My boyfriend and I visited The Spice & Tea Exchange, and we had such a great experience. They offer a wide variety of spices and exotic blended teas, and you're allowed to open the lids and smell everything before choosing, which made it really fun and interactive. They seem to have more than just spices and tea, which was a nice surprise. We picked up a spice blend that I used with a baguette and homemade tomato soup. I mixed the spice with olive oil, lightly toasted the baguette, added butter, and then drizzled the spiced oil on top--wow, it was amazing. It had a nice kick and so much flavor. I also tried their pineapple green tea. It's slightly sweet, which helps balance out the bitterness of green tea, making it very easy to drink. This tea was for my treat, I enjoy it well. Everyone working there was very friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be going back. It is a bit pricey, but the quality makes it worth it--especially for trying something new or buying unique gifts for special occasions. read more

Loved their selection of Monk Fruit sweeteners and they let you sample them in this store unlike the Disney Springs one. I bought the brown monk fruit and the orange & cranberry one. Keith bought a portable salt grinder and I sampled their creme caramel green tea. They are great! We'll be back! read more

This is a really cool place to grab teas, spices, rubs, fresh coffees, etc. We normally get the Florida Sunshine product, which is a lemon salt and we get it for gifts for family members. We just noticed on its ingredients listing on the product that in the past couple of years the producer has added sulfate to the ingredients which one of our family members is sensitive to. Still a good experience in one of our 'go-to' stores as we make the rounds in Mount Dora. read more

What a wonderful experience! I tried the tea bar for the first time with an herbal banana nut muffin tea sweetened with monk fruit, and it was incredible. The staff go above and beyond to be warm and welcoming. They love talking about their products, brainstorming tea ideas, and offering suggestions--such a unique touch! I'm a sucker for the Spice and tea exchange in my home town, so when I see them outside of my location, I always stop in. While visiting here, I saw they had one as well, so I walked in. A wonderful collection of spices herbs teas. I cannot des rice the majesty of this place. The tea collection is marvelous with a unbelievable selection to please any palate. The spice are unbelievable. I bout a dry rub and the aroma was to die for it was if I could taste through the smell. It smelt of 100 bbq picnics. Then the sugars. You only think of brown and white anf that doesn't even scratch the surface of their selection of fine sugars and salts. Words escape the true nature if this place If you are a foodie or preparer of fine foods..you simply must come to see this place. By land air or sea get there. I love this place. I have been to multiple stores around the country. Thier product is superior. I love love the flavored olive oils and balsamic vinegar. The many options are wonderful. This is a rather neat spice and tea store. There were so many options of everything, they even have some flavored sugars. There is a whole wall for spices with containers that you can pick up and smell. All of the spices are organized based on use and what they would be good for. The tea is set up in a similar fashion split up between black, green, herbal, etc. I buy loose leaf tea quite a bit and the pricing was very similar to another small business owner I've used in Savannah. Yesterday my husband and I stopped in the Spice and Tea Exchange for a cup of ice tea to cool us down on a hot day. The tea was so good we bought some of the herb tea mix to take home.....then...we tasted the flavored sugars and smelled all the aromatic spice blends. Needless to say, we went in for tea, but we left with two bags full of goodness. Don't be put off by the price of $1.50/ounce for spices. It is less than what you will pay in the grocery store, and the freshness and flavors cannot be compared to the dull flavors of what you find at Publix. Don't get me wrong; I grew up on McCormick and all those store bought brands, but over the decades, I have found the fresher the spices, the tastier the meal. I felt like a kid in a candy store. The entire experience was wonderful and relaxing - a simply fantastic time. Stephanie was so generous with her time, never impatient. She was a wealth of knowledge and was pleased to share what she knew. She was a gem!! Kalen made the best tea! He was a delight, as well, and was equally thoughtful and kind and happy to share his great knowledge of teas and spices. He was such a doll! Both Stephanie and Kalen were were a joy to spend time with and made our afternoon at The Spice and Tea Exchange a wonderful experience. They were engaging, energetic, friendly, and knowledgeable. Cons: Does not yet have the ability to brew drinks for customers Bottom Line: If you wish to experiment with infused spices of fresh herbs in your cooking this is the place to come. When I walked into Mount Dora's Tea and Spice Exchange I was greeted by a very friendly staff. The staff made sure that they were available for any questions I might have and were considerate without being overbearing. What I especially appreciate is that there is no pressure to buy any products and that the staff allows you to smell as many of their products at your own convenience. You won't find this sort of autonomy at Teavana. The store is beautifully arranged and especially inviting. The black truffle sea salt and sriracha sea salt piqued my interest and will be an interesting combination to use. There is a fair assortment of teas, however, nothing that is too out of the ordinary. Where the store really shines is in the degree of fresh herbs that they have and their signature blends that are specially made for anything from a low country boil to panaag curry. You can find anything from cat nip to savory and anise seeds. I was really surprised to hear that the store was a franchise, albeit not a very large one with only 30+ stores. The store definitely has a personalized feel and is a much better alternative to other tea and spice franchises. Walked in and the place smelled great. We were greeted and told about there special salt. Tons of spices and teas and sugars. Almost overwhelming. Loved everything bought two small pouches of different sugars that were delicious for $5 each. I did think the prices were high and that's the only reason it's not 5 stars.
