We tried a 7 day pass a few weeks ago. The rain this week finally sealed our decision to join. Currently, there are four indoor courts. Online reservations. Open play opportunities, 7-10am, 5-10pm. There's seating area near check-in counter. Great place to get a few games in.

So wonderful to have 9 new lighted pickleball courts! 3 grouped courts for each level: Novice…read more(Courts 1-3), Intermediate (Courts 4-6, which are up on higher ground than the novice courts), and Advanced (Courts 7-9, which are literally on the highest level ground). Blue courts with gray kitchens (nonvolley zones). Covered spectator seating areas are on both ends of each group of 3 courts. Courts hours are 7 am to 10 pm daily. Doubles play is encouraged during busy hours. Only one bench in each spectator seating area, so there are a lot of us intermediate players standing and waiting to rotate in. People were complaining about mosquitoes during the evening drop-in session. Paddle racks inside the spectator seating area help organize turn taking within a group of players. Paddle racks outside the court area are supposed to be for different groups of 4 players to use a court, but not sure how easily utilized and noticeable those will be given most people are inside the court area. Go inside to chat with people in the spectator seating area. This park does have the following: - Restrooms - Outdoor patio seating area - Water fountains - Big parking lot I recommend reading the Pickleball Rules sign: 1. No kids under age 12 without an adult. 2. No music that can be heard by others. 3. Personal bags and chairs should be in the spectator seating areas or outside the courts. 4. No animals. 5. No smoking. 6. No food, gum, alcohol, or beverages other than water. 7. No bikes, skateboards, scooters, skates, toys, or other wheeled devices on the courts. 8. A permit from the City of Roseville is required for private league, tournament play, coaching, or private lessons. My major complaint is that the fence dividers between the courts do not extend to the perimeter court fencing. The balls keep rolling through the gaps onto the next court, which is particularly annoying when you're in the middle court with 4 such gaps. I've been placing my bag in one corner to cover one gap. I beg Parks & Rec to think of a fix. I talked to one foodie friend who happens to work for Parks & Rec. Apparently, the community saw the courts were nearly done and pushed to have them open ASAP. He told me improvements should be coming given the early opening. Courts opened at the end of January 2024. The Courts of Gibson Park also has plans to open tennis courts and basketball courts. You can see the blueprints on their website. https://www.roseville.ca.us/cms/One.aspx?portalId=7964922&pageId=11074176 For information on drop-in open play, sign up for a free account on Playtimescheduler.com. These courts are on the corner of Roseville Parkway and Gibson Drive. They are located near Eureka and Lazy Dog restaurants and the Westfield Galleria mall. It's a bit tricky and sudden to turn left into the driveway with a median, so I have been making a U-Turn. I assume a left turn lane and parking lot lighting will eventually be added.

This location has about 9 courts. This was my first time here and first time playing pickleball…read more Had no clue there was rules when using the court and how there is basically a queue when waiting for a court. Definitely be mindful of that. I had no clue and I happen to be with a group of 6 people and we just kept playing on the same court. Oooops. But Luckily there was a kind person who informed us of rules and etiquette. And yes I know there are rules posted right on the gates but completely overlooked it on accident. The courts open at 7am. But when I arrived at 7:20, all the courts were taken. Luckily the party I was with arrived at 7am and was able to snag a court. So definitely get there early or be prepared to wait. There is plenty of parking. Working toilets, real restrooms, not portable toilets. Thank goodness!

As I workout I see the workers wiping down machines and checking for trash around the gym. I also love how they offer towels to members here. The front desk is also great at remembering members names and greeting them. They are always so welcoming and are very nice. The main inconvenience I have had here is they take a long time to fix broken machines.. way longer than other gyms I have been too. I see there's a lot of reviews saying the same thing so hopefully Laguna Creek Sports Club can work on that! The location of this gym is also nice because parking is never a problem. At other gyms I have been to, parking would be a pain sometimes because the gym would be in a shopping plaza.. which limited the parking for gym members. Laguna Creek Sports club is tucked away in a neighborhood and has plenty of parking, even when they have their big tennis events.

I'm very disappointed with how this club treats its swim team members…read more Although we pay both membership fees and swim team fees, swimmers are not allowed to use club towels, spa facilities, or the adult locker room, even when children are accompanied by adults and under supervision. Meanwhile, these amenities are available to other members. This creates a clear sense of inconsistent and unfair treatment toward a specific group of paying members. What is particularly frustrating is that these rules and differences in treatment were not clearly explained at the time of joining or during the sign-up process. Members are not made aware in advance that swimmers may be treated differently or have more restricted access compared to other members. There have also been repeated instances where a female parent has entered the boys' locker room many many times, which raises additional concerns about how locker room access rules are being enforced and managed. I have raised these issues with management, but they have not been addressed in a transparent or satisfactory way. If you are considering joining with children in the swim team, I would strongly recommend asking very specific questions about facility access and how policies are applied before committing.

