We hosted a World Cup party here and rented 2 hours of volleyball. Staff was great! Very accommodating and nice. The owner got very defensive and in my opinion unprofessional when we had asked for him to address the air conditioning issue. There's so air circulating through this venue and it is miserable. Just as customers have every right to decide where their money goes. For those familiar with my reviews, you already know I don't exaggerate or sugarcoat. So here it is, plainly: if you're not YT or conveniently lacking melanin, save yourself the time and humiliation and don't bother coming here. I brought my beautiful Black family of five, and we didn't even make it 45 seconds. The moment we stepped inside, we were aggressively met by a woman whose first instinct was to bark a list of rules, everything we couldn't do, without a greeting, without courtesy, and with all the stank attitude, we got the point - we are not welcome here. Cool facility for sand volleyball but I was immediately met with a very abrasive and rude staff member. I felt spoken down to within my first minute of arriving. I do not plan on coming back if this is how they feel it is appropriate to treat guests. Such a disappointing first experience for a cool spot. read more

I enjoyed my experiences here. Owner, Rob, is friendly and nice. Doesn't even think about not talking to you and having a good time. Kevin and Meghan are a blast. I love the Music Bingo and Trivia nights. All of the regulars get treated well and continue to go back. I will definitely be patronizing this establishment for a long time to come. read more

Would not go here to eat dinner. Or if I was hungry. The food was not good , sorry. BUT it's a great place to watch any game , play darts or pool. And see live music when they have it. Feels clean inside. Bathrooms definitely need a color remodel but function fine. read more

I wrote a review over a year ago and gave Sports Garden 3 stars. Since that time, the food not only didn't improve (new menu promised), but has gotten worse. The menu is not only very limited and unoriginal, but the quality is sub par. This venue is a seasonal favorite for volleyball play. The rest of the year there used to be all sorts of events but the excellent event planner no longer works there. Bottom line: There is no reason to go to Sports Garden unless you are a regular or play volleyball during the season, or like watching an enormous TV screen. Oh...and there is a golf disc league that plays there in the winter months. One comment about the bartenders vs. management. The 3 bartenders which still remain are terrific, and you can expect wonderful service from them as well as a friendly smile. read more

The place is amazing and great volleyball vibes. Although the staff are very rude to customers. They have kicked us out multiple times before the time you guys are supposed to close. On a Saturday night it closes at 1, they started closing the lights off at 10:40-11. It is not right to take peoples money and not let them get their worth. Randomly found this place yesterday and played open play with a few friends. Love the atmosphere, music, sand, and vibes all around. The only thing I wish would improve would be the mosquito problem. Maybe add some mosquito lantern zappers or something. I would have stayed longer to play if i wasn't attacked and being eaten alive by those suckers. read more

I really dig what they have going on here. Sand volleyball, bumpin' jamz, buckets of beers, and sometimes that scary competitive tall being spiking the ball towards your face. I haven't come here on a warm day to enjoy the pool, but hopefully I'll get soon!! They have group rates and apparently it's free to play on Sundays. Cool concept and a good place to hang out at. They have a ton of sand volleyball courts where you can play with your friends. The place is pretty spacious where it has a great restaurant, outdoor seating, pool, places to hang out at, benches near volleyball courts, and music!! The only downside of it is they allow smoking inside, I don't want to smell like an ashtray when I leave the restaurant. If you are in the mood for some volleyball, food and alcohol, this is the perfect place to go with a big group. Their queso was REALLY GOOD, and the street tacos were GOOD! read more

When I arrived to the place I thought it was odd, at some construction place really.... When I walked in a was surprised to see pool tables, darts, n a bar, music playing as I continue to walk out to the courts another outdoor bar good seating and a pool. I think it's about 10 courts and the sand feels great!!! I met up with my girl Heather n got to meet the rest of the team lots of fun... I had so much fun I said I was coming back but then I was asked to play with them so I said great I have a reason to keep on coming for fun fun fun fun fun and should I say beer beer beer beer beer!!! I love the layout of the whole outdoor bar and patio: bar stools overlooking the courts, picnic tables spread throughout the sand, murals of flip flops, etc. It makes you feel like you're at a beach! The inside needs some work. It's fun to play darts but overall it's dark and unfinished-looking, much less beachy and fun. Same with their extension on the south side of Belt Line. My biggest complaint above all else, though, is that there was no way to get water outside of buying it in a bottle (at least in the southern courts). We're not supposed to bring our own water in, so at least give us the option of drinking tap water! read more

