Lets start with the brunch which has a nice selection of different things. I went with the pork milanese eggs Benedict and honestly may be one of the best brunch items i have ever got. the pork was cooked perfectly and crispy and eggs were perfect as well. my girlfriend went with the french toast which she also loved. They also do dinner now which i had been meaning to get too and finally did for their fried chicken and it was something else, savory? crispy and chicken was so juicy , the mashed potatoes and slaw were also delicious. also tried the gnocchi as a starter which was great. They also have a great cocktail menu and a good selection of beers. Feel that the prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get and especially how yummy everything is. Service is always good and its always a relaxing atmosphere when you are there.

Food - amazing! excellent! fresh food, great breads and baked goods, super selection of beverages. Environment - it's a low-key, relaxed store with a few tables, some inside and some outside. Just order at the counter, tell them your name, and they will happily bring food to you while calling your name. You might have to acknowledge the hardworking, down-to-earth, friendly human staff as they call your name. Table space may be limited when it's busy. Pay it forward to the next customer seeking an empty table by bussing your table when you are done. If expectations are a fine dining experience, valet service, and being waited on like royalty, maybe this place isn't for you. If you enjoy great food and drink and are fine with ordering from a counter and being courteous to the nice staff and fellow patrons, you will love this place. We have been here on an annual trip three years in a row, and Southfield store never disappoints. Bonus: they have wifi that usually works - so key in the lands without cellular service.

    The El Puerco Sandwich

Stopped in for lunch as I was driving through Southfield (a pretty rural area). Saw what looked to be a nice place (not much else around) and went in. I was very happy to see a really nice room, baked goods, coffee and a menu board and specials menu that contained three or four items that made me hungry. The person behind the counter was hand making the sandwiches to order and looked to be taking great care in the presentation. As the room was nice, I decided to sit and eat in. I ordered the El Puerco sandwich (see menu picture) which was excellent along with a bottle of cream soda which made a nice sweet offset to the somewhat spicy sandwich. Ordered an oatmeal raisin cookie to go for the ride home. The Southfield Store is an "oasis in the dessert". I would certainly stop in again and even make the detour to this place as a destination for lunch. I was told they serve dinner during the summer months as well so maybe that will be my next venture there.

I've been here multiple times and always have a wonderful experience. Very cute little breakfast place. They have tons of delicious pastries to choose from and other breakfast entrees. Their coffee is phenomenal, my favorite being the mocha. We often come with a large group and they're always more than accommodating for us as we make reservations ahead of time. Would absolutely recommend!

I literally had breakfast/ brunch here every day on a recent visit to the area. Delicious breakfast sandwiches and Sunday brunch. Lovely baked goods. Great coffee. Very impressed with the young staff working here! Polite and hard working. So nice to see!

