My family and I always have fun here ! My daughter in particular loves the pools and it is easy to keep her entertained while also having slides for any older kids or teens that may tag along. The tables in the shade are always great when we bring food too. The passes to get in at every cheap, although you do need to bring cash to pay for the passes. Since the big storm a few weeks ago, the bottom of the pool is full of piles of dirt. Both clocks flash continuously and display incorrect time (need new batteries after the winter?). Website is never updated so shows info that was valid in the winter, i.e. "closed" all the time. On a night when they hosted synchronized swimming practice for kids, there were zero lap lanes. On my LAST visit, a lifeguard leaned over from his chair and spit into the water. I've been swimming here for years, and this used to be my favorite pool, but it is nasty and poorly managed. What happened? The only positive aspects I can see - lifeguards are very attentive and people at the reception area are friendly. read more

It's a good enough pool to go to on a hot summer day. I love the price ($3 for Irving residents) but the kids working here are a bit abrasive. I forgot my pay stub one time when I went (bring it for proof of residency) and they grilled me about if I really lived there or not. I finally had to pull an email from the Irving library to prove I actually lived there. The pool is pretty big and they have about five swimming laps that they are pretty lax about. The lifeguards are everywhere, there's tons of them on a constant rotation and they seem to be pretty lazy about telling people who aren't doing laps to get out of them but they have no problem breaking out the megaphone to yell at a five year old running. The water is pretty chilly so sometimes you have to ease into it and they have a very shallow entry where you can just sit and cool off. The chairs are older and dare I say, kinda crappy. They charge to bring in a cooler which seems a bit odd to me so I just sneak drinks and food in with me since its just me and I'm not feeding an army. I come here for the price and proximity to where I live, otherwise I would probably drive a little further and pay a little more for a nicer pool. read more

Nice community pool, there is a $3 entry fee per person. We went for the kiddie splash pad and it was great! There are similar free ones in Carrollton. This place is nice and clean with lifeguards and a snack shack and bathrooms so you can spend the day! Irving residents only is why I said 4 stars read more

Cimarron Family Aquatic Center is a public water park in Irving's Valley Ranch division that combines a large outdoor pool with slides, a splash park, and picnic tables and limited concessions. The Aquatic Center is just one part of the larger Cimarron Recreation Center, but this review focus only on the water park. My Overall Rating - 4 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Facility, Return) Atmosphere - Cimarron Family Aquatic Center has a large, open feel. During the hot summer days, you'll find a good combination of families & kids. My main issue is there's limited parking near the aquatics center. If it's gone, you have to park further away in the other of the center's lots. 1/2 Star. Service - I've never had a problem with the staff. If you're a resident of Irving, the cost is $3 for adults & $2 for kids. Kids under 3 are free. Also, if you're not a resident but someone in your party is, you get in with the locals rate. The life guards actually do a good job policing the pool, unlike some who just sit around. Also the pavilion area can be reserved for parties, so that's a positive. Finally, while didn't leverage this, I believe life vests are provided free of charge. 1 Star. Facility - The facility features zero-depth entry pools, lap lanes, two water slides, as well as various a large splash park area for kids. There are plenty of chairs and a pavilion area with tables. I do wish there were more shade. A few large umbrellas would go a long way. Also, there is no indoor area. The pool is quite big, but when it's busy it gets VERY busy. Overall though, I think it's a nice, open & clean facility which has plenty of activities for all ages. 1 1/2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes - but I'm an Irving resident. It's the best local pool/splash park in my area so it's a no brainer for me. It's also cheaper than a Hawaiian Falls or Hurricane Harbor. Would I go here or a friend's private pool? Honestly it depends, but for me Cimarron as a great option. 1 Star. My Yelp Rating Scale (Sum of all parts): 1 Star - Atmosphere - Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere plays a big part and I'll give a star if I like it or thinks it has great charm. 1 Star - Service - You can have a great meal with bad service. But that's also what can make a five star joint drop to four. It's important to the dining experience that service is great and on point. 2 Stars - Facility - I'll award up to two stars for the facility, since this is the main reason we go out. Sometimes the extra star is given for value, but it's really all about the facility. 1 Star - Will I come back? - If I know for a fact I'll return, I'll give this a star. I am very disappointed with the place, well it's more like staff... My son and I drove by the place for almost a year so today we decided to test it out. The front desk staff were ok. Distracted and didn't seem friendly. When we walked in my son was very excited because he LOVES water, so it's like he was doing a slight jog, first time I got stares from the life guards. So we got in and not even 10 min later they blew a whistle because he was hanging on the ropes, so I informed him not to do so. Then few minutes later they yelled at him for running... which he really wasn't. And through out the hour they blew and yelled few more times. Keep in mind I am aware of my son because I was next to him the whole time... I just don't think it's very friendly and we won't be going back often. also I invited someone to come with me and they pretty much got kicked out because she was wearing a swimming shirt that had weed leaves on it and it said "addicted". They had multiple complaints from people. Smh who cares what people wear, focus on yourself... I don't complain when I see something someone wearing that I don't like! read more

