Loved how quiet and peaceful this spa was. Plenty of seating for everyone to spread out. Umbrellas if it is too hot. There is a wet sauna and a dry sauna. The whirlpool is inside and has plenty of seating. There is a restaurant, Sprout, with some healthy options and some cocktails. There is poolside service. The pool is large, not headed though. Unfortunately I had to find all of these things myself as no one showed me when I checked in. I really prefer being given a tour since I had no idea where I was going. Massage was just okay. What: spa day with hubby at JW Marriott's spa. We both had a calming 60 minute massage with female masseuses. I think mine was Elenor? Overall a good massage but I had to ask her twice to decrease the pressure and she also didn't put an eye mask on me when I flipped onto my back, which was awkward. It was also freezing in the room and although she said she put it on warm, it never warmed up. I was ok on the warm table, but when I got up afterwards, it was still as freezing as when I got in. They recently did a renovation and the women's shower area is really nice with big individual frosted glass showers with a dry area in front of the shower so that your things don't get wet. Prior to our massages, we enjoyed the co-ed pool area which is for spa guests only, 18+. This was a relaxing area with several water features with different pressures that you could stand under. They also had two small pools to the left which was a cold plunge and a hot plunge (no jets). The views of the mountains were so relaxing and the waiter Daniel was highly available for you to order food and drinks if wanted. Then I went to the women's only area to shower. They offer the most amazing smelling salt scrub (complementary) that makes your skin so soft. Don't forget to grab a bowl! The attendants in the women's area were so helpful. In this area was also a steam room, sauna and an area to dump a bucket of cold water on yourself. They also had 3 heated beds that you can lay on for 10 minutes before your treatment. After the massage, you go in a co-ed sanctuary and lay on a bed with a weighted blanket with noise canceling headphones for 25 minutes. This bed also vibrates to the sounds you choose. One side of my headphones wasn't working unfortunately. After, this led into a co-ed lounge. The hot water maker was already put away (at 5:06pm when they close at 6pm) so I couldn't make myself a cup of tea afterwards - especially when I still felt freezing, which was really disappointing. I expected more for $295 - better snacks and tea available until closing time. I don't think that is a lot to ask for. With so many spas in the area, if ever back in Scottsdale, we don't plan to return. read more

I believe the spa is undergoing renovations, so I was very underwhelmed with my experience. The spa space is very small. You can spin in a circle and see everything. All areas are coed. There is currently only one changing space for 1 person at a time. A tiny locker area that includes an infrared spa and 2 lounge chairs squeezed up against the wall. My massage was decent. Didn't care for the idea of leaving the facility to go into another room for the service that was poorly put together. It literally is one of the hotel rooms with some spa beds thrown in. My service included a complimentary glass of wine that I did not receive until I asked. The dip pool is small and quiet. Pool service was the best thing going. Drinks were extremely tasty but weak at $18. The fish tacos were a hit. You do have access to the main pool as well, but I did not visit. If this is the new permanent spa, really not worth coming back. They should at least discount the services until they have quality accommodations. read more