Perfect for families with small children or adults looking for a nice date night. Service was excellent. Highly recommend. We also stayed in the refurbished barn . Loved the rustic feel. The bed was very comfortable and the rooms very clean. Rooms have a small refrigerator and a microwave but no coffee maker. There is a Keurig one the first floor in the lodging barn with a fridge for half/half so you can half your caffeine fix any time of day. Pros: charming, rustic, lovely countryside location, food and restaurant looks good. (However we did not eat at the restaurant) it was pricey, probably as expected. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom is large, the toiletries are very nice, housekeeping is great. They come in daily and made the bed and changed the towels and replenished toiletries. There is plenty of parking, it is close to Great Barrington, Lenox, Lee, Stockbridge, and yet slightly out of the way into the country, which makes it a special getaway. There are no televisions. Some may consider that a con, I do not. The property and buildings are beautiful. The reconverted barn made into the lodging area was done tastefully, and in keeping with the rustic charm it retained. Some of the rooms have fireplaces, great for the winter I suppose, there is a slight smell of smoke in the room. I like that, some may not. Contactless check in and check out are fine. I don't see the need for this anymore, but it is not a negative. Our room was unlocked and all ready when we arrived. Small caveat; our door did not fully close and was unable to be locked , we did find someone at reception who changed our room immediately. They even offered us an upgrade for no charge, but we decided to stay on the first floor, so as not to haul our luggage upstairs. There is a large glass water dispenser refilled every day in the hallway, along with a Keurig coffee machine, which includes many different pods, including decaf, also a tea selection. There are two small refrigerators in the hallway. I took advantage and left a bottle of milk in there for my morning coffee. It was very quiet, we did not hear any other guests, just some footsteps in the hall sometimes. The air conditioning cranked, which was great because it was a very hot weekend. Cons: there is rarely anyone at reception to assist if you need it. They rarely answer their telephone if you have a question. They rarely answer their emails if you have a question or concern. I made our reservation on line, no problem. I did call and email requesting an additional night to be added. It took 24 hours for a response, but they were able to accommodate us. Would have been nicer to know a little sooner however. I then emailed to ask if an iron and ironing board could be left in our room when we arrived and I received no response. The iron and ironing board were not in our room when we arrived. I did find housekeeping and they were happy to help me I remember calling between five and seven times on the phone before our arrival between 3 PM and 7 PM and no one answered the phone anytime. They do have breakfast from 8 to 10 in the morning, which is too early for me. Maybe not for some. A bland selection of muffins, no other bread items or croissants or rolls. Some nice cut up fresh fruit. Coffee but no decaf. I did not partake and did not think it was anything special. All in all, my husband said he would not return nor would he recommend this B&B to anyone, however, it certainly suited our needs, we were comfortable. At the end of the day was it worth $1000 for three nights? Probably not .

Upon arriving, our table was ready up near the front window which allowed for fun people-watching. Our waiter did a good job - drinks were fine, menu was a bit limited if one is looking for a nice entree offering, but we selected hangar steak, fish & chips, homemade pasta bowl, etc and they were fine. The one problem which turned a perfectly good experience into one which all of my guests commented on was that after dropping $500 moments earlier, we waited by the host's stand to use the restroom, and each time the waiter/owner? passed by, he said excuse me in an irritated manner, even though a couple times he wasn't even bringing any food out. We were not blocking the passageway nor creating any noise - just waiting for the restroom after dining at their establishment. A little attitude adjustment for his guests' patronage (or an additional restroom) would've made all the difference in whether guests would choose to return to his establishment. We arrived for our reservation and were offered a very small two-top. Because we were dining with our dog, we politely asked if it would be possible to wait for a larger table where she would not be in the way of other guests or staff. We were not demanding a different table -- we were told it would take approximately 30 minutes for another table in a different section to become available, and we happily said we were willing to wait. We sat quietly outside with our dog while waiting. The owner then approached us and told us that waiting for another table would interfere with future seating. We were surprised by this, as we had simply accepted the wait time that was provided to us and had not caused any disruption. The interaction escalated when the owner used profanity toward my husband and threw the water bowl that had been provided for our dog in our direction. We were shocked by the hostility and left without eating. We completely understand that restaurants have to manage reservations and seating, and we would have accepted being told that our request could not be accommodated. What was unacceptable was the way we were spoken to and treated by the owner. We came here excited to spend our money at this restaurant as part of our trip, but we are grateful that Great Barrington has many other excellent establishments where we were welcomed and happy to spend our money instead. Unfortunately, this experience was the opposite of the hospitality we expected.

