    Hot chicken
    Jon L.

No, you aren't dreaming. Jackie's Dream does have great fried chicken! I wasn't impressed with any of the sides -Mac and cheese, Cole slaw, and potato salad were all fine - but the real star is the chicken. I ordered the hot chicken and I enjoyed the heat but could do without it. The hot sauce made what otherwise was a great crust a bit soggy. Some great pieces of fried chicken. As my dad said, "they have more meat on one wing than KFC has on an entire breast!". Mic drop.

Yelp let me down! Lol, sad face. Or, maybe I let myself down. I let the stars fool me. Didn't read the reviews until we had already ordered and unfortunately, I agree with the reviews that were underwhelmed. We walked in to friendly and inviting service. They were extremely packed, but we got seated immediately. We ordered fried green tomatoes, 2 fried cat dinners with mac n cheese, sides of fried chicken. greens, yams, fried potatoes and the hush puppies..Took the food about 20 mins. The fried green tomatoes were coated too heavy and burned. They fried them wayyyy too well done. Hard as a brick! The catfish filets weren't fried hard enough and weren't seasoned. The chicken was bland. I had to dump salt n pepper on it. The greens were sugary and gross. Yams not sweet enough. Fried potatoes were bomb! Hush puppies were dry. All of the food was fresh and hot though. Our server was pleasant too. Unfortunately, I wouldn't return. They don't believe in seasoning. I can't get jiggy with that. Lmao... atleast I tried!

If you want a clean diner atmosphere serving stick-to-your-ribs Southern cooking', with friendly service and reasonable prices, Jackie's is the place to go. If you've never been, it may take you several passes before trusting the GPS and pulling into the parking lot. Seriously there is no sign and yet they still draw a crowd. Yup, it's that good. There were four of us who stopped by for lunch after church. Our server, Armeka, explained the specials, took our orders and took care of us well. My wife had the fried chicken, one of our guests had the meat loaf and the other guest and I had the special of the day: Turkey dinner with all the fixin's. There was not a single complaint. It was just solid down-home cooking. The menu has everything from catfish to burgers, fried green tomatoes, collard greens, corn bread and tons of other great dishes from the South. This is a Black owned business preparing trusted Southern recipes handed down through the family from one mama to the next. Mmmmmmm Mmmmmm Good! Try it; your tummy will thank you.

This place is spot on for home cookin!! Had the fried chicken and catfish both delicious and the sides just as good. The ladies that work there are super friendly and helpful. I just wish closer so I could go more often but when in Knoxville, I will be back.!!

I think I've found the best fried chicken ever. Hands down, best seasoned, juicy chicken, perfectly cooked fried chicken. The Knox hot sauce with the perfectly fried chicken, chef's kiss. The service was also excellent and inside is nothing fancy. Just your typical dinner/dive/hole in the wall establishment where the soul food speaks for itself. I will admit, the sides are meh. The fried okra had the nice breading and seasoning but the mashed potatoes, coleslaw and Mac n cheese were average. However I'd come back solely for the fried chicken alone so they still get 5 stars. They're only open 11-5 but they're definitely worth making time for.

The waitress Shae was an angel who escorted us to the gates of heaven. I am not being dramatic when I say this food had me seeing God. The shrimp, fried chicken, and all of the sides were top notch. I am actively scheming ways to return as many times as possible while we are in Knoxville.

The food was awesome! The entree was ample in size but the sides were very small. The service was good. Disappointed in the sides.

Portions are large, prices are very affordable, fried chicken and fried fish are awesome. Just really enjoy everything I've gotten there.

Food to salty, no one in kitchen wearing gloves or hair nets. It appeared dirty and not up dated. Drinks served from kool aid pitchers.

We dined on a Sunday afternoon and had the place to ourselves. Service was excellent and fast with many folks checking on us throughout our meal. The menu has sandwiches, fried chicken, chicken fingers, ribs and more! It's definitely more focused on chicken. We ordered the fried chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries, grilled chicken sandwich with avocado, 3-piece chicken tenders and kids chicken and fries. Food arrived very quickly and was extremely hot and fresh! Chicken tenders were fresh and thin - a perfect combination. Fries and sweet potatoes were crunchy on the outside and soft inside. We also had the greens and grits, which my husband raved about. A great southern fried restaurant was big portions and delicious food.

I guess the bartender just was having a rough night even though they weren't busy. The chicken was excellent though and had a great crust!

We came on a very busy Saturday night (weekend of Dogwood Festival, theatre night, and prom night)…read more Thankful to have a reservation, we were promptly seated while others with no reservation were being told three hour wait times. I loved the vibe of Tupelo, the hanging lush green plants on the side of the bustling kitchen, the cheerful staff and the lively music. Lizette was our server and she was just a darling. It was our first time here, and she was so helpful with her all of her recommendations. One of Lizette's favorites was the "Peach, don't kill my vibe" sangria. Which I just loved. I nice mix of peach and pineapple in a sangria. For our mains, we had the grilled harvest chicken and the chicken tenders. Both mains came with two sides. With my grilled harvest chicken, I got the mashed potatoes and the braised bacon green beans. The green beans were to die for, even my hubby was saying he should've ordered that as his side. The harvest chicken I loved--especially the sautéed spinach, red peppers and tomatoes on top. But if you can't handle spicy, this dish does have some heat to it. And we ended my birthday celebration with the heavenly banana pudding. It was heavenly in every way. Made in house, and so delicious that even my hubby ate it and he never cares for this dessert. If I could've licked that little bowl, I would've. We already cannot wait to come back and try some of the brunch items on their menu. We loved everything about Tupelo and hats off to Lizette for making our night even more special!!

Bacon was crispy and sausage was cooked very well. The coffee was above average. The pancakes were a bit gritty and tasted like they could've been mixed better. The eggs were lacking a bit of seasoning and the potatoes, although mostly good, were also inconsistently seasoned. Some had no seasoning whatsoever and others had so much they were almost inedible. Not too poorly priced. There's enough food in the samplers to split between two people, but you may have more of a morning appetite than me.

To start with the positives: the restaurant was clean, the lighting was low and inviting, and the overall vibe was surprisingly nice for a hotel restaurant in a college town. The bartender was also pleasant, which honestly helped save the experience a bit. That said, service got off to a strange start. I sat at the bar for about 10 minutes before anyone realized I was trying to order, which was odd considering there were only about 2 or 3 other occupied tables. Now for the food and this is where things really went downhill. I ordered the Market Square Mac & Cheese, which was $22, plus $6 to add chicken. So we're talking $28 for chicken mac and cheese, which is wild no matter how good it is. At that price, expectations are naturally high. Unfortunately, the dish didn't come close to justifying the cost. It took about 15 minutes from ordering to hitting the table, which would've been fine if the food looked promising, but first impressions were rough. The added chicken looked frozen, the mac had no color, and the whole plate was visually underwhelming. Taste-wise, it was even more disappointing. The mac and cheese had no flavor, no seasoning, and nothing about it that explained the $22 base price. It was also a pretty small portion, basically a single layer of noodles so not only was the quality lacking, the value was too. The chicken somehow made it worse. It tasted like something straight out of a freezer bag, honestly giving Captain D's popcorn shrimp flavor more than anything fresh or house-made. I also had the house Old Fashioned. It was... fine. Drinkable, but forgettable. Nothing special. But for $18.64 they should be ashamed. Overall, this felt like a place charging upscale prices for a very average hotel-lobby dining experience. I really wanted to give it 2.5 stars, mostly because the bartender was nice, but since that's not an option, 2 stars it is.