As for the amenities, I'm not sure since I'm from Vegas, and my standards might be quite high (the hotels in Vegas have exceptional and spotless spa facilities, so). It was my birthday weekend and I chose the JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback resort to celebrate. We spent the night before on property and it was lovely. The next morning I had a 9 AM spa appointment that I had booked a few weeks prior- an expectant mother massage. It was 60 minutes. When I got there, I was running pretty tight on time. I met with Christina up front and she checked me in. She was super sweet and it was a great first impression. She gave me directions on where to go. I went down the stairs and met the locker room attendant who escorted me to my locker. I didn't get the full tour because again, I was running tight on time. I saw enough in that brief walk to my locker room. When I went into the waiting room, my massage therapist, Dianna was already waiting for me. She was such a treat. We ended up talking most of the time. I had never met anyone from Siberia before. She had so much wisdom and knowledge about so many things. She taught me a lot. In fact, when she was done, massaging me, she actually wrote down a whole list of things I asked her to because I didn't want to forget the great things she said! Towards the end of the massage I kind of drifted off and fell asleep a little bit. It was really relaxing and she did a great job. I'm only a month away from having my baby so I'm very pregnant. She was careful the whole time and very gentle while still applying pressure where I needed it like around my shoulders and neck area. I would definitely recommend her if anyone is ever getting a massage that needs strength. She's very strong. Great person. After my treatment, I took a little bit of time to myself to wander around. They have a beautiful outside area overlooking the mountains, where you can enjoy coffee, read a book, enjoy the quiet time. They have the waiting room, which is a quiet room with snacks, infused water, tea. Your usual waiting room/spa suspects. Because it was my birthday, they gave me a free smoothie/juice/beverage coupon for their spa restaurant - Sprouts. My massage therapist even walked me over there to introduce me to the bartender who is so sweet. She ended up giving me a green juice. It's from Pressed Juicery, which is one of my favorites. it was so nice that I got a free juice. They have a beautiful pool area. You can rent a cabana or just relax out there by the pool. There wasn't many people out there when I went, but I definitely laid down in a chair for a little bit. They have a steam room and a sauna and also hot tub in the locker room. I enjoyed using their shower and all of their amenities before I headed out. Overall, I felt so nice and relaxed. My family told me I was glowing when I got out. Definitely worth the money. You're definitely going to be, spending a lot more than you normally would because you are at a spot at a resort, but I will say I felt like it was money well spent. It's always important to pamper yourself. They have a gift shop that sells skin care, hair care, products, as well as clothes, bathing suits, and accessories in the spa area as well. My husband brought me here for a spa day for my birthday. The check in process was a little weird as I never got a tour even though they asked if it was my first time there. So I did a self tour and found myself just wandering around trying to find everything. The place is a little outdated and could use a refresh (which I heard is coming). The entrance for the pool does not connect to the locker room so you have to go through the lobby to get there. So while people are sitting there eating you're tromping through with a towel and dripping wet. Also, there are no rooms for couples massages only single rooms. The facilities were clean and well maintained. The locker room was well stocked. The pool has great views! The service at the pool was really good and I feel the guys went above and beyond. Spent the day here with my mom and it was absolutely lovely. We got there around 9AM and hung out by the pool, ate some good food, went into the women's area to the steam room and lounged in the waiting area. They provide you with water everywhere and even crystal infused water as well. I love how it was kept clean, everyone was nice and friendly. I purchased the restorative massage and Kelly did a phenomenal job. I even fell asleep which never happens for me. She made me feel comfortable and relaxed. Overall a great and calm experience. Let my start by saying this is one of my favorite spas in the phoenix area, we have been coming here for years. Today, on my mommy's day out/ birthday present, I was less than please. My massage from Diana was absolutely amazing. She did a great job and I would 100% come see her again. Laying by the pool, and I understand this could be a staffing issue. I waited for water for over an hour while sitting outside by a pool. I never got my Diet Coke I ordered. However, I did order lunch from Hoppin Jacks because I never got a server out by the pool at the spa. Paige and the man who drove me to and from in the golf cart were amazing. read more

We came here for my best friends bachelorette. There was a group of about 10 women. We were escorted to the spa on a golf cart which was a fun experience. Their customer service is wonderful. They do have a rooftop pool with floating pillows that you can lay on, and somebody comes to greet you and take your food/drink order, which I thought was a very nice touch. The drinks are good! The massage was therapeutic. My masseuse did a fantastic job, and when I asked for more pressure or less pressure, he was attentive and listened. The only recommendation I have is that the dressing room for the women is overcrowded and seems like it could use some renovations. Myself and the rest of our group felt that it was unprofessional and tacky for the masseuse to try and upsell us once we got inside the private room for our massages. Any additional add-ons should have been asked at the front desk before our massage. The eucalyptus room was very cold and did not smell like eucalyptus. If guests are entering that room after being in the hot tub, or the steam room, they will be wet/damp...the room should be at a comfortable temp. And the floors could have been cleaner, many dirty foot marks. But overall it was a nice experience and I recommend this place!! read more

