I can get in whenever I want with the 24/7 keycard access and it's never too busy. With the recent additions of the new furnace, air conditioning, extra air filtration system, and the sauna, it's really a one stop shop for wellness. It's never too hot or cold, I can get in and hit a quick cardio session before moving to my sets and circuits. James keeps his equipment and machines in top shape, and only sources the best of the best. I always leave feeling like a million bucks! The owner of this gym contracts a debt collector for outstanding balances who is extremely…read moreunprofessional. He lied about sending my friend mail and emails for months even though this was only the 3rd month of delinquency. My friend's card expired, he's not a crook. He didn't even visit the gym in months so it's not as if he consumed any of their services. The debt collector told my friend that he needed to pay it that day and when my friend suggested paying it back later that same month on his payday the debt collector HUNG UP ON HIM. No caller id, no name, and no callback number given so there's no way to get into contact with him to pay it off. My friend contacted Snap and they informed him of the owner's decision to use this contractor. The employee at Snap agreed to set up a payment on the 30th and to talk to the contractor to tell him that my friend was paying. The contractor called back that same day demanding payment and assuming that my friend has a poor relationship with his family since he has no one to get a $100 bucks from. When my friend told him that he called snap and set up payment the contractor called him a lier. Naturally, the contractor hung up on my friend again. There isn't an excuse for this man's behavior. Thankfully Yahweh defends his children and will judge this man for his actions on the last day.

I have been an SOSer for 5 years now. Which makes it shocking that I'm just now getting around to…read morewriting review, especially since I'm such a mega-fan! I first heard about SOS from a few folks when I worked at L Brands. They had a few loyal customers with whom I worked. To be honest, I was a little intimidated when I'd see these folks post about their workouts on social media. I had thought about trying it circa 2017, but was too intimidated (my loss!). But in 2019, I ended up with a stress fracture while marathon training. I was able to barely finish my training for the NYC Marathon, which I did successfully complete in November 2019. But at that point, it was evident that I couldn't just keep running marathons without incorporating strength training into my routine. So in Christmas Week 2019, I started with the 7 class starter pack just to try it out. My first class was The Course with Kelsey. I felt comfortable because I knew Kelsey from work and luckily a few other co-workers happened to be in the class as well. I still remember during the warm up, I was thinking "dang this is tough!" And Kelsey even said "Much different than running a marathon, right Chelsea?!" She couldn't have been more spot on! I ended up feeling like the class was super tough but I was paired up with a coworker who was so supportive and kind (thank you, Shideh, if you're reading this!). By the time my 7 class pass was up, I was hooked and became a monthly member. I even joined Team Tread (their half & full marathon training program) in January to start training for the Nashville Half in April 2020. Unfortunately for me, my SOS morning routines were abruptly halted in March 2020. But luckily, my team tread registration got me into the "digital studio" which I had no idea what it was at the time. I very quickly uncovered that it's all the same studio instructors and they have recorded classes with new uploads almost daily as well as a huge library of online classes (which as you can imagine has only grown in the past 5 years). I did what everyone else was doing and immediately ordered as many dumbbells, resistance bands, and other equipment to build up a "home SOS studio" and my equipment has been growing ever since. I moved to Arizona in summer 2021, and have continued to be a dedicated Digital Studio user and advocate. Whenever I come home to Ohio (whether Cbus or Cincy), I get giddy at the thought of going to classes in person and it's a treat to choose which classes I'll take and with which instructors. I got married in June 2024 and I purchased the "Badass Bride" classes on the Digital Studio. As I was taking them and leaving comments the owner, Gretchen, messaged me and said she wanted to send me an SOS wedding gift. You'd never believe how touched I was to see a SOS tank, hoodie, sweat towel and t-shirt show up the week of my wedding. I'm still so honored by these thoughtful gifts. Someone I've never even met in person (which is hard to believe given how obsessed I am with SOS lol!) went out of their way to make my wedding week all the more special. I can honestly say SOS Digital Studio has helped me get in the best shape of my life. I feel like I personally know all of the trainers (I don't have social media anymore, but when I did, I followed all of them, so again, felt like I kew them personally). When I was in Hawaii for my wedding, SO many people were asking me about my arms and complimenting me. I kept trying to tell them about the DS and how special SOS is. I will always be a dedicated and loyal fan. It's become such a part of my routine that I'm on Christas Break now with my husband in Kansas (where he's from) and I've brought my ankle weights, light weights and loop bands just so I can get some classes in. Thank you, Gretchen and team for helping me be the best version of myself every day! Can't imagine what I'd do without the DS and my SOS training crew! (Only word of advice to newbies- the System DOES work! Don't skip out on any classes. As you can imagine, being a marathon runner, I favored all of the cardio classes. But it wasn't until I really started incorporating High & Tight as I prepared for my wedding that I noticed the chiseled arms that I'd always wanted. It's a well-rounded program that works wonders as long as you incorporate ALL of the classes).

