The home goods section can be a mixed bag, but I've found some really great items there. They have a smaller book section, but I've found that the titles are usually pretty good. Prices are generally pretty fair. If you're looking for recognizable brand-name clothes at a bargain though, this might not be the place because they know what they have and tend to price up on anything with a known brand name, regardless of the item's condition. Apparently, they won't buy dolls without clothes, which completely ignores that the kids will redress them anyways, while selling toys that are either missing pieces or beat to hell, matter-of-fact, one of the toys I've seen was practically broken, with one being a dollhouse that has a broken elevator being sold for $18. They passed one of the items that I attempted to sell but I wasn't given a reason why. All this isn't getting into how they lowball your items and the owner's response was especially unhelpful. If you have some baby items and toys that need a new home, I'd suggest donating them to charities. Need some extra funds? I suggest selling on Marketplace, Letgo, Depop, Poshmark, or eBay, NOT at Once Upon a Child. Fairly negative experience and I don't see myself selling here again.

It is bizarre behavior, and reading the other reviews, seemingly not uncommon. I always feel confident taking my young daughter to nice stores, restaurants, and the like, but when I'm at Castle House I feel judged and like my business turns them off. On 5/25, after contacting them several times and being told they had no idea where in the process our order was, we contacted Bassett directly and were told 1) our order was not even placed until 3/30 and 2) our order was not even in production yet. We were assured by Shauna at that time that if we did not cancel the order with them that we would have it in June. On 6/28, my husband went to the store and was told, again by Shauna, that they did not have the order but they could surely have it in July. Also, that they are moving, which was evident by the appearance of the showroom, but couldn't give out a forwarding address yet. He asked then that the order be cancelled and we be given a full refund. We will see if this company has any integrity, and returns our money after this debacle.