This venue and the team that runs it is fantastic! We had our corporate end of the year party here and I am very happy that we did. The team was very helpful from day 1, supportive and flexible until the day of, and was willing to bend backwards to make sure we had a good time. I threw a couple of curve balls at them last minute and they didn't even flinch! They completely catered to my needs and I couldn't be more thankful. Everything down to the food was amazing! (Highly recommend the fajitas!) We even went on a rainy day and there was more than enough to do inside the facility. Had a great time playing ping pong with my son. When he has fun and ask to come back.....5 stars. No food review because it was early Saturday and they don't have a lot of customers at thar time of day. Great guy behind the bar explained it's slow and dont have the grill going. Didn't come to eat anyway. Nice super large projection tv to watch winter Olympics. Staff was so friendly. Looking forward to come back and spike some volleyballs when it warms up. read more

Ill admit I had my hand on my piece when I first drove up to this place.. looks like a murder warehouse out of a movie. I was hella surprised when I walked into a beautiful tiki style bar with pool tables and large screens with the baseball game playing. Outside is a sandy oasis with 10 large courts, outdoor showers, another tiki bar and a shallow pool. Make sure you grab a bucket of beer inside before you head to your court- there is usually only one waiter prancing around the courts. I've never had the food but I've seen bar staples- nachos, tacos, burgers and fries. The courts are pretty clean and the games are always on time. I had never played before here and I've had alot of fun- especially since they play great music. read more

I go here for volleyball, and only for volleyball. I am an American, and as an American, I find it utterly UN-AMERICAN to pay over $3 for a can of Coors/Bud/Miller Lite at a join like this. The games inside are fun and the place is open and airy, but service is continuously crappy. Parking also sucks to the max on busy nights. You'll probably be parking on a mixture of nails and gravel from the quarry shop nearby, if you find a parking spot at all. Try the Cobb salad. I loved it, but I was drunk and oh so proud of myself for being simultaneously inebriated and health-conscious. About food, at least. read more

Playing volleyball in the sand is sooo much better than playing inside a gym. This place sure brings back junior high school memories for me. We may not have nice beaches here in Dallas but this place makes up for some part. I like that they open late especially the extended summer hours. They have a full bar inside with pool tables and darts. Plenty of activities to do. They also have an outside bar with mini swimming pool. As for the volleyball courts, there are plenty of open courts available on a first come first serve basis unless there's a tournament event. Other than that, bring your shorts, sandals and volleyball. I guarantee you will get a good workout. Last couple of times we were here, we played for 5-7 hours. Love it! read more

I'm not too sure about these reviews saying there's a bad smell? Because that hasn't been my experience in the past two weeks I've been going. I recently moved to the area and was looking for a place close to home to play darts at and have a few drinks. Well this is definitely the place for me now! The atmosphere is very relaxed, there is no bad smell lol, and the people (especially owners and bartenders) are extremely nice and welcoming!!!! There's a huge projector screen to watch game's on and a nice outside area where you will see people playing volleyball or just hanging out around the fire pit. Only go here for volleyball. Join an adult league (Google "Dallas" "sand volleyball") and it's on. Games and tournaments are played more-or-less year round. The bar, I swear, used to be a strip club. I can totally still see an entrance with a cover charge, the "main stage", and a DJ booth ("Gentlemen, for your dancing dollars, now on the main stage, Lexisssssssss!"). Anyway, I digress. The bar prices are all over the map and totally unpredictable. One day, cheep beer. Another day, expensive beer. Don't get their pricing scheme. You don't want to make people feel they are tricked into coming back for supposed happy hour, nor do you want to make them feel like they have to memorize your drink schedule. One really cool thing is that shoes and shirts are NOT required, not even indoors. Sweeeeet. read more