It was fairly crowded, however the space was manageable and relaxing The front desk parties are were so friendly to start& end experience . I wish Marriott would offer a staycation over the summer months which included spa amenities and a "special offer "to purchase a spa card at a reasonable discount to use during the stay, , maybe even including a fixed percent tip?! We were slightly disappointed that samples of skin lotions available were not automatically offered to take home, but Christine at the front desk made sure we had sample of guava lotion, which we both loved to take home. What an amazing view as soon as you enter and look straight. It was pretty busy, but I was checked in and the lady told me to go on ahead into the salon. I looked at her strangely as my appointment wasn't for a few hours and told her that I was going to use the facilities. She apologized and said she would help with that shortly. Meanwhile a group of females was getting checked in so the receptionist told me to just follow them as they were going to the locker room to get assigned the locker and get a tour. That was kinda weird, but the group was nice and welcoming and I am a spa aficionado so whatever. Got checked in, and wandered around to discover their steam room was broken! I kid you not. You dunno how disappointed I was and no one said anything when I made the same day appointment or at checkin. Part of why I pay the spa prices at resort is to use the facilities so if something isn't working, then I wanna know so I can cancel and look elsewhere (and a customer shouldn't be penalized for this late cancellation either!). If I recall, I thought it was kinda dated and was surprised they didn't put towels on the floor because it could get VERY wet and slippery from people getting out of the jacuzzi. But what I remember fondly is that even though it was super busy, everyone knew to be quiet and behaved and didn't take pictures in the spa. You dunno how many spas I've been to where the etiquette is gone so this was refreshing! I also like their quiet room. The pool outside is nice with great views. There was a server to take your order, but seemed disorganized and slow. I opted to eat inside the cafe. Also slow and disorganized service, but meal was healthy, good, and light. My nail tech was an older lady who did a good job, but had an attitude and sighed very heavily when I told her she missed a few spots while painting my nails and the shape of the nail wasn't quite right (I like square with round edges--very square). Do you know what she said? Its not a big deal like someone is dying or anything. I told her that was correct, but I'd really like my nails this shape and she was like here do you want to do it? I told her no, as I was paying for her to do my nails and I didn't really know how to do nails as I always get them done. Low and behold she was able to sorta get them right. Wasn't greatest service since I could tell she was still missing some paint on my nails, but it wasn't worth asking her to fix it. Also, my manicure came with a paraffin treatment and she didn't know how to use it and had to interrupt other people's service to get help from her coworkers. Turns out she was supposed to have started that at the beginning of the service as it takes a bit to heat up and she wasn't really listening to what her coworkers were telling her. So, a very subpar service and customer service and experience. I was surprised how cheap the service was and she said it used to be even cheaper. All the resort spas I go to cost around $100 for a regular manicure so I was pleasantly surprised. Fast forward this month, I called and was able to make an appointment for today. I was told I don't get access to the spa, which is what the website says. I didn't push the matter as it wasn't a big deal. The website shows off peak and peak prices. I assumed that would be weekdays vs weekends, but learned that is not the case. Receptionist said off peak is summer time only and isn't necessarily all summer so you just don't know unless you specifically ask when booking. Also, when I got the confirmation email, the cost was higher than on the website. When I checked in, I told them that and they said they would honor the website price and then informed me that they recently raised their prices (again), and that this particular time, they had added an additional fee to their services. For nails, it should have been $95 and all other services was an additional $50 on top of their regular prices. I couldn't believe it--a spa with fluctuating prices?!?! Never heard of that before. I asked if they raised the prices, would nails now included access to the spa and she said no. I told her most of the resorts in the area includes it when it's $95 so they should consider it and she said its a possibility as many changes were to take place soon. So lets see. My nail person was great today. Got the shape just right, nails painted no issues, and did the paraffin treatment on time. Plus, she was pretty quiet since I was attending a work meeting so worked out great. read more

The amenities described by other reviewers here are no longer available while they reconstruct spa facilities - now called Jackrabbit spa. The building they moved to is much smaller, but they seem to be booking the same number of people because there were times we had nowhere to sit due to crowding. All amenities now include an infrared sauna but there is a waiting list to use it as it seats two people, a cold plunge for one person, a whirlpool and two toilets. The shower they provide is the one in the restaurant by the pool which is a long walk away. All spaces are co-ed including the locker area - if you need to change into your robe you do it in the toilet and make sure to lock the door. My massage was wonderful, although my party had very mixed reviews (50/50 you might get an awesome masseuse or one that is inexperienced). If the above was provided for a steeply reduced cost it would be fair but this feels like a cash grab as they are charging the same prices they did 7 weeks ago for a seriously pared down experience. read more

Visiting The Spa at Camelback Inn is my favorite part of my stay at the JW Marriott Camelback Inn. This time I opted for a CBD massage which was wonderful although very costly. The staff is friendly and gracious. Upon entering the ladies locker room, the atmosphere is quiet and calming with dimmed lights and soft music playing. Amenities include a keyed locker, luxurious robe, and shower shoes. For use at no cost is organic sunscreen, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The pool area is clean and QUIET! Sounds of birdsong & gentle wind chimes are present but unobtrusive. The pool staff is attentive without being intrusive. I ordered lunch which was delivered poolside. The food was fresh and the presentation beautiful. All in all a wonderful day spent! read more

