We have used southwest lending closet several times over the years. And we have donated equipment to them also. They do a great service to the community by providing mobility equipment and home health aids for 90 days at no charge. We used a wheelchair for a week when my father wanted to see his granddaughter graduate college and knew he would not be able to walk the campus even with his walker. When my father moved in with us, they provided things like transfer benches to get him into the tub until the ones that we had ordered could get to us. And most recently this week, I broke several toes and was able to borrow a knee scooter for a few months Not only does this charity provide items that people only need temporarily and can't really afford to rent on their own. But they also help keep them out of the landfills and in the hands of people that need them read more

The ladies are very quick and super friendly. They have a lot of equipment for you to borrow. I was going in for a wheelchair (what I thought I needed). I was wondering why they keep asking all these questions. Other lady in the back was figuring out should I borrow a wheelchair or a champion chair. I didn't know the difference. I found out I need a champion chair, because I was pushing the person and it is a lot lighter than a wheelchair. They know their stuff! read more

The ladies here were very nice, helpful and quick. Did not feel rushed and given enough time to get what I needed and they helped make sure it was comfortable before leaving. Very busy establishment with a lot of drop offs, switching outs and pick ups. The waiting company were very nice as well. Very inviting. read more

Stopped in today and we were greeted by very friendly staff who promptly helped us borrow 4 pieces of equipment for our 90 year old mom who is moving in with us. I appreciate that they have this service, and the items are good quality, however I don't believe that they are the best at PR, no smiling, seemed pretty sure if we violate their policy lawful action would be taken, my beautiful fiancé walks in with a smile, and there attitude and abruptness with her, left us wondering what we had done to deserve this treatment back in October 2019, she commented on it as we drove back to deliver these items, which caused me to make this feedback! read more

The Southwest Lending Closet is a non profit group that lends durable medical equipment FREE to those that need it. No qualification other than photo ID and contact information. My wife is a recent amputee that is learning to walk again on her new prosthetic. The physical therapist (aka miracle worker) is trying to wean her off of the walker. Seems like only a few weeks since he got her to take her first step with a walker. Now it's time to move to a cane. He suggested a Canadian crutch - aka forearm crutch. The Lending Closet has them. We were able to use them for a couple of weeks to see how she acclimated to them. Worked great if you overlook the terror of an hour learning to walk with just a crutch for balance instead of a nice solid walker. Comfort blankets take many forms. I ordered a version known as the King's Crutch from Amazon.com It is a sexy looking ergonomic crutch designed for the King of Spain when he had hip replacement surgery. Returned the loaners today. Great service, very nice staff. They have wheel chairs, crutches (including Canadian crutches), canes etc. They also have toilet chairs, shower chairs and transfer benches. I never knew how helpful these things are until my wife needed them. I tried to lift my wife over the shower door lip to sit on a shower chair. Huge mistake. Fortunately with long unused back muscles and lots of adrenalin, I did not drop her. Found using a transfer bench, entry and exit from the shower is easy and no assistance is needed. This helps her self esteem and my back. Hope you never need the service of Southwest Lending Closet, but they have durable medical equipment you may need for loan, free. Donations of used equipment and money are warmly accepted. read more

I also find the services at lending closet a wonderful choice. We needed a transport chair for someone. The terms was a drivers license and checkout for short term (90 days or less). What a great service. Check them out!!! Volunteers are needed so if you have time, go see them. read more

They have just about any durable medical need for lending in 90 day increments. I recently borrowed a knee scooter. They were very friendly, heloful, knowledgeable & efficient. Lending necessary short term use medical devices for a simple donation? Wow guys, talk about fulfilling a need in the community! We were lucky to have heard about this place. We were able to borrow a knee scooter for two months and they simply ask for you to make a donation. (How much you can afford and what value it has given to you should be considered when deciding on an amount to donate). This is a well run facility with a staff of volunteers. The equipment is in good condition and well cared for but may have some scuffs and scratches. read more

Love this place. The people are so nice and incredibly helpful. I also appreciate all their knowledge on the various medical devices I have had to check out over the years. I found out about them when our daughter injured her leg and needed a wheelchair. I have since then gone back many times to help my aging friend. I truly appreciate all that the volunteers do. They are swamped and I don't know of any other place that allows you to check out medical equipment for no charge. They have been a God send. read more

Best. Hidden. Gem. Ever! My mom was preparing for knee surgery and looking for a walker and other expensive items to help with her recovery. Donation/volunteer driven SW Lending Closet was the ticket (thanks @Goodwill for the recommendation)!!! Tremendously friendly and knowledgeable staff and a wide variety of medical equipment that you borrow FOR FREE!! Simply return it when you're done!! If you're needing a wheelchair, elevated toilet seat, walker, crutches or anything like that to get you through a recovery, this place is a must!! Its a library for expensive medical items - but they gladly take donations and volunteers. We'll be supporting this non-profit!! read more

I was referred to this place by a friend and it was a lifesaver! No money out of pocket is needed to rent equipment for 3 months! It is such a savior to community and save us $$ to have to rent or purchase somewhere else. The staff is very helpful and kind and suggested other equipment that would be handy due to my foot injury. It's great to have a resource like this one for people who need temporary equipment, but they could definitely do better with their customer service. I called a few minutes before noon. (Their hours show that they're open 24 hours, it it's not accurate) I tried to explain to the lady who answered the phone, that the hours were not accurate but she was so rude. Great organization for those in need of temp medical equipment but terrible customer service. The women here were not friendly. One women asked the other to give me a lesson on how to use the knee scooter and she said no, another woman was here for that she was too busy. They also locked the doors behind be me and when someone was knocking on the door to return equipment they looked and ignored them.