It was my first time there but I got no introduction to the studio or space and didn't feel very welcomed. The class itself was ok - it's under infrared so I got a decent sweat but I'm not sure the workout itself was as hard as my sweat would lead you to believe (no second day soreness). The instructor said it was a old class layout they tried to revamp so I'd be willing to give it another shot but the overall format/moves felt like they were trying to do too much and less cohesive. Four stars mostly based on reputation alone as I've heard great things from others and think it may have been a one off experience.

I came to him with knee problems and some other strain that previous trainers seemed to ignore. Since working with Dustin I haven't had a single knee flare up, and my legs are a lot stronger! Plus my overall fitness has quite improved and Dustin has helped me with my overall wellness. But Dustin (and the other staff who are friendly and totally awesome) aside - I really love this place because it's diverse. A typical morning includes new parents with their kids in car carriers, older women lifting weights and practicing balance, boxers, marathoners, teens, even kids with special needs. Everyone fits in here. The place is basic but totally efficient and has better equipment than the rpac at Osu. The sweat box is fantastic and I cannot recommend it highly enough. It's a true place of wellness.

Peak hours are packed but otherwise it's relatively empty. Addressing the remediation trucks pictured: the ceilings leak like crazy when it rains. These remediation trucks come in all the time, but I never see the crew working on anything so they must be working on the apartments above/next door. (ETA: TAC assured me there are no leaks, and if this is true then I speculate it's water bottle-related user error; still something to keep in mind since I mainly notice it during rainy times) I was prompted to write this review because I noticed how much this building lacks AC. I could tell it was trying in the summer time, but the ceiling fans are carrying. Now, It's unnaturally warm for this time of the year (almost 75°f) and there seems to be no AC at all... it's suffocating. (ETA: They addressed this and assured me they're trying their best, which I respect-- especially since the tall ceilings probably make it harder to maintain temps) There's no water fountain, just a bottle refilling station that offers cold water, room temp water, and occasionally they carry bubbly water (however often times the bubbly water's not working and when it does work it lacks the static electricity mouthfeel I like, it's very wimpy). There's a 'vending' machine with Bloom/Alani/protein drinks but the card slot to pay broke months ago and now users must 'see an attendant' to retrieve anything at all but more often than not the gym is totally unstaffed, even during peak and business hours. (ETA: apparent theft problems caused this change, but I wish there was just a normal vending machine; additionally, they're now keeping their eyes on the lack of bubbly) The equipment almost always works, but sometimes a treadmill or two is out of order. The showers lack any sort of separation from the rest of the bathroom, so if someone's showered at all recently, the whole floor is wet. Womp womp. But they keep the bathroom stocked with toiletries (shampoo/conditioner/body wash/flossers/q-tips/hair bands for pony tails). The bathrooms seem pretty clean, but some of the equipment needs TLC. I see cleaning crews every once in awhile, but they always come in the middle of the day so it feels like you've got to dodge the dude with a vaccuum in the middle of the gym-- but hey, at least it's getting clean. (ETA: they do fix equipment swiftly, the treadmill that was out yesterday is fixed today, yay!) The employees are friendly when they're staffed, greeting hello and saying goodbye. The gym's connected to Bada Bean and Booze, but don't get your hopes up; the hours are limited (closing at 3PM I believe). You can access the gym through Bada when open, but sometimes (and more often than not, lately) the door from the gym to Bada is locked during business hours so you've got to go OUTSIDE outside to access the garage when the workout's complete, even during hours that Bada's open and operating. It's a first world problem, but I don't like my shoes getting wet or getting rained on. (ETA: I believe they said they only keep the door from the gym to Bada open when the gym's staffed, which makes sense) Otherwise, would reccomend this gym. I'm a savvy shopper and this gym gives me everything I want. Just had to knock off a few points for the little headaches I've run into as a regular. (ETA: gave extra points for prompt response, they even included ways to reach them directly -- much appreciated!)

