I was skeptical going to my initial appointment with Dr. Ramesh, after already having been flat out denied treatment by 2 different offices of a large pain center in the area. The denial was due to an assumption made that I was seeking medication management only and not pain management, which is definitely not the case. Odd thing to assume since I even requested a referral to restart PT, which I had to temporarily stop due to my move, and since I only had an appointment with the NP and neither doctor that denied me as a new patient ever spoke to or met me. Today went great!!! Dr. Ramesh is wonderful and very personable!! He reviewed my films and history, spent time talking with me about my nearly 25 years of chronic pain, and knew which interventions I have had from reading my history. Then he told me up front that he wasn't going to make me start back at square one and repeat the interventions that have not worked in the past. He also offered an explanation as to why he believes past interventions have not worked, proposed the first intervention that he would like to try, and explained in detail exactly how it works and why he thinks it may reduce a good amount of my pain. He treated me with respect, demonstrated empathy and compassion, and fully included me in the treatment planning. He also assured me that there are other interventions available if the first one he suggested is not successful. The staff was also very friendly. My only suggestion is that they explain discharge instructions better, especially with new patients to the practice. Overall, great appointment and I will definitely be continuing with Dr. Ramesh for pain management!! read more

The Spine Care Center is outstanding! I have been seeing Dr Zafar and he has changed my life!! Dr Zafar listened and took time to find the issue with my back and show kindness, care and respect! Dr. Siddiqui is smart and has a good bedside manner but don't expect to get in and out. Your appointment will undoubtedly be 30 minutes or more later. Why? Because the doctor or his P.A., Chris take time to answer every question each patient has. And, while it's frustrating to wait that long, you'll love it when it's your turn. Recently, I needed spinal fusion. Both Dr. Siddiqui and his P.A., Chris were wonderful from start to finish! I awoke from surgery with immediate results. It's only been three weeks post surgery but I am already back to my normal daily life. I highly recommend this practice! read more

The doctors and PAs here seem to be really great but good luck actually getting to see them on time. Both appointment I've had at this place I've waited over 1.5 hours beyond my appointment time. The second time, I ended up asking to have my co-pay returned (bc this place makes you pay before you actually see anyone) and future appointment cancelled bc I heard at least 7 different people state they had been waiting for a steroid injection for over 3 hours. I also do not like the way the front office is laid out. Your business is open to everyone since there are waiting chairs right next to the receptionist so none of your conversations that you have with the receptionist is private. It's also weird that you have to pay prior to your appointment. My suspicion is they do this to keep waiting patients at bay. As I had gotten my co pay refunded and walking out the door, a lady had told me that she was actually doing the same thing I was and filling out paperwork to have her records transferred to a different place bc she has waited over 3 hours to see the doctor and it had been that way every time she's come in. She gave referred me to a new ortho place so I made an appt in the parking lot. It sucks I wasted a month with this place getting scans and x rays but I refuse to take an entire day off of work to sit in a waiting room, regardless how amazing the doctors are! read more

I can't say enough about everyone in this practice. From the front office to the PA's, Nurses, and the doctors. They are all top notch and want the best patient care for all. They take time to listen to you, which most office doctors and PAs are busy looking at their laptops or whatever they bring in the room with them. Honestly, 5 starts is not enough. I'm going to take the liberty of calling Kathlene Horsely an angel. That's right -- A servant of God. She was a loving hand to person in need. She took the time to listen, she empathized, she answered my questions with precision. I almost felt as if we were friends by the time I left. You feel much safer in the hands of a friend. I actually smiled when I left. Smiles now-a-days are far and few between. CLIFF NOTES: I have had horrible sciatic nerve pain for the last 2 months. Finally decided to have it checked out. I have had it off an on for about 2 years, but never this bad. Never this consistent. I've seen about 4-5 different doctors, and they all treated me like I was a nuisance and pawned me off on the next doctor. BONUS: The clinic is in the same business park as a Dunkin' Donuts, so grab yourself a delectable treat to reward yourself for putting up with pain. read more

I have to start by saying that I don't know jack about medicine, and I am in no way at all qualified to assess a spine care center so I can't comment on the quality of treatment or the competency of the doctors. But I can say that these people run a good practice. Precious had a tough time. One weekend she developed some spinal pain, and it got so bad that I had to take her to the emergency room. They gave her some good stuff and some pills and some referrals. We got an appointment with The Spine Care Center the next day. They looked at an MRI that had been performed a year early, and they were very concerned. They schedule surgery within a few days, and the surgeon was actually on maternity leave, and he came back making a special exception to perform surgery on Precious. It gave us the impression that they care a lot about the patients. We've never had any problem communicating with these people. They've always answered our questions and addressed our concerns. They've never left us in the dark about what types of treatments are available or what's the next step. I have a lot of confidence in this group. read more

