It pains me to write this review because I like this place and I avoid giving bad reviews to my local places. But this is over due. I bought a simple cod entree tonight, to go, started eating when I left and when I broke the fish open to cool, they're was no fish! What little there was, was fried into oblivion! It was grease and batter. The last 3 times I got the shrimp plate they're were shrimp that were obviously too old to sell. I love me some shrimp dock, I'm a regular here. Almost always get the grilled blackened baby shrimp. The quality of the meal is always solid. They recently switched the fries. To be honest I'm not a fan of the new fries, I wish they would change them again. They're fine they're just not my favorite. They're big and thick cut fries and I prefer skinny thin fries. There's some sort of batter on them that I don't really care for either. The only other time I order something differently is on the first Friday of the month when they have lobster and they can make you a lobster roll. I had it the last time and it was very good except the lobster tasted a little bit fishy. That's the first time I've ever experienced that. I'm not sure what that means for lobster but just wanted to note it. read more

I was in the city (Maryville) and craving some seafood. Yelp had this place in the top 20 places to dine. When you arrive don't worry that this place is between two different automotive places. Don't let that spook you. Once you walk inside it's spacious and inviting. The menu is on the chalkboard behind the counter. I had the large shrimp platter with two sides. Had the jambalaya, wasn't great. But the potato salad was delicious. I suggest take the corn on the cob many of the patrons inside had that as their side so it looks like it's popular. It's a no frills set up and they have steady business. Wife went with her go-to of fish (tasty cod) and chips, while I mentioned my fried shrimp; can always tell when the seafood is fresh. Each combo plate was $15 and came with a choice of two sides, which were ok. Also had a $5 starter of boudin balls -very good. Service was peppy and helpful. Hubby and I Stopped in for lunch on this cold and dreary day and was immediately greeted by a smiling young lady behind the register who was very kind, patient and caring. She offered their specials of the day along with a variety of beverages to choose from. After placing our order, we found a perfect table for two to enjoy our meals. The place was clean and had adequate seating for its customers. There were several persons dining in when we arrived. We ordered the Shrimp Po' Boy and the fried shrimp plate, both came with two sides. Within 10mins our meals was prepared and brought to our table. It was served hot and looked quite tasty. The roll the sandwich was served on was soft, fluffy and overflowing with shrimp. The size of the shrimp were large and fried perfectly. Moments later, the young lady checked on us to make sure everything was to our liking. Indeed it was. After finishing our meal, we toured their seafood counter looking over their seafood choices for future buys and quickly discovered their prices were out of reach for our pocketbooks! This is the only place in Blount county where you can get good quality, fresh fish and seafood with lots of choices It is not cheap however Prior to the pandemic they had specials where you could get fresh fish and two sides for $10 that no longer exists. Your choices are endless. I could have the shrimp prepared one of several ways. There are numerous sides. Once I selected broccoli, I had more choices on the seasoning. I also had a beer (bottled only). Our meals were cooked fresh and promptly delivered by the kitchen staff. My shrimp were lightly breaded and cooked just right. I cannot say enough amazing things about this place! My family is from the gulf in AL, but we are living land locked here in TN. We crave high quality sea food. Tonight we had a shrimp boil and added crawfish to bring some beach vibes. The Shrimp Dock provides everything you need for the boil at home. All you have to do is tell them how many need to be fed. I was home on the coast last week eating crawfish and let me just tell you, these were better. They were so fresh and large. The corn, potatoes, and sausage were added bonus to the perfect shrimp. I dont know that i have ever had corn so soft and sweet. I cannot stress to anyone enough how simple they made it for us to bring a little gulf coast to our back yard. Fresh seafood market and restaurant in one. Best prepared seafood I've had before the Rocky Top Salmon was out of sight! And you can by seafood spices there as well. My biggest complaint are the hours open. They close at 5:30 but they do have two more locations in the Knoxville area. The jambalaya was extremely spicy - a challenge to the tastebuds. I love a bit of spiciness but this was too much! And we were supposed to have two po' boys with scallops, one with tartar sauce only. Got one, cocktail sauce & tartar. The other just had the scallops, no sandwich. The woman who took the order seemed to have trouble hearing, so maybe that was the problem. She was nice, though. I grew up along the Texas gulf coast, having fresh (never frozen) seafood almost every day, or at least several times per week. Oysters, shrimp and fish were always available. I'm talking about real shrimp, not that crap that is frozen, stuffed in 55 gallon drums and ship to the US and resold as shrimp. As I travel around the country as I do for a living, I do search out seafood markets and restaurants for the best seafood around. My first question is usually: Where is your shrimp from? In most cases, it's easy to figure out because they don't advertise US or Gulf of Mexico shrimp. If they tell you it's from the gulf, ask which gulf? Gulf or Mexico or the gulf of Tonkin (Vietnam). If they carried the real thing, they would be proud of it and advertise it like The Shrimp Dock does. Gulf of Mexico, shrimp or shrimp from the Mexican coastal on the Pacific is always better than imported "junk shrimp" as I call it. The Shrimp Dock Farragut is definitely one of my favorites in the country now. I visited there earlier in the week with my colleagues and had the fried shrimp and oysters with a side crabcake. All were outstanding and of course the housemaid cocktail sauce and tartar sauce were excellent as well. I'm taking home some boiling spice that is prepared in house. I would encourage anyone to make the drive even if it's out of the way like we did so that you will know what real shrimp tastes like. read more

I suggest you skip this location and head to the one in Farragut. Big difference in experiences. When you walk in, there is an overwhelming smell of "fish gone bad." Not very appetizing. They were out of oysters, which is okay; that happens. I ordered the fried scallop plate with fries and coleslaw. We were 2 minutes (literally) from home, and even in that short time, the coleslaw had a puddle of liquid and the fries were cold and soggy. The scallops, for some reason, were sitting on a bed of lettuce, which made them soggy as well. Every time I would try to eat one, the breading would fall off. Later that night, I had some stomach distress, which made me wonder about my scallops. I was really wanting oysters, so we went to the Farragut location the next day and had a completely different experience. read more
