We had them cater our rehearsal dinner at an AirBNB in Folly Beach. They were professional, friendly, and the food was great. Driving down from Ohio we would have had to rent tables, chairs, and setup. They made the whole process seamless and we can't recommend them enough!

This is their set-up! Complete with crackers, cocktail sauce and hot sauce!

Superb! Incredible experience! The Andrew's did a fabulous job with our family outdoor Christmas oyster roast! Oysters were yummy and steamed perfectly! They were kind and professional too. Wil oils not only recommend them but we will be hiring them again for every family get together!

Best decision I made during our stay. Andrew P. and Andrew K. were AWESOME to work with and showed good ole southern hospitality! The food was delicious. I highly recommend the Smoking Pot. You won't regret it.

Happened to come across The Smoking Pot while researching food delivery on Kiawah Island. Andrew was very friendly and we couldn't have planned a better meal for our friends' post-wedding celebration! He brought all food and necessary equipment, cooked a huge meal while my friends and I hung out at the beach, and even set up a large communal table with chairs for us to eat. He even brought REAL dinner/silverware which was a nice suprise. The shrimp boil thing is such a great idea, but even better when someone else is doing all the hard work for you! Thanks again Andrew for such a great experience on Kiawah Island!!!

We paid $600 for 5 lbs of shrimp... got about 5 shrimp per person. Not worth it. Can do better at a grocery story or local market.

After speaking to a few different caterers on the phone, Salthouse was the obvious choice because we felt like they were really invested from the beginning, we weren't just another number to them. They asked personal, in-depth questions that made us feel confident that they were the people for the job. We wanted the food at our wedding to reflect Charleston's cuisine since we had a lot of out of town guests, and several guests said it was the best fried chicken and shrimp and grits they ever had. For cocktail hour, we had a beautiful Southern antipasto spread with biscuits, pimento cheese, and all the fixings. We were blown away during the tasting and they made everything so easy. They even coordinated the rentals for our linens through Snyder, which was a huge help. They were super professional and we had a perfect wedding day thanks to them. Highly recommend them for any event!

Frank and I are grateful to have had Chef Chris cater our wedding reception in September of 2018…read more Since we live in Virginia and were unable to fly down to Charleston for tastings, we reached out to Chef Chris based on his online reviews. Thank goodness for the reviews! They were on point. Chef Chris was extremely professional and his food was amazing. Not only did Chef Chris provide the catering, but he also was the point person for my table, chairs, and linen rental and the bar service. Having Chef Chris as the point person was a life saver, giving me a single point of contact for multiple moving parts! Our wedding reception was held at out of town and very casual yacht club. It was a bit of a schlep from Charleston (about a 40 minute drive) and didn't have a freezer. Chef Chris brought *everything* he needed, including an ingenious way to keep ice cream without a freezer on site (not sure how he did it, but I assume I would have been impressed). His staff was terrific and multiple guests said the bar service staff was also wonderful. The food was perfect! We had the low-country boil and it was AMAZING! The shrimp were HUGE and the corn was crisp, potatoes were perfect, and the sausage was bursting. We also had pulled pork on soft buns, as well as salad and green beans. No wedding cake - we went with apple cobbler. All my guests commented on the food, during and after the wedding reception. Serving large groups is always a challenge, but Chef Chris made it seamless and so flavorful! Frank and I strongly recommend booking Chef Chris! He is wonderful to work with and delivers amazing food and service. Good luck!

Nothing bad, but nothing that stood out either. For example, when my mother-in-law asked if they had Riesling, she responded, "No, our wine is very limited, which makes my job easier." It came off a little odd, but not a huge deal. The food and drinks were very good overall. One issue we had was with the tuna nachos. The menu says "blackened ahi tuna," so we expected it to be seared/rare, which is pretty standard. However, it came out fully cooked. When we mentioned it, the server said it's always prepared that way and not sushi-grade, so they don't serve it rare. That's totally fine--but the menu should definitely be clearer, because it was not what we expected. To her credit, she did offer to comp it if we didn't eat it, but we still ate it--it just wasn't what we had in mind. We also ordered lobster tails--five of us got the same entrée but with different sides. She seemed a bit scattered handling that, but everything did come out correctly, and again, the food itself was very good. The biggest issue came at the end. We asked about a military discount after the bill came out, so the check was adjusted. My uncle had already written in a tip on the original total. After the adjustment, the tip was changed, but it still came out to around 15%, which we felt was fair based on the service. After we left, our server actually chased us down the block asking what she did wrong and why we changed the tip. That was very uncomfortable and honestly unprofessional. It came across as if she thought she wasn't tipped at all, which wasn't the case. Because of that experience, we're adjusting our rating from what would have been 4 stars down to 3. Good food, nice atmosphere--but that final interaction left a bad impression.

All I can say about Island Lyfe Chefs is WOW…read more I will openly admit, I am a bit of a food snob. (This is not to say I cannot be thrilled with a sandwich or a taco -- but whatever the food my chef is making, I expect excellence.) But I can be a bit hard to please. Island Lyfe Chefs made it look easy... Dish after dish, the skill level of Chef Tamla shines. At times, a you will think the food is too beautiful to eat. Yeah. That lasts right up until you taste it!! Healthy, light, delicious, decadent... all of the above. No joke -- you will start to think about the next event you can book with them, before you are halfway done with your second course. Chef Tamla's skills would make her a welcome addition to any great food town -- New York, San Fran, Napa... or exactly where she is. Lucky Charleston!

For a seafood boil that cost each guest $195 in total (cost plus mandatory gratuity), we each received half of a very salty snow crab and a few shrimp each in addition to tasteless boiled potatoes, sliced sausage, and no more than 8 ears of corn sliced in half. Plus one dish of butter to pass around our table of 10 women. Two guests chose a chicken dish rather than seafood. What they were served was the same sides as described above, and one basic boneless chicken breast. The appetizers were unremarkable but nothing to really complain about. There was not any pancetta in the pancetta Mac and cheese that we agreed to as a side dish. It was fairly bland and certainly could have used it. There was no salted caramel as advertised with the "adult" ice cream sandwiches that contained just vanilla store bought ice cream. And no imagination in the world could describe the grainy chocolate water dribbled on the dish as chocolate ganache. The cookies themselves were hard, tasteless, and several were burnt on the bottom. What we did receive was a meager amount of mediocre food that did not even live up to their description. It is really the unprofessionalism that got me to write this review. In advance of the dinner, Tamla repeatedly told us gratuity was not included in the bill and gave us a helpful chart with the amounts for a 20, 25 and 30% tip requesting cash, venmo or other digital payment. Less than an hour after she left, Tamla sent an exceptionally rude message stating that we "did not even come close" to a 20% tip with what she was given. Unfortunately we had already sent her well over a 20% gratuity via Zelle, Venmo, and cash in person. It was already sitting in her venmo account. Apparently she did not check before confronting us via text message. I have been in the restaurant business for twenty years. This was an embarrassment to the industry.