Absolutely Unacceptable Cancellation & Billing Practices. I cancelled my Planet Fitness membership…read morein person, yet continued to be charged anyway. When I noticed the charges didn't stop, I made multiple attempts to resolve it--including two emails and phone calls--none of which were returned. The facility did not answer the phone, and no one responded to my emails. Despite cancelling, I was charged again, and then charged the annual fee on top of it. To make matters worse, when I finally spoke with the director, they refused to refund the annual charge that should never have gone through in the first place. At one point during my membership, I was even charged twice in a single month. If you sign up here, I can almost guarantee you'll deal with overcharges, poor communication, and a complete lack of accountability. This business is untrustworthy and unwilling to make things right, even when the error is clearly on their end. Cancelling should not require this level of effort, persistence, and stress. Save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere.

The lake is so pretty, the paths are well marked. This would be a go to spot during the fall color changes as the reflections off the lake would be pretty much what dreams are made of. Lots of space on walkway that goes all the way around the lake so you never feel crowded. Shows like 1.3miles but I'd guess closer to 2.0 miles but it's all pretty much flat and groomed. If you're ever in this area, plan a good walk with your significant other, put your phone in your pocket, hold their hands and just talk about how amazing your life is with them in it. When I first started at The Spot two years ago, I joined with the intention of taking advantage of their 1 month tryout deal. I was a casual gym goer, wasn't serious about fitness, and didn't think I'd be their more than a month or two. The fact that two years later I am still going strong and loving it is a huge testament to what they do there. They've fostered a culture of fun and support at The Spot which makes going to the gym one of the highlights of my day. The entire staff are knowledgeable, motivating, and all round good people. No matter what your experience/fitness level is, they're going to push you, you're going to get in shape, and the best part is your going to have fun while your doing it. I've recently been focusing on power lifting with coach Corey, and have seen major improvements in my lifts. My girlfriend loves going to Bri's large group classes, so sometimes I'll jump in one of those to get my endurance tested and my butt absolutely kicked. In the past I've done small group lifting classes and loved the results I got from those as well. But whether it's large group or small group, powerlifting or metabolic conditioning, Corey, Bri, Gilbert, Jonny, Adam and the big man J.L are going to get you to your fitness goals. Also, shout out Billy at the front desk, couldn't ask for a nicer admin. I'm not one to normally write reviews, but I really believe in what they do at The Spot Athletics. I've recommended it to many people in my life and every one who's tried it has been very satisfied with the results. I have nothing but great things to say about The Spot Athletics. It doesn't matter who you are, how old you are, what your experience level is, etc. the staff there will help you reach your goal. They are hands down the most knowledgeable group of people I have met in a gym. Whether you've had an injury, hate to exercise, you're a professional athlete, or have been working out for years, they will design the perfect plan for you. If you're looking for personal training, this is the place to find it. I have been working with coach Bri Lowry for almost 5 months and it has been the best and most fun experience. As a newbie, she always takes the time to explain and demonstrate each exercise with me until I get it right. She has a special ability to push you to your highest limit but also can make you feel like an extreme badass after each workout. I am WAY stronger, leaner, and much more knowledgeable about exercising since working with her. Her sessions are much more than just working out too. She works with you on a personal level and takes the time to get to know you. The environment of the gym is fun and clean, the people are friendly, and the equipment is in excellent shape. Billy, the gym manager, is the kindest gym manager that you'll ever meet. There is never a time that I walk into the gym without someone greeting me. There is a wide variety of classes and packages so that you can usually find exactly what you're looking for. This gym is worth every penny. When my friend convinced me to go try the Spot with her, I was confident that we would try the introductory deal and then never grace that doorway again. I hadn't worked out in decades and I was very intimidated to start. That was about 15 months ago and my friend and I are both still there several times a week. Everyone who works there is terrific: welcoming, professional, personable, great at what they do, and really invested in helping you to reach your goals. There are trainers/coaches (who are super knowledgeable) with you in every work out you do. You get a ton of personal attention and coaching, if you want it. Also, I've found the entire staff (from the office and management staff to the coaches) to be great in terms of accommodating schedules, experience levels, personalities, and goals. They do an excellent job keeping things clean and tidy, too. A special shout out to Matt Gilbert. My friend and I started partner personal training with Matt about three months ago and even after working out fairly consistently for the previous year, I have noticed amazing changes in my training in the past three months. Matt has a tremendous eye and has really helped me start to correct some long-standing bad habits in my work out. He is super knowledgeable, smart, and helpful, Additionally, he does a great job of meeting you where you are at while simultaneously consistently pushing you to be better. The Spot Athletics did for me what no other doctor, physical therapist, gym or training facility could do. I sustained numerous injuries from jogging over the last five years. The last injury occurred in the fall of 2011. After going through physical therapy, X-rays, MRIs and finally, an expert in the field of non-operative comprehensive musculoskeletal care from acute sports injuries -- I was told I should not and could not run. At that point, walking was painful enough, much less running. I was referred to The Spot Athletics by a friend in November 2011 and they told me they could help me and I would jog again, but not for awhile. So, every month I asked them, can I jog now? And the response was "No, not yet, but you will." In March of 2012, I finally received a walk/jog program with very small time increments of jogging in it. I began that program and something amazing had happened in those four months ... my entire jogging form had changed. I don't know how they did that, but I can now jog. On November 3, 2012, I placed 4th in my age group for the Rotary Club Veterans 5K. If you want to succeed in your fitness goals and be in the best shape of your life, then seek out the experts at The Spot Athletics. Sara and I have been participating in small groups at The Spot for over two years and couldn't be happier with the coaching, environment and the results. The coaching is top notch. Workouts are pre-planned as part of an overall program and the coaches are both motivating and experts in technique and understanding both our capabilities and limitations. This is essential for Sara and I as we are both a bit older, so we want to be pushed but not to the point of injury. We've had several coaches over the past couple of years and have been exceptionally pleased with all of them. Our current coach, Cory Ortman, is outstanding. He provides constant and consistent feedback in a manner that is easy to understand and knows how to push us to get the most out of our workouts. Additionally, Cory has created a particularly effective team environment which has enabled Sara and I to build relationships with several other Spot members. Honestly, working out is one of the highlights of our week. Besides being a scheduled "date night", we get to spend it with close friends that share the same passion for fitness. We've both become noticeably stronger and more fit and are having a great deal of fun getting there. read more

