Walked by and had to drop in. Recently ran out of my fancy balsamic vinegars. They had some new flavors! Umeboshi and pink guava were new to the store; I tried flavors that might not be new, but are new to me. The store associate helped us find items and explain things to us. I left with the pineapple balsamic and the cranberry pear balsamic. Others I liked were the champagne vinegar and the mango balsamic and the grapefruit balsamic. I didn't like the key lime. The lemongrass mint was interesting, but very strong on the mint. Overall it was fun to see what they have and try new ones. I still left with only my favorites. I still have plenty of olive oil so I didn't buy any of those, but I did try the spicy Calabrian pesto oil. Oh- they have ice cream samples if you wanna try the balsamic on ice cream! read more

Having been introduced to infused olive oils and flavored balsamic vinegars as simple salad dressing, my wife discovered Mount Dora Olive Oil Company (OOC) through word of mouth. Although Mount Dora can be a fun destination on its own, we spent a good amount of time in this store. Sampling is permitted and is necessary if taste matters to your palate. Another key to success is using the laminated pairing card that OOC provides. Once we found an olive oil we were particular towards, we used the chart to narrow down the balsamic vinegars. The balsamic vinegars on their own were quite tasty! However, we had to stick to our original goal and figure out the pairing. We eventually chose the Lime olive oil and Blackberry Ginger balsamic and the Garlic Olive oil and Neapolitan Herb balsamic. We also purchased the silicone pour caps that are reusable and easily cleaned in the dishwasher (we were told). The employees were very helpful in their assistance and recommendations and suggestions. We found out from them that the infused oils are imported from Chile and balsamic vinegars are imported from Italy. If enough is purchased during a trip and you're a part of their rewards program, you can get free stuff. On this visit, we crossed a threshold and received a free small bottle of balsamic vinegar, of our choice from the selection available for this reward. Reviews at home since implementing the simplifies salad dressing options have been very positive. One taster said, "mind blown." Our mission has been accomplished. What little gem of a place in Mount Dora. As we were strolling along on Moonlight Bayyyyyy... oops wrong venue... well we were strolling, but in DT Mount Dora when we came across this place. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by staff and informed of how it works... use the little cups, pour from the tester bottles and dip the bread pieces... if you like, get it. They have olive oils and balsamic vinegars, soaps and honey flavors among other items. Come in and taste all day... well, at least for a few minutes. We purchased the 60ml bottles in a package of four to try out some flavors in dishes at home. The staff also gave us information on pairings and the website. Absolutely love this place! They have the best oil in Central Florida. We make the drive every few months, just to restock on our favorite olive oil. The store also has samples of their vinegar, honey and oils. However, due to covid they are not doing that at the moment. The orders are taken outside and they bring it out to you. Hopefully when things get better well explore the samples more and try different ones. But for now, our go-to is the Tuscan Herb yummmm! read more

The. Most. Lovely. Woman. Was working the shop when we went in on a recent weekday afternoon. We were not dressed to the nines by any means. My hair was thrown up in a top knot and I was wearing sweat pants and instead of hiding the expensive balsalmics, she was super friendly and told us how the bread and cups work to get your samples. We ended up spending a good amount buying a number of bottles of the 18 year balsalmic as gifts, so it's a good reminder to be nice to every customer-- you never know who's just there for the snacks or who's there to actually give you their money. Things may not always be as they seem and this business definitely seems to get that. Go in, you'll feel super fancy tasting all the interesting selections of oils and vinegars whilst never feeling "eyed" or pressured into buying anything. Very good vibes :) read more

They have a great gift box you can customize and sent to your favorite home cook as a gift box. Street Parking is readily available on most days. If you have never been there and your taste buds become overwhelmed I would suggest trying the Tuscany olive oil. It's a must! So many flavors and adds so much to almost any dish you create. One of my favorite is using the Tuscany olive oil as a base for garlic toast. I combined crust garlic with semi dried parsley and the oil. I than brush it on each side of the toast. This is such a cool shop. And, so organized, clean, professional, presentable - fun and educational, too. (And I think I've exhausted all adjectives for now). There are an abundance of flavored olive oils, and even more of an abundance of unique flavored balsamic vinegars. Plus, spices and flavored salts - and a bunch more interesting gourmet food items. Be sure to grab a few cups of diced bread to the right of the entry whem you come in, and enjoy free samples of everything before you buy. Be sure to read which oils and vinegars compliment one another and the flavor profile descriptions. The staff here are SO helpful - seriously nice people - they won't even give you the side eye for all sampling every single one of them. I like things spicy, so the harissa and green chile oils are 2 of my favorites. But, the onion and cilantro oil is where it's at. I highly recommend it - it just adds so much well rounded flavor to anything you're cooking, and like any of these goods you can use it sparingly to make it last. Overly fruity balsamic vinegars are not quite my thing, but I really like their classic, high end traditional balsamic. Overall, I'd recommend you stop in any time you are roaming downtown Mt. Dora. I can't believe I've not left a review for this store. I used to drive over an hour whenever I could to run in here and grab my favorite pineapple balsamic vinegar . To die for. Nearly every day I cut fresh avocados and Roma tomatoes and splash this pineapple vinegar with avocado oil, salt & pepper, salad. Hum. This is one of my all time favorite places. So...we came here early in the day and purchased 8 bottles of olive oil because we had trouble deciding. (each one is more delicious than the next!). This little boutique is the epitome of customer service. We were greeted by the two workers when we walked in. They kindly told us the process to taste the oils and vinegars and then left us to peruse the store. We purchased a few items and mentioned that we were on a motorcycle. They immediately offered to provide us some bubble wrap to protect the bottles and then placed the nicely wrapped bottles in a zip-lock bag for us. Ensuring, if they did break or spill, that the liquid wouldn't get all over our stuff. They also mentioned that if we wanted to order from them that it is best to call, at this time, than place an internet order. The internet order system wasn't working properly and was charging too much for shipping. Finally, they also support our military and veterans by giving them a discount. I didn't even have to ask, the young lady saw I was a veteran and told me they gave a discount! Such great customer service after I had such a bad experience at "Walk in the Woods".
