Drawn by many recommendations and reviews, during our stay a the Tide in Folly beach, we decided to try Rita's for a breakfast and after looking at the menu very likely also to a nice birthday dinner for my wife. Well- with the above average pricing, I expect above average food. Simple. What we got was between borderline disgusting and the wish to just go in the kitchen and make it myself. My wife had the pancakes and I had the breakfast with potatoes 2 sunny side up eggs, 2 sausages and bacon. I mean- how do you think a sunny side up swimming in egg white on top is good? If they think that's how a sunny side up egg needs to look like- well- they might consider asking people next time- I make sunny side up eggs very often and there are tricks not to burn it and still have all of the egg white getting solid- If the cook doesn't know, feel free to contact me. I didn't say nothing because it took already almost 30 minutes for our 2 simple breakfasts to get to our table. The bacon was ok- and the potatoes also ok- I'm not saying good- I'm saying OK. The sausages super greasy. also- the salt in the salt dispenser was wet. I had to open the bottom to get salt out. Let's not forget this piece of rock supposedly a biscuit. It was burned and hard and Idk if it was just a left over from the day before or if the cook didn't know when to take it out of the oven. It was not edible. My wife's pancakes.. I don't know- they were dry, tasted like grease (Idk who makes pancakes in grease and not butter) and had a very weird color, what was even worse with the dark lighting (not an issue, it just increased the visual impression of the pancakes). My wife asked and they said- oh- we put some cinnamon in the doe. Well- Not saying my wife is allergic- but a warning would had been good- and maybe a choice, as it's not everyone's favorite to get pancakes with cinnamon in them which do not even taste remotely like cinnamon- I tried. And then charging us over $4,00 for sweet tea??? come on. I get that for soda- and for the beach- location- but come on... So overall- I will not say the food was super bad- it was on the verge where I'd say- if there would be a waffle house or a Cracker Barrel beside Rita's, go there. You get slightly better food quality for a 1/3rd of the price. Needless to say- we didn't eat there for my wife's birthday dinner. Over all- we paid a whooping $50.00 for 2 little below average breakfasts. So if people giving more than 2 starts for this restaurant- I wonder how bad of food they are actually used to. Conclusion: Absolutely not worth it. read more

Came in for an early dinner after a beach day and the food was great! The soup was delish and the salad was huge. My step mom did not like her salmon with her salad and it did look a bit dry. The drinks were yummy too! The queso was AMAZING! Overall, Rita's has a really nice atmosphere--we enjoyed the vibe and the setting. It's a great place to sit, relax, and enjoy a meal. Our server was very average. Nothing bad, but nothing that stood out either. For example, when my mother-in-law asked if they had Riesling, she responded, "No, our wine is very limited, which makes my job easier." It came off a little odd, but not a huge deal. The food and drinks were very good overall. One issue we had was with the tuna nachos. The menu says "blackened ahi tuna," so we expected it to be seared/rare, which is pretty standard. However, it came out fully cooked. When we mentioned it, the server said it's always prepared that way and not sushi-grade, so they don't serve it rare. That's totally fine--but the menu should definitely be clearer, because it was not what we expected. To her credit, she did offer to comp it if we didn't eat it, but we still ate it--it just wasn't what we had in mind. We also ordered lobster tails--five of us got the same entrée but with different sides. She seemed a bit scattered handling that, but everything did come out correctly, and again, the food itself was very good. The biggest issue came at the end. We asked about a military discount after the bill came out, so the check was adjusted. My uncle had already written in a tip on the original total. After the adjustment, the tip was changed, but it still came out to around 15%, which we felt was fair based on the service. After we left, our server actually chased us down the block asking what she did wrong and why we changed the tip. That was very uncomfortable and honestly unprofessional. It came across as if she thought she wasn't tipped at all, which wasn't the case. Because of that experience, we're adjusting our rating from what would have been 4 stars down to 3. Good food, nice atmosphere--but that final interaction left a bad impression. read more