When we reserved our room, we purchased the dinner package, which included a three course dinner at Stagecoach Tavern. The website stated that gratuity was included in the package because "we have raised our prices to provide better wages for our staff." With the lack of a front desk & seemingly no internal system for keeping track of guests, this "package" proved to be difficult & frustrating to redeem. The staff didn't seem to to know about our 6:45 dinner reservation, let alone our dinner package. But eventually we were led to a table where we sat & waited. & waited. We waited so long, without anyone visiting our table to even take our drink order, that we had time to notice some disturbing things around us. 1. Lipstick stains on the cloth napkins. 2. Lipstick gunk on the water glasses. 3. Flies buzzing around everywhere. 4. Other patrons looking annoyed & restless. About 15 minutes into our sit, another couple was led to a table next to us. Then the server returned to take their drink order. Then they received their drinks. Then they ordered food. ... All before anyone spoke to us. At one point, we made note that they might know the owner. In that case, how embarrassing for Stagecoach Tavern to have a dining room full of restless guests & continuing to only dote on the customers they know personally. Bad practice. Finally, after about almost an hour of sitting, a very stressed bartender noticed us. He stopped to take our drink order, despite our table being very obviously out of his jurisdiction. He was out of breath & agitated, so we didn't think it was a good time to bring up our alleged "package." We just ordered "whatever can be made quickly," since we had a concert to get to. My partner ordered the burger. I ordered the fried fish. He was quickly on his way. Then the special table next to us received their food. Our table was still empty, except for the lipstick stained napkins, the lipstick gunked water glasses, & the flies. There was a table of 3 near us that had been already sitting when we arrived at Stagecoach Tavern. They were restless & clearly upset. When they finally got a chance, they flagged down the elusive server (who had still not visited our table) to ask for their food to-go. They couldn't wait any longer. We watched in horror as the server gave no explanation, no apology, & no discount to the table of 3 that was requesting their "fine dining" to-go because it was taking so long. After speaking with the table of 3, the server finally came to our table. It had been OVER an HOUR since we had been sat. She didn't realize that the bartender had been by, so she asked us what she could get us to drink. We told her that we didn't need to order anything, as we had already spoken with the bartender. I did request replacement water glasses, though. We also asked if our two entrees could be covered by our dinner "package" because we didn't have the time to wait for a three-course meal at this point. She said no. We asked her to check with a manager. The VIP table next to us had completely finished their meal & were waiting for the check, at this time. We didn't hear back from her & didn't receive new water glasses. Eventually, our drinks & food were dropped at our table by a member of the kitchen staff. My partner said the burger was phenomenal. The fried fish dish was a nice medley of flavors. I particularly enjoyed the unique blueberry/dill combination. It was, unfortunately, tedious to eat & not enough food. I knew I would still be hungry, but we certainly didn't have the time or patience to order anything else. The concert was due to begin at any moment, so I left the tavern to head over to the venue, leaving my partner with the unsavory job of settling the bill (thank you, love you.) Apparently they did eventually call it a wash, as our two drinks & two entrees tallied up to a total that was far less than what the dinner package could potentially include. My partner left a $20 bill on the bar for the bartender. After the fact, we were charged $185 for the dinner package that was supposed to be included in our room reservation. They included a $24 restaurant gratuity charge which really tied my knickers in a knot, considering their spiel about raising staff pay & included gratuity. Even if you build your own three course dinner by ordering the most expensive starter, entree, & dessert off the menu, you still won't tally up a $185 bill. The dinner package is a scam. After repeated attempts to contact their customer service (again, there's no front desk) we finally received a refund for the dinner package. What a disaster. Where is management?

This unique and quaint respite in Sheffield provides both an indoor and outdoor relaxing food and drink experience. It was too cold to go outdoors, but they did have a fire pit going in case one wanted to brave the elements. Inside the restaurant you will experience a variety of different seating choices. From booths to tables to private fireplace options, you could go back again and again without sitting in a cookie-cutter type table. Fresh toasted sourdough bread with a buttery garlic side cup is a solid opener choice. You get plenty of bread for two or more to share. The shrimp and scallop risotto main entrée was terrific even the risotto critic couldn't argue. Fairly good sized with a respectable amount of both shrimp and scallops. The risotto had a nice Parmesan topping with a touch of lemon. Now, the Chick lien pot pie was outstanding! A sweet pastry topping kicks this decadent special. Lots of flavor in every spoonful.