I came to the Spot being a former athlete and wanting a similar experience to how I used to train and they definitely didn't disappoint. I worked with Coach Rory and I really enjoyed all of my training sessions. He pushed me but understood my limits. He made sure that I was doing every maneuver correctly and that I was never doing anything that would injure myself. He also made sure to push me to improve and not to be stagnant which to me was super important. Rory is also super knowledgeable and made sure to explain everything we were doing and why we were doing it which coming from a medical background, I enjoyed. Overall, Rory has been such a great coach to me and I highly recommend him to anyone joining the Spot! Also, the Spot is so welcoming - every time I stepped into the spot, all the coaches went out of their way to introduce themselves and say hi to me. They all made me feel supported and like they wanted me to be there. I feel like that is so rare to find, especially in the bigger commercialized gyms. JL does an excellent job! We would highly recommend to anyone with kids who are competing at the highest levels in their sport. Our boys play olympic style volleyball and our oldest, who was 16 years old at the time, started training with JL and Matt after an injury last winter. JL took the time to listen to what sports medicine and physical therapy had done up to that point. JL evaluated him and started on a personalized program to help strengthen and prevent future injury. Since then our son has increased his strength and balance and that has help elevate his volleyball game to new heights especially heading into his senior year! His club team is training for a bid to the National Championships and for his school team to win the state title. Our youngest son, 13 years old, just recently started training with Matt. We can already see a difference with his body control and his strength. We appreciate their time to properly evaluate each person and develop a program for their sport. I came to the spot with a very specific set of goals similar to a military style fitness test. JL (owner) created a specific training, meal, and off-Spot day exercise plan for me. Within 3 weeks I was able to exceed the requirements on all of the events and was able to do twice the # of repetitions in the push up test that I had been able to do before I started with Spot. The Spot is for all ages, they do a lot of work with schools and athletes so the workouts are with all different strength and age levels. The instructors are all very knowledgeable and safety is paramount. The Spot is a family atmosphere and you will not feel out of place. The training sessions are about an hour long and come if a variety of flavors. The pricing is very competitive and the value is very high. If you've struggled sticking with a gym in the past The Spot may be the right fit for you due to the nontraditional style of training and attention to individual abilities. read more