I get it it's a spa and you want tranquility and peace and this is the place if you want to hear crickets chirp. And not the place if you want to chat it up with a girlfriend and enjoy a cocktail poolside. Mostly and older crowd. The massage was just ok and seemed very overpriced for the areas considering you can. Go up the road to the Joya Montelucia & have a fabulous treatment along with stunning grounds and awesome Amenities. The staff was very lovely and nice and even tested us to a complimentary smoothie for my Birthday it was delicious. But I probably won't go back anytime soon. What a peaceful place to spend a Saturday! And let's be clear, you can (and I did) spend ALL day there...checked in at 8am and didn't leave until 5pm. It was heavenly. I started with a long workout in a very nice gym--lots of machines, cardio and free-weight options. I meant to do yoga, but got side-tracked with breakfast. My girlfriends and I enjoyed smoothies, eggs, asparagus, oatmeal, turkey bacon and coffee--all delicious. The facilities of the spa itself were nice, clean and tranquil. I utilized the saunas/hot tub and then headed out to the pool. There is service by the pool and we nibbled, drank and laughed all afternoon. It's a PERFECT place to spend a day amongst friends. (The only reason that it's four stars and not five is because of the bathroom situation. There are simply not enough. Each time you have to go, you have to get up from the pool and venture through the restaurant and into the women's locker-room. This applied during my workout in the morning as well. A bit annoying and worth noting--there should be a single use by the pool or by the gym. There is a single use one in the salon, but it's not convenient at all. This Spa is amazing!! All of the Staff here are very courteous and helpful. You must have a reservation for a service or a day pass to access all the amenities. The restaurant here called Sprouts has awesome food as well. Men and women Spa areas are separate. The Men's area has full showers and private lockers. The attendant will provide you sandals and your locker key. The Men's area has a Steam room, Sauna, Mineral Hot Tub, and a small Cold Pool. Also there is a Men's Lounge that is quiet and relaxing for you to sit down at before your service. Of course my primary purpose was a 1 hour Swedish Massage reservation! My therapist was Destiny and she was incredible! She found every tight spot and worked them out! After that amazing massage I went to the common pool to relax and enjoy an adult beverage!! I have to say, this is one of my favorite spas in the Valley! My best friend and I like to come here for special occasions and pamper ourselves all day long. While parts of the hotel are a little outdated, their spa is truly one of the best. You can't beat the gorgeous views and tranquil environment, We recently came for our 30th birthdays and had the most relaxing Sunday having lunch at their tasty and healthy spa restaurant (they have great, non-alcoholic refreshing drinks for mommas to be), laying by the pool, and using all of the incredible amenities in the locker room. I also got a maternity massage. While it was good, I've just really grown accustomed to a massage table with a literal hole in the middle (so spoiled by my regular massage therapist). That said, they have the foam hole that you put on top of the table but even at 25 weeks pregnant, laying on my tummy felt wrong. I could feel the baby moving around LIKE CRAZY - it just didn't seem normal. He did start to calm down after some adjusting, it just felt odd so was a bit hard for me to relax. But all in all, after having a few maternity massages at resorts without the hole in the table, I realized that just isn't my cup of tea so I think i'll stick to my normal gal while pregnant! Beautiful views and a wonderful spa experience. There is a very private area for female guests to lounge. This area is right off the hot tub room. A perfect place to sun privately. I walked out there and allowed the cool air and dry heat to dry me off after showering. It has the perfect elevated view of Camelback mountain too. During any season, if a spot next to the spa pool is what you want, arrive early. Schedule your services fairly early in the day so you are at the pool by 11. The service at the spa pool is nicer, in my opinion, than the Jack Rabbit pool. Sorry. It may be the size, Jackrabbit is considerably larger than the Spa pool area. The spa food is delicious. On my last visit, I had the strawberry fields salad. In general, I think the resort could benefit from more creative and exciting crafted cocktails. However, perhaps not. This resort as a whole is doing everything right to me. This spa could be more inviting by dimming the lights a little in the common areas such as the dressing room, the treatment waiting area, the hot tub.... . It is very bright in there. That bright light doesn't make me feel relaxed. Maybe a yellowed light? I'm not sure, but I like toned down lighting in the areas with the hot tub and the treatment waiting room. I think that the spa was fairly full this last trip. So the quiet common areas were not very quiet. Small issues and thus the 4 star. Return Factor 85%. read more

