I recently visited Spa Avania and was honestly pretty disappointed. For the price you pay, I expected a much more elevated and luxurious experience. Instead, it felt very comparable to what you can get with a basic gym day pass--infrared sauna, steam room, mineral pool, and cold plunge. My gym already offers all of that, so I was expecting something more unique or spa-exclusive. The biggest issue for me was cleanliness. The hot tub/pool area really needs a deep clean--there were visible skin cells and buildup along the edges, which completely took away from the experience and made it feel unhygienic. Overall, the atmosphere has potential, but between the cleanliness concerns and the lack of anything that sets it apart, I wouldn't recommend it. You can honestly get a very similar experience elsewhere for a fraction of the cost. read more

I'm talking elbows on my body to work out the kinks. He did a great job. The spa is split between men's and women's sections with a wet and dry sauna in each. Showers. Lockers. Toiletries. In the shared area there were snacks, lemon water and a heated pool. It also took 45 min, so it's the only reason she didn't send it back & order something else. My swest salad was also horrible. The waiter brought it back in 1min. I'm like how was that so quick, he said it's pre-made. For $22 a salad it was so bad. The lettuce was yellow, chicken soggy not fresh. Disgusting! Also, I parked in valet parking. I was told next time ur valet will not be validated & I will be charged $10. She said I had to use self park. I was like seriously! I just spent $700 on a spa day & I can't get valet parking? This is the only spa I ever been to that doesn't validate valet. Seriously unreal! The management needs to be seriously evaluated by corporate. Another complain was the tacky aprons they make the servers wear. They had nice elegant black outfits on, but then they were made to wear "ketchup, mustard, relish" aprons. I wish I took a pic. We felt like we were at a kids pool not a spa. One poor lady server was dressed in a red/white stripe hat & apron. She looked like she was selling pop corn at a carnival. I highly recommend this spa located at newly-renovated Grand Hyatt Scottsdale. It offers spacious, smartly designed spaces for just about everything you need. You can purchase a day pass to enjoy the facilities as long as your time allows or better yet, you can book a treatment and be able to access the same amenities that way as well. There is a "garden" area for jacuzzi and cold plunge, with outdoor showers. This garden then leads to a beautifully relaxing co-ed mineral/saltwater pool. You can get lunch/beverage service generally between 11-4p. Staff are exceptional in every way. Lunch menu is great, with quality ingredients and produce. I had the most amazing deep tissue massage with Sabrina. The facilities are clean and it wasn't too crowded. Highly recommend.

We started off our long weekend in AZ with a couples massage and some time to use the spa amenities. My only regret is that we should have done this AFTER we did a ton of hiking...but, all good. The facilities are really nice. I found the "pre massage waiting area" very relaxing and enjoyed the cup of tea I made myself to accompany the snacks they had out. The massage itself was an hour but it went by in what felt like 20 minutes. Very relaxing, just the right amount of pressure. After the massage I made use of the hot tub and plunge pool, and then we spent some time by the mineral pool and ordered drinks and lunch. Good food, not exorbitantly priced, came out quickly. I ended the experience with a shower with no less than 8 different shower heads, all with great pressure. My absolute favorite part of the whole day. All in was $580, which included both massages, food, drinks, and tips. Not inexpensive by any means, but I would definitley come back. read more

We had a lovely afternoon at Spa Avania. The spa is located at the Hyatt in Gainey Ranch. They have a free self-parking lot. The spa is a little dated, but they make up for that with their service. We purchased the massage deal on Groupon for $165 each. We were able to opt in for the couples suite with no up charge, which is always a plus. Our masseuses did a fantastic job with our 60 minute Swedish massages. Dawn was definitely a skilled masseuse and removed all the tension in my shoulders. The pool area was crowded, but Kami did an awesome job with regulating our drink & food requests. We ended up splitting the chicken pesto panini. After that we decided to order some more food. I had the shrimp tacos & Fiance' had the burger. Both were tasty! We had a fantastic time at Spa Avania. My only critique would be the women's hot tub needs a good cleaning. I booked 6 spa appointments for my sister's birthday. When we checked in- they only had appointments for 5 of us. The front desk offered me a manicure instead, but that was during the time we had planned to be having lunch poolside. They offered to comp some of our food at the pool. Overall, the food was very underwhelming. The pool attendants are very unfriendly. For a Grand Hyatt I would expect much more in terms of service, amenities and food quality. There are numerous excellent spa options in the Valley and I would not recommend this one. The only bright spot in the day was our server, Kami. He is a delight! read more