We had a great time here today! This is the perfect place to take your kids if they've been begging to go swimming, but you don't want to spend a lot of money like you would at a major water park. The front desk people were very helpful and friendly. Checking into the pool was quick and efficient. My husband and I were impressed with how many lifeguards were here. They were very vigilant and made sure that everyone followed the safety rules. The place was super kid friendly. They had a separate area for small toddlers. Half of the "main" pool was also kid friendly with an open slide and tube slide for kids. The other half of the pool had 3-4 lanes for lap swimming. Another section by the lanes had a giant, twisting tube slide for older kids. The bathrooms/changing rooms were clean and well kept, too! Clean restrooms are a big thing with me, so I was impressed. The concession stand that was available was nice. They sold the typical concession snacks -- hotdogs, nachos, chips, candy, etc. Overall, we had a great time! We need to visit at least one more time before school starts back up again. :) read more

The inconsistency in the Pool Rules is irritating. How can you be with in arms length of a child who is wearing a yellow band ? Some parent are allowed to sit in pool side chairs and observe while others are required to be in the water hovering over the child. No reasonable explication why some are allowed to disregard the policy. Possibly because some of the parents do not have swimwear on. Also they would helpless to assist a child in distress if in fact they can swim themselves. The Concessions stand is under staffed and understocked making for long lines and short supplies. Sometimes not open at all. We had evacuate the pool twice last summer for over an hour dues to Vomit or Poop in the pool.. never told what type it was. This was about 25% of our ten or less visits. They need to get their act together. read more

When we were in Irving/Coppell, we have visited this place lot of times, b'day - parties, play-dates, hours of fun in water park until closing times! There were times our friends would tease us that they knew where to find us in summer evenings. Most crowded of all I have been too in evenings, It's more than FULL sometimes! watch your kids especially when there are some older kids who push younger kids. Lifeguards at this place are not enough for crowded place like this. And when older kids bully younger kids, they do not pay attention. When in water, if being pushed by force, injuries that happen are much worst and smaller kids who do not know swimming can easily drown! We have had a friend whose kid had head injury here for being pushed in water slide by some bully kid. Staff was very supportive in helping our friends deal with injury but I feel they should keep an eye on older kids being around younger kids, esp those who bully non-stop! So far other than crazy crowd & bullying issues by other older kids, our experiences have been good with this place! read more

Very nice clean place, but there are more lifeguards in the water than people. They watch you like a hawk and bark orders from megaphone and blow whistle every 10 seconds. I am all about safety but you literally can't enjoy yourself in this environment. read more

I visited for the first time on a Saturday afternoon to swim some laps and was pleasantly surprised. The facility is clean and well run. It was busy, but the lifeguards did a great job keeping kids and those not swimming laps out of the lap lanes. There were 5 lanes and I had one to myself the majority of the time I was there. The pool is decent, seems clean, but the staff has been repeatedly rude, unprofessional, and I have personally witnessed them selectively change the pool rules for certain guests. They also closed their bathrooms down 20 mins before closing, so little kids who had been swimming and elderly people were turned away even though the pool was still open. people usually use the restroom before they leave a place! Some guests are allowed to wear certain things in the pool, some aren't. I've been there 4 times this summer, and watched them do this each time. One of the times it was while I was attending a birthday party. One of the fellow guests had shorts on over her suit , but they were women's swim shorts, made of swim material! Not only were they wrong, but they were rude. In addition to that--20 mins later we saw 2 other people that had regular tshirts and shorts (not allowed) in the pool right in front of staff, and they were not stopped. I am trying not to say they are racist, but sorry. they definitely profile and treat their customers differently. I will say there was ONE guy at the concession stand who was friendly, but he's a rare exception. read more

Great location and facility. The staff are absolutely nuts. I have taking my son to various water parks, and I have never seen a more completely nuts group of people. I understand basic safety around a water play area...no running, etc. But this was extreme. My 6 year old son could not play in the shallow kids area (maybe 2 ft of water) without me being in the water with him. Lifeguards constantly blowing whistles to tell small kids not to walk under the small slides in the play area, not to hang from the ropes of the shower pulls. Good grief, if the e equipment is so fragile that a 20 pound child should not be on it, then it should be removed....and top it off, they traumatized my son. Made him do a swim test the length of an Olympic lap pool lane to go down the slide. When I asked why...the answer was just in case he was pulled under, they wanted to be sure he could swim...he won't go on slide now. And this is a child that until today would jump off a diving board and swim to the other end of our pool. I don't recommend this water park, very sad. read more

The staff made us and other families feel very uncomfortable, because of the unprofessional and rude way that they addressed other patrons. The "lifeguards" are too young and unprofessional to be in charge. Inexperienced staff, very strict but yet punish for no reason. Although the facility is ok, the staff needs better training and rule enforcing procedures. They also need to learn how to treat people with respect. My children and I had a very unpleasant experience with two of the lifeguards. It gave me the impression that these guards feel like they can boss people around (like a bully) and they feel more important than they really are. They were disrespectful, unkind and unfair. I do no recommend this place to anyone. I was there for a private party and it was not crowded at all. I cannot imagine how this place is when it is open to the public. My message to the manager, improve your rule enforcement procedures, train your staff properly, and be there while the park is open because your lifeguards cannot handle the place by themselves. read more