I wasn't getting to the kitchen fast enough after my drives, and they were too inconsistent. He got me more balanced and moving forward quicker, and he used a game that helped track the results of my drives, which showed i was probably being too aggressive. I started hitting higher percentage shots, and paid off a few days later with better results! He also analyzed my grip and taught me techniques for how to use it in a couple different ways that really worked for that style. I have an Eastern grip and it works for the scorpion. He did a couple different drills to help me learn and get comfortable with those shots, and I can't tell you how good it felt to smoke a couple scorpions in our mock game, I am definitely going to use that shot in the wild. Bryan is a real student of the game, and I could see how he designed his lesson with a progression in mind, to teach the core part of each skill, then work it into more game-like situations. Really helpful, you can tell the guy is a former teacher. Anyway, good luck on your pickleball journey. I've always been self-taught in sports, but it's smart to take a few lessons and learn the right technique and mindset for the game!

She also used their racket demo program, which was great. They took the time to understand her game and helped us choose equipment that fit her skill level and our budget, which we really appreciated. We also had a racket restrung and the turnaround was quick and easy. Another nice bonus is that there are plenty of tennis courts nearby, so you can immediately try everything out. It is refreshing to find a shop that offers this level of personal attention and real value.

I actually think I know why the sport is blowing up as it is in the 2020s. It's kinda a condensed version of tennis but with much different rules and scoring. But since the court isn't as big, it is much easier to learn it even get good at it. So it is much friendlier to the common person, you don't have to be super athletic or talented. Just a desire to learn and get involved in some light cardio. Seniors, women, men, teens all can play together and excel equally. I found this spot actually by chance. I bought a used pickleball paddle from a dude on Facebook Marketplace. We agreed to meet here for the transaction. In order for me to try the paddle we hit the ball to each other for a few minutes, so I could get a feel for the item on sale. I liked it and bought it. But while here at Southgate Park, I absorbed the surroundings. They have 6 pickleball courts enclosed in one area (my main draw). A basketball court, lots of grassy areas with picnic benches and a playground. There are a few nearby schools in this residential area in Hayward, so in my visits midafternoons, there are always a lot of activity going on. Kids playing, people walking their dogs, people relaxing on the benches, just an overall chill community vibe. To this I gotta give Southgate Park and Hayward props.

Lifetime Folsom is not a gym... it's a full-blown civilization…read more Met a friend here for a workout, and since she's not a member, we had to do the whole guest pass process first. You know... the "tap here, sign here, acknowledge that squats may humble you today" routine. But I've got to give credit where it's due -- the front desk made it ridiculously easy. They were handling a phone call and getting my friend squared away at the same time, and somehow still made it all look smooth. No chaos, no confusion, no "uhhh let me get my manager." Just straight-up professionalism. The second we walked in, she looked around and said, "Is this a city or a gym?" I said, "Honestly... both." Because Lifetime Folsom is not for the weak or the directionally challenged. This place has everything. Pool, spa, cafe, workout floors, recovery zones, pickleball, tennis, locker rooms that feel fancier than some apartments... at one point I'm pretty sure if you turn the wrong corner you accidentally enroll in a wellness retreat. And my favorite part? The confidence people have before a workout. She came out of the locker room with that movie trailer energy like, "Alright, let's do this." Looking at me like, "Bring it." And I did. I coached her through the workout, and for the first 20 minutes she was hanging in there strong. Then somewhere around that 1 hour and 30 minute mark, the spirit left the body. By the end, the look had changed from "I got this" to "I would like to formally unsubscribe." And honestly? Respect. Because the workout was solid. We laughed the whole time, had great conversation, and got after it. That's what I love about Lifetime -- whether you're going hard or just trying to survive the stair climber without seeing your ancestors, it somehow still feels fun. After we wrapped up, we grabbed our stuff and headed to the cafe because recovery was no longer optional. She needed a pick-me-up, and honestly, probably a new set of legs. We grabbed shakes, sat down, and started coming back to life. Then out of nowhere she goes, "Ummm... tacos?" And I looked at her like she had just spoken the Lord's language and said, "Yes." Then she hits me with, "I got the spot. Follow me." Now THAT is elite leadership. So basically this place gave us: a killer workout, laughs, smoothies, and the launching point for Taco Tuesday. What more do you want from a gym? A zip code? Actually... Lifetime might already have one. In all, Lifetime Folsom continues to prove it's way more than just a gym. It's an experience. It's a fitness amusement park. It's where confidence goes to get tested and where post-workout taco plans are born. And honestly... that's beautiful.
