I moved in late May, and ever since, I've been dealing with a terrible odor issue in my bathroom. It took me weeks to realize the smell was coming from the vent, not from my unit, but likely from upstairs. Even when I didn't use the shower or fan, the smell came randomly. I reported it again and again. Maintenance showed up multiple times. First to clean the vent, then to install a missing flap (which is supposed to stop outside air from coming in). It didn't solve the problem. I asked the leasing office staff, Brooke and Abigael, to come check. The first time, they didn't smell it because I had the door open - It takes time for me to walk to leasing office and walk them back. The next time, Abigael smelled it. Still, no one followed up. I had to do all the chasing. I spoke with the upstairs neighbor and even smelled it in their unit. I called again. Brooke came but again couldn't smell anything because the fan was on on my unit (we missed this step). I turned it off after she left, and boom--the smell came back strong. Even the upstairs neighbor came to smell it and admitted it wasn't from my unit. I talked to Brooke again. Eventually, maintenance claimed they fixed the flap upstairs, but guess what? The smell is still there. When I called again, they said they've done everything and even suggested I go to the Board of Health. What?? You haven't even properly investigated! I was the one identifying the smell, following up, talking to neighbors, inviting staff again and again. You just showed up and waited for me to give you the next guess. Then Brooke had the nerve to say she's never had such complaints before, even implied it's just my problem. Excuse me?? When I finally spoke to another manager (Kellie), hoping to be heard, her first response was: Do you want to break your lease? That's your solution? They keep talking about their efforts, but never once acknowledged how much time, energy, and stress this has caused me. After two months, the problem is still there. That says everything. read more

I would not live here again. Throughout all of this fall, wasps managed to make their way into my unit even after maintenance replaced the window screen. I swear there was a nest inside my window or something. They will text you in the winter to close your window if they see it open. This seems overboard as sometimes you have to air that food smell out of your apartment. my window had been open 20 minutes, when I received a text telling me to shut it. Cool, so what do they have a maintenance man watching my window 24/7? Also, CONSTANT water shutoffs. I swear at least once a week they will shut the water off at the most inconvenient times (usually in the morning when people are showering, eating breakfast, getting ready for the day) You'll sometimes get a text that they're shutting the water off, maybe an hour before they do it, but there's no guarantee. These people are militant, snappy, and also lied to me about the original price of the rent. Abigail specifically told us that the price of our unit would be around $350 less than it actually ended up being. Management are swindlers, High key. read more

Bait and switch. My son and his roommate were offered a newly renovated apartment at the time of sale so they agreed and moved forward on the apartment. They arrived yesterday with a full U-Haul truck to a filthy outdated place with no microwave, I cleaned with pubic hair in the bathroom, stains all over the rug, a wall to wall mirror, a fridge that won't open because it's too big, torn old flooring, broken tiles, the shower is malfunctioning, the promised new white cabinets and counters look 30 years old and brown and walls are not painted! I'm submitting a formal complaint with the better business bureau if they don't resolve this immediately!! Bait and switch college kids and my son in particular won't work with me. I'm so furious this was supposed to be a happy day for 2 boys and their first off-campus experience. Look elsewhere! read more

This place is managed by a corporation of cheats and swindlers. Their apartments are tiny and WAY overpriced, and when it comes time to move out they lie their way into keeping most of your security deposit. Do not move here. - 10/7/18 - Any comments made by Sugarloaf Estates on this review are the views of someone who was not involved in our situation whatsoever. The modem in question was left exactly where it should have been left. I have 6 people to back this up. I was charged for carpet stains, and plenty of other things that were already in place when I moved in. When we were initially showed around the property we were quite impressed. That feeling remained when we saw the apartment. It was beautiful, had a breakfast bar, all new stainless appliances, and even smelled nice. So we agreed on some terms and drew up some paper work. When time came to move in, the apartment we were given was a DUMP. Smelled like cigarettes, stained and sticky white appliances, and no breakfast bar. After complaining and threatening legal action we were given another apartment but it was not in much better shape (although they did upgrade the appliances some time later). The heater covers were broken, the closet doors were broken, the carpets were stained, and it still had a rotten smell. But, we made the best of it and cleaned it up as best we could. The bottom line is this: the place looked significantly better after I moved in and cleaned it up. I followed the move out procedure checklist precisely and thoroughly, and was still charged unfairly. So, I guess this is how they get there money for these renovations they are bragging about. The one thing I will say is they do offer a move-in inspection checklist, which I did not do. So all in all, this whole thing is my fault. Lesson learned. Cheers, Mark read more

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Sugarloaf Estates. The staff was always friendly and willing to help! The manager, Kelly, and her colleagues went out of their way to accommodate me when I had issues with my move-in and move-out dates (without hassle). I also received help from Sean, the maintenance attendee, who was always willing to go out of his way to make my stay more comfortable. As a graduate student, the cost was just slightly out of my price range. However, the generally quiet and friendly neighborhood makes the price worth the extra peace of mind if you can afford it. Overall, Sugarloaf Estates is a great place for a fairly quiet atmosphere and comfortable living. read more

DO NOT LIVE HERE! apt was full of mice! they set traps but didn't actually cover up the holes. and they didn't care- pretty much told me it was no big deal even though i had a child living with me. was promised a "bar counter" in the apt but the one i got didn't have it they enter your unit waaaay too often. If you decide to not re-sign you lease, don't let them know till near the deadline as they do an assessment as soon as you turn it in (which may still be six months outs) they charged me for a pool pass (a tiny piece of paper that comes on the keyring) but no one told me that it was pool pass and that they'd charge you if you dont turn it in. (the thing breaks in 2 weeks and you never need it to go to the pool so you would never know it was a pass). they pretty try to deceive you so they can take your money. they do a similar thing with the cable - the "free" cable only has 11 channels - 6 of which are local and you would have gotten anyway) same thing again with the gym - deceitful- it only has two tread mills and a couple dumbells in a tiny tiny room - it only exists to say they have gym let's not talk about the moving of the car during winter to clean snow (most annoying thing ever)- and they want you to park in a lot that you WILL get stuck in and wont get help getting out. the only thing nice about this place is the grounds - which are well kept - which you'd expect as the rent is super duper expensive. $1670 for a two bed room with washer and dryer and a stainless steel fridge and microwave (i know the area is expensive but there are much much cheaper options) read more

Quite possibly the worst managing company of any property I have ever lived at. We had rented a storage unit and the manager Kelly asked the maintenance crew to empty the units without notification throwing out heirlooms, ski/snowboard equipment, and holiday decorations. The only redeeming part of the company itself was the maintenance people themselves, they did the best they could with the old equipment/appliances they would use to replace broken or unrepeatable items. The air conditioning which they say is provided only works in the living room, and makes each bedroom unlivable, and most A/C units freeze up after 2 hours. The pool is rarely open, the gym is in constant disrepair with used equipment that is as old as the complex itself. The snow removal is terrible as well. They come at odd hours if at all, beep their horn once and wait 30 seconds before plowing your car in. There are plenty of places in the local area that are far cheaper, in a better state of condition with better amenities than Sugarloaf or any of Aspen's other properties. Before renting ask any resident you see walking around how they feel about the place. read more

I love my apartment, convenient location wise for me and I love the pool! I work when the office is open but whenever I pick up packages the staff is always super nice. I've referred a few people already and would recommend to anyone in need of a two bedroom. read more

A very nice complex to live in and is very pet friendly. For being new to the area it has been a nice place to be to get a custom with the area. Very diverse and scenic area. read more
