby Lobby for their religious views, but it's a huge store with tons of cheap stuff. I found several Christmas presents, and some great crafting ideas, at low prices. Marshalls is just like Ross, so it's boring to me. There's way bigger and better Cabela's locations as well. The one in Lacey, Washington is my favorite. Some things are still the same. They've kept Oregon Sports and Crafter's Alley there. Neither of which are terribly exciting, but they managed to survive. This surprises me being they are local/small businesses. The theater and Hometown Buffet are still there. I don't frequent the mall often. I honestly run to Hobby Lobby for yarn, or Kohl's for clearance/coupon usage. Or to use a couple of the 47 movie passes my husband and I have accumulated. It's not a place I would recommend if the weather is bad. It would likely be better on a sunny day. read more

Walked into The Shoppes at Gateway at Christmastime, expecting holiday cheer and festive shoppers. But this place is a mausoleum - nobody there, so many shops closed, the restrooms closed, dim lighting, not even Christmas Muzak! It's one of the most depressing places I've ever been, and I can't see any reason ever to go back. read more

This was a decent stop on my travel up to Portland a few weeks back.. The first thing that stood out was the Cabela's, of which I mainly saw from the freeway and pulled over to check out. I had some time to kill so I figured I'd walk thru and kill some time. Wandering over the rest of the mall, it was pretty apparent how much traffic this place gets... pretty much.. uhh... not much at all. Eh.. after wandering a little bit more I stumbled upon some comic book merchandise and some Doctor Who items in a store's window... Curious enough, I walked inside and the first thing that caught my eye was Jayne's hat from the TV series Firefly... umm.. JACKPOT. As I continued browsing thru this little store, there was a plethora of Doctor Who items that I had only seen in photos from the internet, but never in person. Getting to see them in person is definitely a tremendous difference and I was, needless to say, completely geeking out. Other than that particular store.. there's not really much else to do around the mall except the Hometown Buffet, and perhaps the Target. I suppose the movie theatre gets a bit of traffic too. If I travel up north again to Portland.. I'll probably stop by again just for more Doctor Who stuff. read more

Everyone keeps saying Ghetto GHETTO Ghetto about this place. And they are right. It's bad! Some guy asked me the other day if it was snowing outside... it took me 30min to figure out he was trying to sell me coke. Then why you ask am I giving the GWM 3 stars??? I can say that I do like only paying a 2 bucks for a movie on the weekends (as a poor college student it's nice not breaking the bank at the movies). Also there's this little store by both more theaters called "More Of Everything" (it's a Nascar pub) that sells beer. (Yea, that's how ghetto this mall is.) But it's great cause you can go in buy a $2.50 bottle of IPA slam it and make your way into the moves with a little buzz. Plus I like to people watch. And it's always fun to watch the people at GWM. read more

While yes it looks amazing, and Gateway mall desperately needed a makeover I am rather disappointed in some of the stores they brought in. When I first heard rumor of the make over I thought it was going to be like the outlets up in Woodburn. We already had a store like Marshall's, and Ulta. The shopping in Eugene/ Springfield I feel could use some help and we need better store selections. Some people have to make the drive to Portland if they want cute things. I was also sad to see how the customers treat the newly renovated parking lot. There was garbage and dirty diapers all over the place last Sunday! Definitely Springfield! You would have thought they would have kept it up since it is new now! Just made me sick inside to see this, how people can do this. All of this being said I do like Marshall's but my point being we already have Ross's, and TJ Maxx. And I don't mind Ulta besides the snobby employee's, but the same thing. We already had places like this at VRC with less snobby employees. I just hope they bring better stores here. read more

Zero is the best way to describer this so called "mall". 75% of the business that are OPEN, are crap stores, Candy Tyme's candy are stale. No one must buy anything at this mall. Most the business spaces are empty. The mall has Two Movie Theaters, the only reason any one comes to this mall is for the movies and or Target. No Foot Locker or any shoe store. read more

In a spectacular example of "if it ain't broke, go ahead & fuck it up anyway", the remodel of Springtucky's answer to VRC just plain sucks. First of all, however: I get it. The mall, as it formerly was, seemed to be going the way of the dinosaur... I well remember the 90's when the food court was booming, Tilt was the biggest/hottest arcade in maybe half the state, and there were *two* theaters running simultaneously. Not bad for an otherwise frequently trashy Mecca for teenage cigarette addictions in bloom (and big hair, a sad fad that lingered for far too long in this corner of the country). But the recent overhaul - I will not refer to it as an "improvement" - BLOWS. 1) The cheap theater is gone 2) The entire food court is gone... what kind of mall does that...? 3) Most of the businesses have vanished as well 4) And the most counterintuitive stupidity of all: entirely eliminating the interior of the mall in favor of only storefronts, forcing shoppers to go outside at every step (not that it rains or gets cold in Oregon or anything) It's f*cking idiotic. Visitors must now crowd onto a sidewalk from which they can't even necessarily see what shops are in front of them... what, do they expect people to venture 50 feet into the parking lot (again, in *all* weather) just to see what else is in the mall? It's a "strategy" that would only make sense in a universe where shoppers go to malls to visit only *one* store at a time. Ridiculous. Oh, but the mall has a fancy new name! The "Shoppes"! Oh, baby. Wow, what happened to this place? Was it always like this? Or maybe I just grew up. See, when I was younger (much younger) I used to come here all the time with my grandma and I thought this place was just the most happening place EVER. There was a Dollar Store, and a toy store and all sorts of other things that held a lot of fascination for a little kid with a handful of dollars. And as I got a little older I'd come here for the $1.50 movies, and I got my ears pierced for the first time at that Claire's that's still there. But then I moved away and grew up and haven't been here in close to 15 years now. So when I was in town over the weekend I decided to stop by for old time's sake. I really wish I hadn't, it was like a little piece of my childhood broke. The place is practically empty now, dark, dingy, more then a little creepy. I stuck my head in a few stores, but nothing that exciting. The Target was not horrible....but the rest of it? Wow. GamesStop is now accepting Ipods, nano, Itablet as trade ins for store credit, towards the purchess of a new or use game, or console or what ever you want to get in the store.....But don't go to the Gateway store 'cause I was told that the item in question needs to be in mint condition. which means that it there are any scratches on the item no matter how small then they won't take the item. But the next day I went over to the Gamestop Store at Valler River Center and I had no problem what so ever with the trade in. totally hassle free. so if anybody wants to trade in their nano, ipad or such then go over to Valley River Center for a hassle free trade in process. read more