My grandmother had an appointment here at 11:00AM in order to get a cortisol shot in her spine. I understand that the doctors were busy m, but it took almost one hour for her to be seen. I have to go up and ask twice when she would be seen. First time, I was told there was one person ahead of her. After thirty minutes and seeing multiple people being called in, I asked again and was told she would be seen shortly. I'm disappointed in how long it took. What is the point of an appointment if it doesn't happen at that time? I would understand if it was only ten maybe fifteen minutes past. BUT 40? Disappointed. read more

If I could add another star or two, I would!! I almost crawled into the Spine Center on my first visit; I looked like Quasimoto , the hunchback who rang the bells in the church in the old movie. I was in such pain; I could not believe my good fortune on not only finding these doctors but in being seen right then. The receptionist is an angel; she recognized I was in severe pain. I received my first injections that afternoon. The doctors and entire staff were so kind and I knew I was in good. no, great hands! My relief was like a miracle. I have been a patient here for 5 years now and absolutely love the doctors PAs and the staff here. It is a frustrating thing to live with back pain and I truly feel that they listen to me when I'm having a bad day and encourage me when I fee like giving up. I have had 2 surgeries with Dr. Siddiqui and he has a great bedside manner. He and Chris his PA made sure I was recovering well post op and even kept me in the hospital an additional night when I told them I didn't feel ready to go home. The nurses that work Dr. Zafar on the procedure side of the office are always smiling and make you feel comfortable and at ease before and after your procedure. I have never had doctors who actually listen when I rattle in about my family during visits. They always ask how my family is as well. I highly recommend if you are struggling with pain and need a caring doctor who will work to find the source of pain and treat it and give you your life back that you visit them! read more

They recognized that my pain was real by looking at the signs and listening to me, and then helped me manage it and the crazy insurance approval process during each step of my treatment. I think the staff are good people and that they genuinely care. However, I don't think I received the best technical care. Some of the things I was told by them were not completely accurate. Mishandling of the spine can lead to disastrous consequences and I am a living testimony of that. read more

I can not say enough good things about this place. They did surgery on my back in December and unfortunately I was in a car accident recently and messed up my back again. Their staff is such a rarity these days. They take the time to explore all options and go that extra mile to give you a positive outlook for getting better. I had back surgery one year ago this Feb. and I couldn't be happier with the results. The process prior to the surgery, the surgery and the follow up after surgery with the Spine Care Center, Doctors and Staff couldn't have been better. Their concern, ability to listen and respond to my concerns and needs was all that I could have asked for. They really listened to my problem and evaluated my condition without rushing to "surgery as the first and only solution". Prior to the surgery I had trouble walking, sitting and doing any of the daily or recreational activities I had taken for granted. After the surgery and p.t. I am now back to yoga, exercise classes and several other activities I had always enjoyed. I would highly recommend the Spine Care Center to anyone with back concerns. The Spine Care Center in Manassas has the worst customer service. The front desk Manager was a cold and rude human being. My husband was in bad pain and had just came back from a business trip, so we went straight from the airport with our 3-year old daughter. The day before, I had made an appointment, gave them our insurance information and was told to bring his ID and insurance card and get there 30m earlier. They checked our insurance and no point in time did they mention, that we needed to bring $130 at the appointment. Upon check in, their front manager asked us to pay $130 upfront before even seeing the doctor. Mind you, our insurance is in this office network. Usually its when our insurance is out of network that we are required to pay before service...Unprepared but NOT surprised, we needed to transfer some funds and needed a privacy while doing so, not in a reception full of people waiting in line. My husband was in a lot of pain, so i wanted us to settle him and my daughter in our room and do the transfer through our phone while waiting for the doctor. I asked if we could pay after we see the doctor. The front manager rudely said, "if you dont pay before the service, your husband will not be seen". I could tell that she was offended that i asked. While at the mean time, i saw people paying their balance from a previous appointments with the other Receptionist. I could tell by the look on her face that she wasn't personally going to assist us. This got me really upset. I asked to speak with a manager, and she said she was the manager. I asked to speak with a Supervisor and she said she was going to call him. Then I sat down and thought she was going to have the supervisor talk to me. Nope, she called the supervisor herself on the phone, without giving me the chance to talk to him...and laughed a couple of times. It was very obvious that she didn't want to make it work. She hung up and told us with a smile that they couldn't see us unless we pay first. Their policy says "payment due at time of service", we werent denying that. We just asked to be settled in first and work with our online banking in private. I mean this doesnt seem to much to ask, especially if we're talking about $130, not $15. Most practices would happily mail the patients the bills. Long story short, my husband was not seen. We ended up going to Patient First. They assessed him, took xrays of his neck and back, urine sample, did blood work, got him a pain injection and sent us home with a copy of his Xray, and treatment plan...They took great care of my husband for $15. They told us to see a spine specialist and we will schedule an appointment at the office of Dr. Sassan at the National Spine and Management Centers. The problem with this spine care center is not the doctors who work so hard, but this lady with the God complex. She thinks her office is the only spine center in the universe, or even in Manassas. If she thought that i would just feel sorry for my husband and took my husband back home in pain and mopped. WRONG! So really at the end of the day, Im happy because my husband is now feeling better thanks to the staff and doctors at Patient First for $15..instead of $130 and being treated like criminals. For people, who don't mind being treated like numbers, and pay $$$ ......this office is for you....For people who have young kids, want to be treated like valued patients and human beings while still paying $$$$$......avoid this place! read more