What a wonderful spa! Came in for a girls spa day and it was the best day. The property is beautiful and the staff is friendly and attentive. Highly recommend booking a massage or facial- you will leave rejuvenated with all of your stress melted away. We came in a few hours before our appointments to enjoy all of the amenities. From the moment my Mom and I arrived, everyone made us feel welcomed. They take Covid seriously and all staff is required to be vaccinated. They also require masks inside at all times. McCall gave us a tour of the facility and when I tell you they've thought of everything you might need during your stay, I'm not kidding. Bags for wet bathing suit, sun screen, hair bands, razors, tooth brush, q-tips - the list goes on. We enjoyed the mineral pool alllllll day (8:30-6) and this is included in the cost of our services. Even the room you wait for your service in has the best view & snacks: nuts & delicious cookies. We both had facials which were lovely and so overdue after the pandemic. They were $150 with a $30 resident discount but they charge an automatic 20% tip based on the original price. Just a heads up. Lunch was enjoyed poolside and served by an amazing guy named Kami who might be the worlds most polite and well trained server. We ordered the chips & dip, salad with salmon and a chicken panini sandwich. Everything but the panini was terrific. Pretty sure they forgot 75% of the chicken and it lacked all flavor which was a bummer. Despite the lunch hiccup, we're going to make this an annual Mother's Day treat. read more

This was a BIG leap of faith for us, as we have our favorite spa in town and this one did not disappoint. We booked through Resort Pass for $99 to get access to the spa - this is a great way to avoid their hefty spa fees, but all you get is amenities. It's a GORGEOUS property and the amount of amenities included are quite amazing: Mineral Pool (not heated), Cold Plunge, Hot Tub, Dry and Wet Saunas (light therapy inside the wet sauna) and plenty of lounging space indoor and outdoor, although limited lounging space around the pool. The staff were all VERY friendly and so nice. However, we went on a Saturday with a rather large bachelorette party that ordered several champagne bottles and (1) kinda ruined the atmosphere of the mineral pool/outdoor lounge area with their screaming - I even got splashed in the face by one of the girls and (2) they made an absolute MESS of the locker rooms. The poor staff was definitely overwhelmed cleaning up after them with the towel bins overflowed. I am not discouraging huge parties, I think it's a great atmosphere for it, but just something to be mindful of. I also felt that the staff could have possibly limited them as they were already getting rowdy after they ripped through their first 2 bottles! The food was delicious! My husband had the shrimp tacos and I had the shrimp ceviche which was bomb and a great portion - bonus if you're doing low-carb, just omit the chips and it's a decent lunch! My husband has a big appetite, so shrimp tacos were NOT enough and we got the garlic hummus. Personally, the garlic hummus wasn't worth the price they put the hummus in one of those plastic sauce cups (the larger kind) and was barely enough for the amount they charge (see our photos) I also felt maybe there wasn't enough staff to clean-up. At the beginning of the day, they were already out of towels by the pool and several lounge chairs had towels on them from guests that never came back - so no one was sure what loungers were still open. Also around 1pm when we were ready to order lunch, the staff were all busy or sometimes nowhere to be found, so just keep that in mind when ordering your lunch! There are also only 3 indoor showers, so when I went to shower off, at the end of the day, to go to dinner, they were all taken. The outdoor showers would have been fine, if it weren't raining by this time. The women's locker room does include shampoo, conditioner, body wash and in the bathroom they have hairdryers, razors, mouth wash, laundry bags and more. For these experiences, I always recommend going during the week, if your schedule allows as this will be the least busy time. Overall, it's a FANTASTIC spa and I can't get over how many amenities they include! We will definitely be back! read more

