I am way overdue for this beautiful find. It was my friend's bachelorette weekend in June, and she booked a sail trip for 8 lovely ladies to cruise on the water. Captain Johnny was fantastic! (And it turns out he was my husband's old High School English teacher! Haha, what a small world.) Captial Johnny knew his stuff and even trusted some of us to sail! (With his guidance, of course.) He was very laid-back and knowledgeable about his boat and the area. We got to listen to some good music and drink the drinks that we could bring on the boat. The experience was beautiful, relaxing, and so much fun - especially when we were able to go for a fun dip in the water. The day was beautiful and Capital Johnny made our bachelorette trip extra memorable with this beautiful sail trip. Thank you! read more

Had a blast on the sunset catamaran. I love the flexibility of it being BYOB, where you can bring your own food, drinks, and playlists. Six people fit perfectly on the catamaran and seating was comfortable. The captain was really chill and helpful, and route we took made for great dolphin watching and a gorgeous view of the sunset. Price is super reasonable and I'd recommend this to everyone, been twice already! read more

We sailed two weekends in a row with Johnny. It was the absolute best experience. We are still talking about it! Johnny is the coolest captain and we love him! He hangs back and lets you enjoy the ride and sandbar swimming stop. Johnny takes pictures and videos of the group and sends them after the trip. It's amazing because you can let yourself be in the moment and then you receive these incredible videos and photos of your group enjoying many moments throughout the trip. Johnny is cool, genuine, kind, and a lot of fun! The price is fair and worth every single penny. I cannot say enough about our magical experiences. I will be sailing with Johnny for years to come and every time I have visitors. Thank you Johnny! You were the best part of our trips! read more

Captain Johnny took my husband and I out for a sunset cruise on June 7th for our 10-year anniversary. He was prompt, kind, very cool and knew his stuff. The boat was beautiful and we lounged in two oversized bean bag chairs while he floated us around seeing the sites listening to tunes and sipping sparkling rose. Johnny provides a speaker ready for any playlist. Playful dolphins greeted us and the sunset was absolutely gorgeous. Johnny is willing to engage if that's your jam, or will chill back if you'd like a little personal time. Well worth booking and we highly recommend. Thank you Captain Johnny! Our family (party of six) chartered a sail boat on our recent vacation and Sail Folly created a great experience for us! Note: If you're someone who gets sea sick, this is somewhat of a bumpy ride, so take meds in advance and you'll be fine! Once you get to the open waters and crack open a beer, seeing the beauty of the coast and the homes and light houses and beaches, you'll feel much better :) The highlight was chasing the dolphins in the reef and being able to lay in the hammock that swings above the water in the front of the boat. The hammock only seats 1-2 and it's a peaceful getaway from the rest of your family (heheh) and a moment to turn the world around you off completely! Captain Johnny was awesome. We took the two hour private sail with our three small dogs and had a wonderful time. Johnny was very knowledgeable about the local wildlife and we even saw a baby dolphin swimming with the rest of its pod. We stopped at a small island to let the dogs run and for us to swim. Overall a very relaxing and enjoyable time. 10/10 would recommend. read more

Captain Johnny and Sail Folly were excellent. His communication was reliable, sunset cruise was beautiful. Boat was nice and clean. He had a cooler full of ice for drinks and a portable speaker for tunes. He took us to a bird sanctuary, let us look for shells on an island, and answered so many questions. Friendly, laid-back, awesome customer service. Worth every penny! We'll be back next time we're in Folly Beach. read more

We had the most amazing time sailing with Captain Freeman today! He was personable, accommodating, fun, and so knowledgeable!! He brought us around to see dolphins, go swimming, and to check out a sand bar. We couldn't be happier with our experience! Yesterday we went for the morning cruise with Captain Johnny and his son, whom was the first mate. They were both attentive to us and any needs, very knowledgable and overall a pleasure to be around. The catamaran sailboat is beautiful and perfect for a cruise around Folly. We had the pleasure of seeing multiple dolphins and got fairly close to them. Captain anchored us at a lovely white sand beach and we got to swim and search for some more local wildlife. Don't hesitate to take your small kids on this cruise, our girls (4 yrs and 2 yrs) did great and loved it! read more

We see dolphins daily along with a host of shore birds ranging from pelicans, herons, eagles and osprey. We took the 2 hr tour and saw ships, forts, the Battery of Charleston, dredges, the old Navy base, dry docks, and a dolphin, etc. Captain Chris tailored the tour to our interests specifically and our recollections of the area from decades ago. I highly recommend. First there were just the 4 of us so no crowds for Covid worries. Secondly , it was tailored to our interests... we covered a lot of ground in 2 hrs! Wow! We had an absolutely amazing trip with Captain Johnny on his catamaran during our annual stay on Folly this year, and we have already decided to make it an annual part of our holiday. Sailing on Folly River gave us such an expanded view of the island, wildlife, and scenery that we have never had on our visits before. It was so fascinating, made even more so by Johnny's knowledge and expertise. Because this is a sail boat, the trip had an element of serenity about it that is just not possible in a motorboat. It was incredibly peaceful and relaxing which added so much to the overall experience. Captain Johnny is a seasoned sailor with an intimate knowledge of the waterways we travelled. On top of all that, Johnny and his crewmate, Freeman, were really delightful to spend time with. We had such a great time and highly recommend booking with Sail Folly. Sail Folly is an absolute must-do in Folly Beach! My boyfriend and I went on a private sunset cruise with Captain Richard, and it was an unforgettable experience. Captain Richard was incredibly knowledgeable about the area and kept us entertained with fascinating stories. One highlight was stopping at a sandbar that disappears during high tide--we found the most amazing (and huge!) shells, the kind you'd never find on the beach. The cruise itself was breathtaking. We saw so many dolphins up close and enjoyed a stunning view of the sunset. The peacefulness of the water combined with the beauty of the scenery made it feel like a dream. The best part of our incredible Charleston visit was this sunset cruise. We saw several dolphins and really enjoyed the catamaran (wouldn't want to sail any other way). My husband and I booked the sunset cruise and loved it! Captain Johnny was accommodating and made us feel very welcome aboard his catamaran. We relaxed in the bean bag chairs and chatted with him during the cruise.
