I was a complete failure in my first 2 attempts to get certified and totally panic stricken to remove my mask underwater, but I wanted to try once again to surprise my son who got certified at 10 years old with Don and was graduating from college in June. I so wanted to go on a mother son scuba trip with him as a graduation gift. Don took me on and couldn't have been more patient and kind. I am sure I was the hardest student he had ever had, but he never showed it. He only showed me kindness, patience and understanding. I just wanted to take a minute to share the overwhelmingly positive experience I had with the ski and scuba connection! I was in need of new diving gear. I was tired of renting. After watching people clean their regulators in the same water as their wetsuits, I had enough. I knew their were many online retailers but you loose that personal touch when you shop online. You also lose the opportunity to try on gear and ask as many questions as you want to someone with experience. I am so glad I walked through the doors of Ski and Scuba Connection. Jody welcomed me with open arms and helped me through each step. I arrived close to closing time but Jody said she would stay as long as we needed. We took our time and tried a few combinations of BCDs. I really liked the custom fit of their Zeagle BCDs. I would normally purchase a size large but with Zeagle, the components are interchangeable. After we found the right BCD, we moved onto the First and Second Stage regulators. They have a variety of brands and options in stock. I asked a lot of questions and appreciated all the guidance I received. If you are looking for a local scuba diving shop, or considering trying the sport of scuba diving, do yourself a favor and stop by the Ski and Scuba Connection. They offer a program called "Get Wet" where you can jump in a pool and breathe underwater for the first time! Their knowledge and experience is second to none. I consider myself a beginner in all of this and I was treated very rudely by the clerk as a result. I asked for a product and got back a sarcastic, snarky remark. I left the store without the product and with the hopes that the clerk was simply having a bad day. I cannot speak for their dive programs, but I know that I'll be taking my business elsewhere and would encourage others to do the same until customers can be treated with respect, regardless of skill level. I specifically went here because I thought a small, local shop would be able to help someone who wants to get started in scuba, but I thought wrong. read more

My boyfriend and I did our dive training with Don at the Greenwich YMCA this summer. After only a few accelerated weeks we passed our exams and pool training and were ready for our first trip this fall to Key West also with Don. It was a great experience overall and for someone completely unfamiliar with SCUBA, fairly easy to understand. VERY ATTENTIVE AND PROFESSIONAL OPERATION. Our 13 year old daughter needed to get ready to go to Grand Cayman to SCUBA dive - we only had 2 weeks to get her ready for the Open Water part of her certification. Don helped us accomplish this goal with ease! He gave her private lessons at the YMCA Greenwich pool. He guided us to sign up for PADI's Elearning on-line program to get all the classroom work done in a condensed and timely fashion. Our daughter found Don to be very patient and a very good teacher! She flew down to Grand Cayman and completed her Open Water dives with ease and was deemed to be very well prepared! IT WAS A HUGE SUCCESS AND PLEASURE ! Thanks to Ski and Scuba Connection in Greenwich Ct, my family and I enjoyed the trip of a lifetime in the Galapagos in March 2014. Store manager Jody could not have been nicer or more knowledgeable. She took oodles of time fitting me, my husband and our daughter with snorkel masks that fit our faces perfectly. This was critical in making our snorkeling as outstanding as it was. The masks fit perfectly which is key in keeping out the water, and allowed even "timid" me in the water me to relax and enjoy the experience. I would highly recommend getting fitted for a mask as it really makes all the difference in your ability to stay in the water comfortably. And I would definitely take the time to head over to Ski and Scuba Connection if you are in the market for any diving or snorkeling related items. They really take time with you and because they dives themselves, they want YOU to develop the love of the sea that they have. They really help you get there. They were the best! read more