Fun place if you're with a large group. They have 12 volleyball courts and one pool. There is a bar in the main room as well as outside. The bar in the main room has a card area as well as pool tables. They do allow smoking. If you're not a fan, you should not stay indoor. Drinks are marginal at best. You have a choice among well drinks, cheap wine, and well drinks. Nothing exotic here. Just fun in the sun. read more

This place just got a remodel! It's really nice. They got rid of the pool and added a really nice side bar next to the volleyball courts. It has tv's and ambient lighting. They offer weekly volleyball leagues. My friends and I play on a team of 6's on Wednesday night, but they offer several different options for play. They offer game play for singles without a team which is a great way to meet new people. They offer a variety of drinks which are a perfect way to spend a week night. I've tried food here in the past and it was good. Regular bar food, priced reasonably. read more

I do not know why I have not reviewed this place before. I love volleyball, so of course, I love the Yucatan! This is the best place ever for volleyball! Bring a towel though cos sand will become your closest friend or enemy as the case may be. My volleyball mates and I have been known to play from 7pm to well past midnight on a weekend night. The atmosphere is clean & friendly and very conducive for great sportsmanship and lots of F-U-N! Even the music they play helps to enhance the entire mood just dont get smacked in the head with a ball while singing along to your favorite tunes. ;)! I have never eaten here & the most I have bought from the bar is a gatorade but I gather from my own limited experience & everyone else's that the service is good. and yeah, when its warm, bring your swimsuit. read more

However, if you are going strictly to get drinks and play some v-ball, this place would be great. My company ordered some buffet style setup but the food was mediocre at best.. Summer is around the corner... you know what that means.... GTL time. My buddy Erich B, invited me to play some sand volleyball. Yucatan is like the downgrade of Sneaky Petes in lewisville.... You got your bar where you can get faded.... the dart boards where you can show off your accuracy.... the outdoor volleyball courts to show off your biceps.... this place is perfect for a get together in the summer. Yucatan Beach Club is a great get-away in the city. There are a lot of fun things to do here. It's not a true "club" as there is no membership, you just need to be 21. Kids are now allowed to be on the courts with their parents (they got a new insurance provider). There is no cover, you just pay reasonable prices for beer and food. I play on a Wednesday night volleyball league here with a small group of friends. You can sign up for leagues on their website at http://www.yucatanbeachclub.com for a very reasonable fee. There are about 15 well-kept beach volleyball courts out back, along with an outdoor bar, a pool, and a lot of tables to chill at. The place is full of active people playing sports like volleyball or dodgeball, or watching them every night. Great place to make new friends and socialize. Inside, they have an indoor bar along with dart boards, pool tables, shuffle board, video games, and sometimes they even have a live band. The decor follows the Yucatan theme which makes me feel like I'm playing volleyball on the Isla de Mujeres near Cancun. Grass huts and a very casual dress code make this place very relaxing and fun. read more

After passing by this place twice and parking not being that bad at all. I walked in and seen the main area which was a few pool tables and darts with the bar being the busy part. Seemed like a real chill place but oh outside was where i think the place picked up a bit. Outside was the nice beach experence i missed from being San Diego. A bar and a small pool then across from that maybe around 5 or 6 volleyball courts. All the eye candy you could want which is why i love the summer time. Someone on the reviews said to get a salad there but i didn't even know there was a kitchen there because after seeing two bars i just figured it was nothing but drinks. After leaving from playing a few games i got a good laugh at the four guys hitting the punching bag game making fun of each other about how weak the other hits. I wouldn't mind coming back with a few more friends and getting a good game going. That parking lot is crazy to get out of towards the end of the night. There is more than meets the eye to this place when you first drive up here. It looks like industrial warehouse from the outside, but as soon as you go in, it is a nice place. Especially as you make your way to the volleyball court. I didn't expect for there to be a beach like style to it when I first got there. Have not been here in awhile but they changed names in that time, but the place still seems the same. A very large bar area with TVs, darts, pool tables, and ping pong, and very solid non happy hour drink pricing ($4 wells and beers for the most part). It's not the nicest looking place but does the job. Had a few drinks and the chips and queso. Queso was really good. To the volleyball courts, on a Wednesday, they had league going on that takes up about 8/10 courts or so, but across the street, they have about 10 more courts readily available. They have 10 sand volleyball courts here. This is the best place to go on those hot summer days (and nights) when drinking beer alone just doesn't cut it. Even if you don't join a league, there might still be a few courts open for play - check the website for an update. I've been here for league games and stayed far into the early mornings (the latest I've been there has been 2am). I'm no volleyball pro but I always have a good time here. Much delayed review. But needed. This place is quite interesting. They have a whole set of beach volleyball courts and a palm area as well as a swimming area (no thanks!). They offer a banquet hall as well for those birthday parties. After it gets dark though it turns into a decent bar. You can throw darts have a beer as well. There's lots of interesting things going on here. You might want to come here on those hot nights. Parking is difficult as well sometimes. read more

