As the other reviewers online (it looks like old reviews have disappeared) have mentioned, they cover up black mold with renovations but never remove the black mold that is growing inside the structure. My neighbors were druggies. My apartment reeked of cigarette smoke and weed the majority of the time that I lived there. Northland Investment Corporation, the company that manages this place, are very friendly and relaxed towards druggies in their apartment complexes and don't have a welcoming policy towards non-smokers and those who don't do drugs. If you don't smoke nor do drugs, don't live here as you will have various smoke and drug odors in your apartment all the time. Boulders, which Northland Investment Corporation also owns, has this problem too. At both Cliffside and Boulders, they make you sign a disclosure saying that there might be asbestos in your unit. There's holes in the drywall, the popcorn ceiling sometimes falls off a bit, and if you ask if there's asbestos in the drywall and the popcorn ceiling, then they say they can't tell you for sure. Avoid Northland Investment Corporation if you have health concerns. The Regional Manager Peg called me about my review on Google and was extremely rude about it.

I moved in late May, and ever since, I've been dealing with a terrible odor issue in my bathroom. It took me weeks to realize the smell was coming from the vent, not from my unit, but likely from upstairs. Even when I didn't use the shower or fan, the smell came randomly. I reported it again and again. Maintenance showed up multiple times. First to clean the vent, then to install a missing flap (which is supposed to stop outside air from coming in). It didn't solve the problem. I asked the leasing office staff, Brooke and Abigael, to come check. The first time, they didn't smell it because I had the door open - It takes time for me to walk to leasing office and walk them back. The next time, Abigael smelled it. Still, no one followed up. I had to do all the chasing. I spoke with the upstairs neighbor and even smelled it in their unit. I called again. Brooke came but again couldn't smell anything because the fan was on on my unit (we missed this step). I turned it off after she left, and boom--the smell came back strong. Even the upstairs neighbor came to smell it and admitted it wasn't from my unit. I talked to Brooke again. Eventually, maintenance claimed they fixed the flap upstairs, but guess what? The smell is still there. When I called again, they said they've done everything and even suggested I go to the Board of Health. What?? You haven't even properly investigated! I was the one identifying the smell, following up, talking to neighbors, inviting staff again and again. You just showed up and waited for me to give you the next guess. Then Brooke had the nerve to say she's never had such complaints before, even implied it's just my problem. Excuse me?? When I finally spoke to another manager (Kellie), hoping to be heard, her first response was: Do you want to break your lease? That's your solution? They keep talking about their efforts, but never once acknowledged how much time, energy, and stress this has caused me. After two months, the problem is still there. That says everything.

I swear at least once a week they will shut the water off at the most inconvenient times (usually in the morning when people are showering, eating breakfast, getting ready for the day) You'll sometimes get a text that they're shutting the water off, maybe an hour before they do it, but there's no guarantee. These people are militant, snappy, and also lied to me about the original price of the rent. Abigail specifically told us that the price of our unit would be around $350 less than it actually ended up being. Management are swindlers, High key.

With no warning they one day showed up and started building around our porch, apparently with the intent of leaving a single side of the wall open facing the trash. The agent in charge of the property denied knowing this. I am told the town was called to place the stop order that was next to our door for months, and that stories like this are not uncommon. The customer service was not willing to discuss this with us, only started shouting the minute we mentioned why we'd called saying they wouldn't hear this anymore. I don't know if someone else had called them already but this was not the reaction I expected, and they were not polite or reasonable in their conduct.

The cabinets above the fan become coated in grease in the first month. Their definition of service; drapes were left partially installed for days, boxes left on the floor when we moved our son in - it took multiple emails to get this resolved. WiFi - intermittent and poor - our son exploded his data plan because the building WiFi was too slow and weak for him to download class projects. Their rents are extortion - we expected a lot more for what we paid.

They would not allow her to move! We felt really bad for her. The law states individuals have every right to choose gender when selecting roommates. Steer clear of this place (and any of the other buildings run by Amherst Innovative Living LLC). They really don't care about their tenants at all. Just horrible.

The carpet and walls were covered in stains, the kitchen sink handle and closet doors were broken, and the bedroom doors don't have locks. Management charges such high rents that many undergraduate and graduate students convert living rooms into bedrooms, creating a serious fire hazard. Because of the poor soundproofing, the noise quickly becomes disruptive and late-night drinking next door makes the units feel entirely uninhabitable. I chose to leave the complex early to escape these poor living conditions.