Stopped at Rita's after a four‑mile "death march" masquerading as our morning walk. By the time we hit we're back at Arctic we were both starved enough to chew on a beach chair. We were sat in under a minute, and the waitress hit the table with coffee before we could pretend to study the menu. Less than ten minutes later we had our order and drinks, which is about the time my legs remembered how to work again. Food was well prepared and appropriately seasoned, the kind of breakfast that makes you briefly believe in cardio. Great breakfast on Folly Beach, where the grits are real and the tourists are optional. Highly recommended, especially if you've earned it the hard way. Anytime I go to Folly Beach, stopping at Rita's is a must -- either before or after the beach. The energy inside is always fun and laid-back, and everyone is genuinely so nice every single time. The food is always so good. My go-to order is the shrimp po' boy, and their chili is surprisingly one of my favorites. You can't go wrong with a mimosa, but their signature crush cocktails are also a must-try and perfect for a Folly day. Went here today after spending our day at the Angel Oak tree and the Magnolia Plantation and Gardens. After walking on the Folly Beach Pier we went straight into the Rita's Seaside Grille and had an early dinner. The place is really nice and the staff was welcoming and very attentive. We were really happy that they had so many choices for vegetarian food on the menu and even have marked them. We were sitting outside where they also had life music. We immediately got iced water and then our order was taken. We ordered for drinks Ginger Ale, Pina Colada, and two non alcoholic Heineken. Further we ordered the Veggie Sandwich, twice the Seafood Tacos and the Chicken Wings with fries. The Tacos came also with fries. In total we paid $110.95, which is absolutely fine. We very enjoyed our dinner and give 5 well deserved stars. Would we come again? Definitely yes. read more

Went for lunch one day. Got the fish and chips. Batter on the fish was falling off and was under-seasoned. Not sure if they don't use a binder at all? Fries were nothing to write home about. Bartenders were reasonably efficient, although not particularly friendly. Kind of surprising, as I understand this place is owned by the same people who own Hall's Chophouse. This place was awesome! What you see in the pictures is Rita's nachos + steak + watermelon pico on the side. The best nachos I've ever had. Would gladly put these up against any other nacho country wide. The cheese was crusted as you can see. The steak had not a single bad piece. Cooked perfectly (by my standards). Jalapeños added a great spice. All around great. Shared with my wife and we were stuffed after them. Of course room for desert. We got the brownie sundae. Brownie came nice and warm with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream and 4 slices of strawberries and whipped cream. Had a great presentation but forgot to take a pic cause we were so excited to eat. Our server Riley was very friendly and had great hospitality skills. Accommodated every need of ours. The other staff members were really nice too in greeting us. Ambience has a great vibe. We got the Nachos with steak and they were absolutely delicious. Every single piece of steak was tender. This place has large portions, so the nachos would be a great appetizer for 3-5 people, and it was plenty for two of us to share as an entree. For dessert we did the brownie sundae, and it was equally delicious, the brownie was warm and also large portioned. The service was also great. The place has indoor and outdoor seating available - we saw some cute pups dining outside which is always a nice treat. Large menu and hard to choose but settled on the tomato and Burrata salad which was good; big enough to share with 2-3 people. My table chose a lot of good dishes but I settled in with the shrimp and grits dish which was excellent; great portion and filling! We were stopping in at folly beach and wanted a good lunch. We researched and popped into Rita's, seeing they were a Halls Family business. The tropical mojito smelled and tasted just like Hawaiian tropics sunscreen (in a good way!) We each got the crab soup and split blackened tuna nachos. The soup was spot on with a little heat. Creamy with nice bits of crab meat. The nachos were huge - easily could have been shared by 4. Lots of cheese, grilled onions and jalapeños, and chunks flog blackened tuna. They were so good we boxed up the other half we couldn't finish to snack on at home. Staff was good and drinks and food were served quickly.