AHvania! What a pleasant surpise for a spa day retreat. My friend and I tried the Spa early April, weather was perfect to make use of all the amenities this place has to offer: Large Co-Ed Outdoor Mineral Pool with Lounge Chairs (surrounded by a lily pad pond, water features, palm trees and the AZ sun), Outdoor Jacuzzi, Outdoor Cold Plunge (with adjacent showers to shower off all that chlorine), Lounging Spaces at 2 Fireplaces, Lounging Spaces inside (treatment waiting area). We missed the Wet/Dry Saunas, Salt Room, Gym, etc. We made an entire day of it arriving at 8:30am (when it opens) to prep for our 9am appts. After our treatments we met up at the pool (got our seat prepared for the day), ventured about, had more treatments, had lunch served poolside (great shrimp tacos and Pineapple Jalapeno margartias). Such a great day. Staff is very attentive and friendly. They have great programs for locals (frequent treatment cards, discounts, etc). Totally exceeded my expectations. LOVED IT! read more

He helped me as I was outside enjoying the fire place which I do think is a good touch and I enjoyed. Cons: the outside women's mineral jacuzzi, not the 100 & something degrees I was told upon walk through (it was more of lukewarm to me). Steam room a joke I exited within 2/3 minutes. This steamer just did not give the same effects, no real moisture I felt I was just sitting in dry air. Sorry its a bit hard to explain. The co-ed pool was not warm enough for my liking either. My massage therapist also came late to get my massage started which made us run a bit behind but then we still finished right at the 60 minute mark. If you come late & I have to walk up and down to are room time should be added. Massage just ok & while In the massage room dressing I did not like I could see out of the sheer part of the blinds because I was unsure were others able to see in. Lastly when leaving there were no small towels. I was off to a dinner after but had nothing to wash my body with, I did bring my own toothbrush etc but I just have never been to a spa that did not have small towels to wash off with but has everything else to get ready. Most even have small towels near there steam room because they are usually hot but as I mentioned above this steam room seem to function differently then most and not in a good way to me. Beware! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I booked my sister's treatments (for a Sister Day) directly through the spa. The front desk booked a manicure and a pedicure and an Essential Wrap. She booked the nail treatments before the Essential wrap. I questioned the receptionists if her nails would be ruined during the wrap, she said it would not be a problem. We even asked again when checking in, and again she assured us that the nails would be dry and not a problem.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My sister also told the provider of the wrap to be extra careful with her nails. Well..her nails were ruined during the service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We told the front desk receptionist, they told my sister she could come back the NEXT day to get her polish fixed with no charge. (it's a 60 minute round trip drive to the spa.)[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My sister was still charged for ALL 3 of the services and they even tacked on a 22% service charge. Visited during a heat wave and never felt uncomfortable, even in the outdoor areas. Lots of spas associated with resorts offer access to all the amenities but, let's face it, the extras rarely make up for the price of treatments and services. Spa Avania's amenities are worth it! We made appointments that gave us plenty of time in between treatments to use the hot tub, plunge pool, poolside lunch, mineral pool, and showers. Side note: it's very entertaining watching people go from the hot tub to the plunge pool after you've experienced it yourself. Yikes, that's cold! LOL Anyway, we spent the entire day here and I have to say we never felt rushed or in anyone's way. The staff from start to finish are simply amazing. Down to earth and genuinely concerned with you having the best experience possible. They're always available to help with graciousness and efficiency. We felt very cared for and, well, pampered--which is the point of spending a day at the spa! We had a yummy lunch served poolside in a lovely shaded area served by a friendly and caring staff member. A glass of wine and a light lunch before heading into the mineral pool was just the ticket. The relaxation room is spacious and had a few snacks available for grazing while we read in between treatments and checking out the amenities. We chose facials, massages, and body treatments--all of which were delivered with spa-quality products and techniques. We were silent in some and chatty in others and the providers did a great job matching our communication approaches. Spa Avania is our new go-to any time we're in Scottsdale. The mineral pool is heated to a nice 86 degrees so we were able to take a nice dip after our wonderful message. Followed by lunch by the fireplace to wrap up the day. Day much needed for us. We took advantage of a couple's massage. Greeting was great and with a smile. Escorted to the locker rooms and greeting again by assistance in the room. After being given a locker and changing clothes to the supplied robe, we met to head to the room for the massage. The two ladies that handled the massages we're very courteous and attentive. The massages were performed great with our choice of oil fragrance. We left the room refreshed and relaxed. The mineral pool was nice and had a Koi Pond connected. Plenty of room in the pool and lounge chairs. Nice waterfall feature to set a quiet ambiance. There are jacuzzis and cold plunge on each side of the locker rooms. Jacuzzi was small but right size. The cold plunge allowed one at a time which was perfect. Also in the designated locker rooms was saunas and steam rooms and a relaxation room with nuts, fruit and dried apricots. Near the pool was two lounge areas. Plenty of room to relax and enjoy the 2 fireplaces. Plenty of infused water throughout the spa. Outdoor showers we're wonderful. Everyone loves a good outdoor shower. Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash supplied. Down falls would be... Jacuzzi on female side was out of order. The only mixed area was the pool...no couple's jacuzzi, sauna, or steam room. I am a fan of Gainey Ranch and this spa is definitely one that you should put on your list. read more

