Great coffee and what was eggs and potatoes

What a great restaurant and atmosphere. The food is fresh and great. Try the cinnamon roll! Liz is amazing and has great taste...add cheese to the scrambled eggs. Abbot on the other hand is a rude server. Try to avoid him. He's know for throwing plates and spilling coffee at the table. Probably better to eat at the counter or just take the food to go. Other than Abbot worth the wait for a table. Just avoid him. Remember you're tipping the cook in addition to the mediocre server.

This is the best kept secret in the Berkshires. The food is locally sourced. The staff is amazing and the vibe is completely inviting and fun. It's your chance to meet the locals and your chance to eat the local food. Monday nights are the best with the food that is comforting and high-quality and something you crave in your life. The breakfast on the weekends are works of art and it's a beautiful watering hole for coffee in the morning.

A gastronomic treat. The Blt is outstanding. Everything I've tried here is a culinary delight. The staff is welcoming and atmosphere relaxing. A must try for breakfast and lunch and don't forget dinner on Monday

The family that has run this shack is in the third or fourth generation of ownership, my family and I have been going here for over 30 years and have seen it go from a thriving dairy farm with fields and horse-drawn hay rides, with taps and buckets in the individual trees, to a much reduced farm selling off plots for McMansions, struggling even just to keep the sugaring tradition alive. The kitchen is bare bones, just an electric griddle and a small sink area, and the food is not gourmand. But it is fulfilling and delicious and cooked with heart. Like the other reviewer said, this is not a Disneyfied sugar shack, this is the real deal. Throw your support behind authentic New England dairy farmers, but be prepared for a real down to earth farm run by real New Englanders. Bring your rubber boots.

It's small but seats probably 20. The Mollison's have been running this shack since the 60's, making their own maple syrup and serving breakfast. It is a sweet, nice experience to go there and see the people who live in the hilltowns who actually go to these less spiffed up places. It is worth your time to go here. The food is not fancy, but they put their heart and soul into it and it is very satisfying. The maple syrup is great, of course. The pancakes, bacon and everything else is made fresh to order. You can see the kitchen in the dining area and my neighbor loves their maple candies. They're home-like pancakes and are typical of the sugar shacks in western mass. (The ones who really work on food and use whole ingredients are Davenport and Strawbale, while Gould's pretty tasty food). You won't be disappointed for visiting the hard working people of sugar season in Mass. It is beautiful.

On top of that, I asked twice for my plain black iced coffee, and it didn't show up until after I finished eating, which kind of defeated the purpose of ordering it. It genuinely felt like the staff was more focused on chatting with each other than taking care of customers. The vibe from the employees was also not great. When I mentioned I was vegetarian, I got a reaction that felt really judgmental and dismissive, which made me uncomfortable. When I asked for the Wi-Fi, I got hit with a snarky, "Do you not see the sign?" while they pointed at something completely hidden. The whole thing came off as really passive-aggressive. Overall, the service felt rude and unwelcoming, the food was cold, and the drink situation was just annoying. I left feeling like I had spent money just to be treated poorly. I've actually given this place a few chances, because I do like the aesthetics, but the food and service are just not good. The food is bland, and I don't feel like paying $20 for something that tastes like cardboard. ALSO I ordered a kale salad and the kale wasn't even massaged. It was just straight up kale dressing and a few pumpkin seeds. This was $17 by the way.

Most recently my husband and I split a turkey club crepe, French onion crepe and seasonal strawberry rhubarb crepe. All brilliant. 2 years ago when we came through we had the French toast breakfast crepe (which included eggs and bacon inside it) which I still think about because it was delicious, but so confusing that those flavors were so good together. The little salad given with the lunch crepes is appreciated too. This spot is usually pretty busy. You order at the counter, take a number and sit. They have a fridge of tap water carafes you can grab for your table and they will bring the kitchen items out to you. Sometimes there's an in shop singer. It's a nice space with flowers, art and local interest items as decor. The only uncomfortable moment is it bottlenecks a lot by the order counter and can be crowded there.