Gateway Mall is the ghetto representative of its cross-town more sophisticated brother (Valley River Center). Nonetheless, few brand name stores will be found here, and its the hangout of a lot of teenage dropouts around the exits. Still, the Gateway Cinemark theatres in the back and front still keep this as a convenient option for students who live nearby. I find the Cinemark 12 (front) is probably one of the cheapest theatres I've ever visited. Trashy it can be at times, Gateway Mall is still an area that many of Springfield's finest visit often. read more

It's not really a fun place to go and shop like it was when it was a "Mall"! A bit hard to find a restroom and when you do, you discover it only allows one person at a time so there was a line at both the men's and women's room! Everyone there was just shaking their heads and talking about the way the place USED to be! The old movie theater is gone where you could see movies at cheaper rates and the food court is gone so you have to eat at a place across the parking lot at which point you don't really want to walk back to the shops. The security walks around like a SWAT team and being a decorated, disabled vet I really just wanted to tell them how ridiculous their whole attitude seemed in general I used to like the place but it wasn't much of an enjoyable shopping experience for myself and my friends this last time we went. It was great when you could walk around inside out of the weather, but now, they really did ruin the "shopping experience" one would go there for. I doubt we'll go back there ever again read more

The only restaurants in this place are HomeTown Buffet and a mexican place that i often forget the name of. Everywhere else there is to eat is outside the mall (Buffalo Wild Wings, Carl's Jr., Applebee's and the Original Roadhouse grill) I'm disappointed that the entrance to Target has been closed off. This place is small but has all the typical stores that a lot of malls have. I'ts currently being renovated and will probably look a lot better once finished. Terrible place to shop. Used to go here for Cabela's. Traveling through on the way hunting and wanting to shop at Cabela's but security wouldn't allow us to park in the lot until the store opened. No overnight camping. No weapons. Threats to have Springfield police tow our vehicle. Thank God we can spend our $2000 at Sportsmans warehouse. Whenever you have a mall whose biggest attraction is Target, you have a problem. Gateway mall is one of the most ghetto malls I've ever been to. It's got a couple of movie theaters that are good if you want to watch a movie. That's about all it's got going for it. Everything else is a bunch of cheap kiosks and shops filled with random things not even worth checking out. The NASCAR store here was pretty badass, the Kohl's convenient, otherwise it was a horrible reminder of pre-makeover Mall 205.

I knew this place was bad! The Yelp reviews prove it too! Aside from the Target and the Hometown Buffet here and well, maybe Kohl's, there's nothing here! A nice deserted "mall" interior with a couple scattered people here and there. But two stars for the Target and Hometown Buffet. You can never go wrong with these two in tow. read more

Not much here except for a movie theater, Hometown Buffet, Kohls, Sears, and a Ross. Target is on the opposite end and you can't get to it through the mall. The mall is being remodeled, so hopefully when they are done there will be alot more going on. read more

Your site map needs some work. I looked for Radio Shack and "Zone A" covers a lot of ground. I want the shortest route and you need to include store markings so I can park at the closest entrance to the store I'm needing. I'm unable to walk long distances. read more

Our local Cinemark hasn't yet invested in 3D equipment so we drove up from Ashland to see "Journey To The Center of the Earth", the first all-digital live-action 3D movie. The 3D effects were great, just like the 1950s except a lot clearer. But man, people are so rude in Springfield! The couple next to me never shut up throughout the entire movie; they had some inane and often profane comment to make about every scene, like they were at home alone watching TV. A teenage girl sitting behind my wife kicked her seat through most of the flick, ignoring my wife's requests that she stop. You bet I asked the manager for some free passes; well actually I asked for a refund but got the passes. The theatre manager was really nice; probably most Springfielders are. Well some, anyway. We ate lunch at the mall's food court. Sbarro's is a chain restaurant usually so good that it was a big success in New York City where folks know good Italian food. But this Sbarro's was the absolute worst; the lasagna was so overcooked it had the consistancy of Campbell's soup but was completely inedible. Some of the stores in the mall were half empty. Very sad mall, when I lived here 5 years ago it was doing fairly well. The area down near Sears was never full nor heavily trafficked but now I would say there is maybe 1 store for every 4 empty spots. It was sad to see my old favorite hangout/shopping center wither away to almost nothing. read more