Having lived with back problems since 1965 (yes, half a century) I can't begin to express how grateful I am to all of the doctors and staff at the Spine Care Center. I have been a patient there since 2007, have had four surgeries and numerous other treatments, and can honestly say every experience I have had with them has been positive. I agree with Daniel that Kathlene is an angel, but Sohail and the rest of the staff are just as knowledgable and compassionate. I don't think you will find a better orthopedic surgeon than Dr. Siddiqui, and Dr Bassam is one of the best pain doctors in the area. Their staff is friendly, highly competent and efficient. For both office appointments and my procedure, they were right on time if not early. I had to have a minor procedure with Dr. Bassam and he was perhaps the kindest doctor I have ever met. Patient, nice and eager to explain my condition and the necessary treatment. I did not see the doctor to explain my issues, I explained them to a nurse who then explained them to the doctor...with less detail than I provided to her. (As I could hear her through the door) The doctor only wanted to treat my back and neck with injections instead of first requesting x-rays to determine if this was necessary or if may I just needed physical therapy. (The injection in my neck did not work (as I told him it would not), and I cancelled my back injection because it is bad for me and not necessary! I know it will not help, I really just wanted to have current x-rays to determine why my back is hurting again after a surgery in 2012. (surgery was with another Dr)) But biggest complaint, although petty is that they do not provide proper receipts for payments. All FSAs and HSAs require receipts for payments made for reimbursement, when I requested a receipt for payment made before my injection, I was denied. (I would have asked for a refund and cancelled appointment, but that fee was crazy) I was told that it was a 50 cent charge for receipts and that it would have to be mailed to me, because they can only print detailed receipts on Mondays. WHAT? This is 2015, you should be able to print receipt, if you know what I owe you then you should be able to provide me with a receipt, immediately. Again, I know that 50 cents does not break the bank, but this should be common practice and should be a requirement to give to a patient a receipt. (I have contacted the VA Medical Board about this practice) Due to this policy they lost me as a patient, also because I really didn't care for the attitude of the staff or Dr. Seriously if you charge my insurance thousands of dollars, then you should be able afford a piece of paper. I have never had to pay for receipt for payments made, and no one should have to pay for a receipt for a payment they make. Bad policy! Bad Attitudes! Just to close, when I told the DR I was not happy with this policy, his attitude was it's just 50 cents. And he said he would take care of it, but he didn't, and I received my receipt that I was charged 50 cents for!!! read more

The care might come highly recommended but the office staff clearly does NOT understand insurance and that can prove a costly mistake. After reading reviews I wanted verification of what I would owe before the appointment. I had 3 calls this morning with 3 differing amounts. First they said I did not have insurance-which they had both primary and secondary information. My primary insurance has the same specialist co-pay for in or out of network visits. The next call they wanted me to bring 3.5 times my co-pay to my first visit-no treatment just a visit. The third call was so convoluted I simply canceled the visit. I contacted my insurance company which also confirmed confusing conversations with the staff. It's a shame because I'll never find out if I would have had good quality care. read more

I can't even give them one star right this minute. I go for an office visit and the Dr spends 10 minutes with me and chargers $711.00. Then charges my insurance company 12K for a "spine surgery" that I never had. They are calling it "open care" that I could go back for 90 days with no charge. REALLY because that was never explained to me when I was there. And the back brace that they so graciously offer you - &1,700.00 they charges my insurance company. It's $200.00 on the internet because I looked it up. So my 10 minute initial visit cost me $546.23 AFTER my insurance company paid for everything else. Unbelievable! And we wonder why insurance is so expensive and our healthcare is such a mess. I have never been so disgusted as I am this afternoon with THE SPINE CENTER.
