Not too many options in the five boroughs, but these guys really helped out. Very friendly service, they make sure you practiced a little before you go into the water with their own private pool and they double check to make sure your gear is all set. I dove at the Hampton Springs spot and it was really fun. Though the visibility is a little low underwater, it is a great place to practice and you can still see some stuff below the surface.