I am a beer league regular here. This place has no curb appeal but step inside and be surprised. Once inside you see lots of dart boards with a horseshoe shaped bar and a few pool tables. Then you go see where the magic happens out back. A nice sized tiki bar and shallow pool to cool off in mad then 10 sandy volley ball courts. I look forward to Tuesdays nights with a really great group of friends and a great atmosphere. We drink we play and we are always merry. It is a very laid back league that is good for all levels of players. We have easily made friends with several of our opponents and we keep coming back for more. They have a great selection of beer and spirits. Watch out though they cost 26 dollars for six beers gets a little steep. We have finished off a few buckets before but this is a friendly heads up. The staff is always friendly and most of them are players too so there is disconnect with the game. This place is awesome. read more

The place was big with a few pool tables, darts and one ping pong table with a big bar inside. There was a small pool and the volleyball courts outside. I haven't been to the Yucatan Beach Club in years but it is just as I remember with a few upgrades! The bartenders are friendly and the food is pretty good. I found out they are in process of being purchased by Lonestar located across the street but that appears to be a good thing. Lot's of changes will be taking place but which will make The Yucatan even better! However, playing beach volleyball will never change because that is the reason folks hang there! I you haven't been there before or not been in a while, I suggest you check it out or revisit. I am glad this place is still around because it makes Dallas fee like home again! read more

The old 'la playa' got a make over. Sand is nice, and the courts are well maintained. Open play is typically held on the weekends, but I would call ahead to make sure. Sometimes they hold random tournaments that tie the whole place up. If you are new to volleyball, or your skill level is 'introductory', I recommend that you get there a bit early (7ish) to ensure you claim a court. Tip: Order from the bar. The wait staff is very hit or miss when it comes to timeliness. P.S. Watch out for the stereotypical douchebags. Sometimes they are unavoidable, especially if they try to encroach on your court. People will play to keep a court. Don't let yourself get played out of a court. read more

I chose this venue for my husband's surprise 40th birthday party. I initially contacted a few venues for pricing and availability, and DFW Sports Garden was the first to reply. They were extremely responsive and helpful throughout the planning process, and they were open to all my ideas for the event. They even helped me set up, created an awesome photo booth, and so much more. There was a ton of rain the week and day of our event, and the owners were extremely accommodating and flexible as we decided not to use the volleyball courts. The food was good, and all of our guests had a blast. There was plenty of space, AV was great, and it was all around flawless. First, the air conditioner doesn't work inside so they have one huge fan in one corner that everyone hovers around... Second, this place is having a serious identity problem. Is it a teen hangout or a bar? We are watching 12 and 13 year-olds walking through the bar to the restroom barefoot in the world's smallest bikinis with old men leering at them. There are sand volleyball courts outside where the girls were playing and the girls would stand in line at the service bar for soda even though they had service outside. There are 14 year old boys playing ping pong hitting the patrons over and over again with racquets and balls. Us (patrons) are paying $4 a beer for the privilege of all the teen fun. After 9, it should be adults only inside, not 15 year olds in string bikinis that don't fit. We had fun anyway, but we all left completely sweaty after being inside all night. read more

I go to Yucatan pretty often because they have decently priced drinks, tvs with the game on, darts, pool tables, and of course, several volleyball courts. During the summer it stays packed but gets quiet in the winter. At one point they had Karaoke every Thursday... not sure if they still do or not. Food... i dont know.