So we got groupons and made our reservation we were a bit late so one of the ladies was suppose to show us around first then get dressed and then do our massage and do whatever we wanted but instead we got dressed got our massages then she showed us around. She was nice. So when I got in my massage room she asked what melody I wanted there was a list to choose from. Also she let me smell 3 different oils and I picked the lavender one. Also there was to rocks and she told me she will leave those on the floor so I can see them and I can pick which ever one speaks to me. The room was nice and big and it had a big window. So she started with the feet and worked up, she asked how much pressure I wanted and if I wanted to work in a specific spot. My neck area needed some work and she did a great job. Felt really good after. After we went in the mineral pool which is nice. Also there's a hot tub and a cold plunge which was super cold. There was a steam room & sauna. We tried all of them. They have a salt room but you have to pay for it, it's an extra charge. The place where you sit and wait for your massage and just to relax as well is called the relaxation room. There's water and snacks inside too. Like apples, brownies, & mixed nuts. We had complementary drinks but it took awhile to find someone to ask for some. You can get champagne or wine or other soda drinks. At the end we got a parking pass code so we didn't have to pay for parking. It would have been $14. read more

Long review alert!!! My friend has been going here for 5 years and raves about this spa, so we did a spa day this past Sunday. I usually go to the JW marriott or the royal Palm. It was a total if 5 of us. I had a massage scheduled for 1245. Myself and one of my girlfriends had the same appointment time and arrived at 1230. We got checked in and the young lady at the front desk called for someone to come take us to the correct area so we can get changed, no one came. We were told to go downstairs and make a right to find locker rooms. We got down there and no one assisted us at all as to where we can find the ropes, lockers that were available or anything. We had to fend for ourselves On to the the massage, my masseuse was Brandon and he was amazing. I would go back just for his hands. After my massage I saw my friend, who is a regular and I told her about my experience. It was at that moment I learned that I was supposed to receive a tour, I was supposed to have been ask what size shoe I wore because they do provide us with slippers, which I didnt receive. I then started seeing other women come in and get the royal treatment so I was pretty disappointed with my service. We did receive a complimentary glass if bubbly. But of course you cant just have one so we indulged on a couple of glasses. It was lunchtime so I decided to order a burger. While eating my burger I found a piece of hair in it and I was disgusted. No one came to check on us for about 20 mins so I had to flag a person down to tell them about my food. I tried to stay positive but I was extremely frustrated. Us 5 ladies planned a relaxing time away from our children and it wasn't that relaxing. In closing the ambiance is nice, the mineral pool is nice and the site is well manicured. I went with my mom for her birthday and upon arriving at the valet desk the guys sent us over to self parking telling us that is was closer for us to park there, they both really didn't seem like there wanted to work. Christopher was definitely a skilled masseuse but the worst part of my experience was that the room we were in was adjacent to the pickleball courts. I decided on 60 minute Swedish massage and 30 minutes in the salt room. The salt room holds 2 people at a time so we paired up for that. The amenities such as the pool, sauna, and hot tub are included when you book a service 30 minutes or more. Upon arrival, I was told my masseuse called out and they were searching for a replacement. At first, I was upset because we booked weeks ago and out of the 4 of us, why me?!?!?! I love massages!!! But so be it. The staff at the front desk were very nice about it and asked if I wanted a complimentary facial instead. Complimentary sounded great but I wanted a massage. So I decided to wait and see if they be could find a replacement. Luckily, they quickly did but since she was on her way, my massage would not be at the same time as my friends. So I just chilled out and enjoyed the spa. I sat in the waiting room and ate some complimentary cookies which were