My fiancé treated us to a Romantic Saturday with massages and some quiet time by the pool!! It was amazing from beginning to end! Staff was friendly and attentive! The lounge area for the ladies is amazing with all the amenities one would expect from a Marriott! My massage therapist Sara was absolutely wonderful! Just the right pressure on my deep tissue and the additional foot hot stone treatment was just superb!! I enjoyed the steam room, jacuzzi and then set off to meet my love by the spa pool! Booked a spa day for my wife on our 30th anniversary. We were staying on property and spend some big bucks at the pool and dining. A big issue I have with Spa's is that they ask for the gratuity up front?? You absolutely should tip based on experience not up front as an expectation. Wife said the massage was ok, but not out of this world. Based on a $225 massage, 20% ends up being 42.50. So $270 for a mediocre massage and if you don't tip up front, you probably have a pissed of Therapist who won't go out of their way for you. This industry needs an overhaul. read more

I have used this spa once every year for the past three years. The facility is really calming and I love the fireplace in the quiet room while you wait for your treatment. I've only gotten massages here but they have all been relaxing and amazing. The staff that works here is very helpful and welcoming which was nice. They even let you take a bag of herbs after you leave and I always get lavender. You can hang out at the pool after or before your treatment and the drinks and food here are tasty. The pool isn't as pretty as the other one at the resort but it is better if you like quiet. This has become one of my favorite spas. read more

Bel was friendly, efficient and made suggestions for our visit that will enhance our experience. The last time we were at this spa for a 3 generation visit was 23 years ago, with my mother, daughter and me. I had high expectations for this spa being that it's at a JW. The lobby and restaurant areas are very nice, but I was underwhelmed by the locker room and men's spa areas as well as the treatment rooms. The decor style is very rustic which is appropriate but kind of threw me off. It works in the lobby areas where it has sort of a craftsman feel, but the locker and treatment areas had sort of a summer camp cabin vibe with outdated tiling and finishes. The men's wing of the spa is very large but not well appointed - the "quiet room" was furnished in hotel room arm chairs, no loungers, and had a tv in it which makes no sense. Didn't feel that the showers were very clean, definitely need a steam clean on the grout and the silicone seals replaced as they seemed to be growing some dark mold or accumulating sediment over time. I did appreciate the access to a private outdoor area, but it's right next to where the AC compressors are housed which is a bit loud and wasn't situated to take advantage of the view it could have been afforded. I also felt the whole men's area was too bright - a lot of windows and skylights. I love natural light but I find it's easier to relax in a darker spa. If you're looking for a more contemporary spa vibe, this isn't the place. Friendly staff at check-in, in the lounge area and at the restaurant, all very pleasant. I was very put-off that they were accepting an afternoon delivery of liquor which had to be rolled through the men's locker area over a coarse tile floor, not very relaxing. Later when I was enjoying a meal, they rolled it out again to the bar area to start processing the delivery. Those things really soured the experience for me especially at this price and the quality I would have expected from a JW spa. The massage itself was fine, attentive therapist but nothing special. I found the soundtrack difficult to relax to - had sort of a country acoustic guitar playing, too upbeat, not spa vibe. The treatment room was also very bright which was unusual. All-in-all, an okay facility although I would caution them to have better attention to detail on a few of these experiential things. If you're looking for that rustic feeling this could be for you, but didn't do it for me. read more

I'm giving it a 4 because the facility is beautiful and the employees are all so very kind and helpful and I especially loved Shelley Narath!! She is new to the spa and she was very assertive in fixing a problem I had. My husband and I both had messages and we were not thrilled with the treatments but maybe we are use to a different style of massage. I would not recommend Michelle at all. The pool and lounge areas are lovely and the servers were very on top of things and again Shelley was also very on top of things!! But I did have treatment with Alice and it was relaxing. Thank you to Shelley and her staff I look forward to visiting again and trying a body treatment instead of massage. read more

The camelback inn spa finally got an upgrade. No I don't mean a renovation of the spa facility they got something even better... for years now I have regularly enjoyed this spa and it's quiet pool with beautiful views. They also have the best smelling body wash and lotion of all the spas in the valley. Unfortunately the service at the pool was always very slow and sub par at best. The older lady that worked there just seemed tired and Anxious for people to leave. Last visit she was looking to leave early for Easter and was telling guests. It left us feeling we needed to leave while we had planned to spend the afternoon. Well thank goodness ... they upgraded to Scottie ! Scottie is an adorable friendly , attentive server with amazing sunglasses! I had a cocktail within 5 minutes of sitting down and he is so pleasant! I am soooo happy the camelback inn upgraded to Scottie. We will get back in our regular rotation of this spa again now !!! What a great upgrade ... welcome Scottie. read more