JL Holdsworth, the owner and his team of trainers are really down to earth people, friendly and very easy to talk to... I've always enjoyed working out but the busier I get, the harder it is to find motivation to show up and push myself hard in the gym on my own. A friend recommended The Spot to me almost a year ago and I've loved it ever since. They have a huge variety of equipment and fun workouts and the trainers know what they're talking about. I usually work out with Bri and Cory during the week since their classes align well with my schedule, but I also have to give a shoutout to Johnny for finding creative ways to modify my Sunday workout to keep my bad right shoulder from getting aggravated. It's not cheap, but I think it's worth it for everything you get, including the community support. I took 3 months off this summer to travel and the day I returned, I had the warmest welcome back from the trainers and my old workout buddies. Feels good to be back with my #SpotFam! read more

I have been a proud member since January 2018. I absolutely detested gyms until I came here. I fell in love with the environment and the people right away. Everyone is welcoming and there is no judgment on where you are in your journey. I have already gained so much muscle and lost weight that has stubbornly been around for years. I owe it all to the coaches. They are the true reason to go here. I have worked with some wonderful people and though some have left, there are many there who will push you. I currently work with Cory the most. He's excellent with correcting your form and pushing you just enough to get the best from your workout. He's fun and engaging. My 13 year old son, Sam, started working out at Spot in October. I have been very impressed by how passionate the Spot Trainers are to help their clients and their knowledge and ability to connect with my son. They have been very caring and attentive to his specific needs, what his limits are, and how far they can push him. They are always encouraging and motivating him to do better. In just a short period of time, his coaches are already commenting on how much harder and farther he is hitting the ball. Our 14 year old son and 17 year old daughter have been training at The Spot for 3 years now. They both love it and always look forward to going. They greatly enjoy all of the coaches. We initially started in order to strengthen my sons muscles in order to protect him when checking started in hockey. We also noticed a huge improvement in his speed in baseball. Our daughter hasn't been there as much due to High School sports schedule and the distance we live from The Spot. I have been going to the spot for over a year now and I have to say I absolutely love it! A huge part of what makes going to this gym so enjoyable is the atmosphere that comes with it, and I give that credit to the coaches, specifically Cory! Cory was the first trainer I had when I came to the spot and he immediately made me feel welcomed. Cory always listens to what your looking to get out of your work out and really puts all his effort into achieving that for you. Cory brings his small group classes together helping everyone feel comfortable with each other. The Spot has been an amazing find. We have been bringing our son for almost a month and he is experiencing big results. Just coming off his freshman year of football he needed a good place to train during off season. The Spot has helped him gain 15lbs of muscle. He weighed in at 140 when he started and is up to 155 in just under a month of training and recommended diet from J.L. and his trainers. The staff is professional and knowledgeable. Our son is also getting speed and agility training and we can't wait to see what his progress will be measured at from his initial personal assessment. I will post again when we have those results. I have been training here for almost a year now, and I am so glad I made the decision to train here! I do the personal training sessions, and also try to get to classes as those are included in my rate. Both the classes and personal sessions have been so encouraging and helpful in my fitness journey. I have been training at The Spot for a little over two years. I started with the group metcon classes in hopes of losing some weight and getting in shape. I dropped 35 pounds and became inspired by the culture of The Spot Athletics to compete in my first powerlifting meet earlier this month. I have been looking for Athletic training facility for few months, and I am so happy that I found The Spot Athletics. I am in my second week and I am liking it. The environment is friendly and the training coaches are awesome. Trainers will push and motivate you, and they will teach you how to lift the weights correctly. They have different kinds of programs one on one training, small group training, large group training. Beside that, they have flexible classes even if you have full time or part time job. I've been training at the Spot for about 4 months and am convinced it's the best place in Columbus! Since starting my program I'm down 6 pounds and 7% body fat. Matt is an excellent trainer - from my individualized fitness programs to nutrition he is very knowledgeable. I've never been a gym guru, and was never very comfortable weight training on my own, but not here. The gym itself is great, and someone is always around to help out if you have questions. Every session is a challenge and I continue to see positive results. And the Met Con classes on Saturdays are a great start to the weekend! read more

There are different stations such as treadmill, tower, TRX, weights, etc. It varies each time, but the instructors are good at explaining it. They've been good about extra sanitization because you keep the same spray bottle and towel with you the whole time so you won't touch what everyone else is touching. You also hang your keys so you won't have to take it around with you. It truly is a killer workout and I would recommend it. Get there 10 minutes early if you can incase you have any questions and you don't want to miss the demonstrations!