really good. Then I relaxed in the sauna for awhile. I was going to order some food afterwards but they came and told me that my masseuse was there setting up for me. She showed up quicker than expected! I believe her name was Courtney but don't quote me on that. The massage was everything! Very relaxing and she made sure I was comfortable and enjoyed the pressure. We had nice conversation until I got too comfortable and I started snoring. It was that good! I loved it! When it was all over, my body was so relaxed. She did an amazing job! I met up with my friends poolside and I was able to eat with them. The very nice ladies at the front desk told me my food and drinks were on the house because of the mishap. I ordered the Prosecco and the shrimp tacos; both were great! After that we did the salt room and then it was recommended to go into the sauna afterwards, so we did. We met back up with the other two and enjoyed the pool. Kami waited on us and he was wonderful. He made us feel like Queens. He was extremely accommodating and courteous. We went to the hot tub and it's very small but it was just the right size for the 4 of us. There's a timer on the wall to be considerate for the other guests. 2 of my friends dipped in the ice pool. That wasn't for me. The sauna, the waiting area, salt room, bathrooms and massage rooms are indoors. The pool, a lounge area, the hot tub, and the ice pool are outdoors. They give you a robe and slippers and there are towels everywhere. They changed the fruit in the water during our stay which was nice and tasty. And also the shower is great! I finally had my first spa day and WOW. I have been missing out! My mom booked us a 90 min massage through Groupon and we decided to lay out for 2 hours before our massage and relax. They have a nice mineral pool, jacuzzi, cold plunge, saunas, and nice showers! You get access to everything when you book a spa service. I will say the food and beverage choices at the pool were just okay. There wasn't very many choices or a variety. Also beware that the alcoholic beverages come in a tiny glass that's premade and costs $12! Not worth it to me. I did get the shrimp salad and it was soooooo delicious! Before your massage you go into the relaxation room and you can have a glass of wine (we got a complimentary coupon for one) or water, and they have dried fruit and nuts and cookies as a snack. The service was amazing and so was the massage. My massage lady was Monica and she was super nice and checked to make sure she gave me the right amount of pressure. read more

My friend and I were on a road trip to Arizona and decided to end it with a relaxing spa day in Scottsdale. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here. I had an organic facial and a deep tissue massage. My massage was amazing! We arrived early enough to enjoy the hot springs, eucalyptus shower (divine!) and steam room before it got too busy. After about 1p, the spa got more crowded, and I opted out of the mineral pool. I would recommend booking a morning or weekday reservation if you would like a more socially distanced experience. I was pleased that the employees consistently wore masks. The spa attendants were ever present and helpful and the spa and was impeccably clean. Now on to what can be improved: My esthetician unfortunately was coughing during my facial. Although she was wearing a mask and coughed across the room, it was a distinct smokers cough. She also smelled of cigarette smoke. Also, a couple of days later, I had a scab on my face from the area where she somewhat aggressively did an extraction. All in all, this led to a less than pleasing experience. Yes, I could have stopped my spa treatment and voiced my concerns. In an effort to maintain some zen, I didn't. I was also surprised that employees with COVID-19 symptoms would be allowed to work. I have had spa treatments all over the world, including many high end establishments and have never experienced an esthetician who coughed or smelled like cigarettes. Great spa experience. One of the best if not the best in Scottsdale. Loved the private spa only pool..although it did get a little crowded on a weekend afternoon. Service was a standout here. Constant upkeep of the facility and genuinely friendly employees. Only suggestion is that they add some more equipment or update the gym. For such a top tier facility, some basic pieces of equipment such as a cable machine were not to be found. I'd come back though. This is a special place to unwind for the day. read more
